Well, now what do you think?? Tell us your stories of VU 10+. Good, bad, or indifferent. Your likes and dislikes. What you have seen and where have you been etc. A forum is for posting articles and comments. WE ARE IN NEED OF SUCH. :D
I've got to admit that although i'm curious to in exploring, i still haven't had0the chance to really sit down for a good session. Perhaps the best story is when red and i finally had it loaded on both machines, fixed all the issues etc, and had a quick go, Red within about 5 minutes had declared the upgrade fairly pointless. She has never particularly been impressed by flashy graphics though, much preferring engaging gameplay, so it was no suprise the merits of the changes were lost on her. After fiddling with the settings for quite a while on what was pretty much a top spec laptop a few months back, and not getting much more than 15 fps, i was also inclined to wonder what the point was. Red is now much more inclined to play farm town on facebook, and i can kind of understand why: it focusses on gaining achievements that feel satisfying, maximises the social aspects, has elements of cooperation, limited visuals etc.
A good initiative, Bunny! :) I do think the old graphics were by a long way good enough for a MMOG, in my opinion what is special about this game has nothing to do with looks anyway. However, the CryEngine will probably open up for a lot new stuff to be implemented which was not possible with the old engine. Also, it provides a good foundation to stand on for many, many years to come. This is a way of showing that MA/FPC have a long term plan with Entropia, which of course is positive when trying to attract investors as well as give relief to current players who already put in a lot of money. I am positive it will get way better in time, we are in the middle of a huge implementation, not strange there are problems coming up. The high rig requirements are of course quite a big problem at the time, a lot of old and faithful players can't even run the application. But the world of IT and computers is a rapidly evolving one, so I guess it was necessary to put the requirements high if you at the same time expect it to last for many years to come. OK, my personal experience so far then? :) After a rather dull first couple of weeks full of frustration and cursing, when my new computer had not yet been delivered and the game still had quite too many bugs for my liking, I must say it have picked up significantly over the last weeks. Way less major bugs and we see clear improvements every single week with the mini-VUs. I have spent absolutely most time hunting, having the rather good (well, compared to normally lol) chance of looting something really useful now with all SGA items dropping. I have actually looted one of those items so far; Female Goblin Harness SGA Edition, big anticlimax, rofl. But still something... And the loot, which according to many is worse than ever, I have found is not _that_ bad after all. I have tracked my return over the last 3 weeks of hunting; in 20k PEDs turnover (ammo + weapon and amp decay spent, not taking fap and armor decay into account) I have a TT return of approximately 92%, which is only slightly lower than normally. The reason I think many people are having worse total results than before is because most hunting loot has got a very low markup, due to a so big part of the active players are only hunting at the moment, trying to loot that elusive SGA item. With the good old rule of supply and demand, regular loot has gone down in markup and weapons are expensive. No wonder the average hunter is suffering, especially when hunting overhunted SGA item dropping mobs.
Well, I personally think that they have spoilt a really good game. Yes the graphics are nicer but whats with all these steep unclimbable hills, I don't see the point. I started this VU exploring, getting all the TPs which I thoroughly enjoyed, took a few bombs and a small amount of ammo and it was good. I have however, since finding the boorums, hunted these everyday:D I have found though that PED doesn't last long at all, September both Cantbe and I deposited 3 times more than we usually do, yes we have had a couple nice loots but the ped has gone:-? I now hunt noob mobs with my Mann/CB5 lol. I am again almost pedless so will have to find an alterative for a couple of months unless I get a Snable HoF :yeah: (I know its possible)
well, beside the graphics ( which are astonishing from time to time) I do not see a significant increase in gameplay. If you check EF you see 85% of the people complaining and whining about the new VU, that loot sucks, that they are pissed by all the bugs and so on. About the loot: I do not see a drastic decrease of the loot. at least not for me. I had two weeks ago my biggest crafting HOF, which pushed me on place 7 in the top 100. It was something around 3500PED. right before I had lot's of globals. This week it is bad luck for me. So overall I think this is usual and did not change too much. about the bugs: Every new release of a software contains bugs. We have enough computer skilled people on the forum which can second that I think. and Vu10 was a mayor step. Obviosly in graphics but I think they also recreated a big bunch of the code base. If you compare it for instance to Windows XP which was released in 2002 as far as I remember, there is absolutely no difference. For XP you are receiving every months fixes and patches. So I do not judge to hard with MA or FP about that. For me the main things are sorted and each mini update eliminates some bugs and give some improvement. What was of course a big mistake by MA was unlocking some permanently banned accounts after VU10. This caused a big wave in the community because of all the consequences. About the gameplay: I think we can expect more improvements in future. They already pushed the storyline before VU10 was released and they will continue. So I'm looking forward to it. And hunting Atrox by night is a completely new experience. So for me, who takes this MMORPG still as a game and a hobby I only see advantages. for those who see this as a way to earn money or to invest big amounts of $ I can understand that they are whining, but I cannot follow them. From time to time I spend some money into the game, as others do for other hobbies. But I spend money I can afford, and if the money is lost than it is lost and I do not have to loose a tear about. Result: :ok::ok::ok:
Overall , a vast improvement with lots more of the old features yet to return ;) After every major update its costs me more and more to get the same enjoyment :( Who pays for the improvements/double skills/ SGA etc etc ? we do Am i spending more than i can afford ? no Am i camping overhunted "SGA"mobs ? no not when we have the hill to ourselves and definately cannot wait for CP :D Graphics improvement a plus Night and Day a negative Huge mountains everywhere a negative The planet is now twice the size a negative Autoclicker is a plus although i'm not a serious crafter . This is just my opinion so far and once everything is back in game and then we will see
I did not know that. What about after its done?Yippee! I think you've improved a great deal. Ugh. Oh I get it. You don't say.
Well i finally logged on for a proper bit of hunting and a look around. All in all the experience wasn't too bad. I enjoyed the ambience of the calypso night whilst hunting some atrox, took a tour of some of the tp sites, etc. It was a better experience than when i logged on just after the vu: slightly more fluid, less graphic bugs, even though i emerged into the game a few hundred metres underground! Settings have to be minimum for most otherwise it's a frame rate nightmare. I will play again soon hopefully and this time a team hunt is in order to see if that still has appeal.
Waited all this time for apartments to return. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!!! Lighting is horrible. You would need a lamp every few feet just to see where the walls are. Most things have no color except gray. Most of the gifts from MA can not be dropped for they don't have enough value. (This will be fixed soon I hope). The nice view I had now looks at a rock. :-( Like living in a cave hehehe. They seem to be writing this game as it comes on line. What in the world have they been doing the past 2 years???????? NOT HAPPY JAN 8)
My first login today for a long time and I am still not happy with the game, you are right about the apartments they seem smaller to me as well.
Got to have a really good look around for a couple of hours tonight, so thought I'd put up some rates and hates: Rate: Night: really like the night time, and espectially the sunsets - very atmospheric Eye candy: Generally I'm liking the new graphics - esp now I'm playin gon my work laptop which seems to be doing a better job of it that our home one. Mouse button mapping: Brilliant - shortcut to FAP on spare mouse button - instant fap! Turn keys: about time too - stops all the need to flick between aim/mouse mode Robots: Like the new look drones - also met legionaire or something that kicked my ass! Freaky noises: birds squawking etc. much better than before Hiding Gibnibs: yes the grass is a good place for them to hide - nice target practice Hate: Frame rate: drops drastically when there's more than about 4 avatars on screen, or vegatation is dense Flashing grass: 'springs' up out of the ground as you walk - VERY unrealistic and I'd rather just have the terrain Even minor TP chip only goes a distance that you can see from the top of a reasonable hill - seems pointless Zooming: Ultra-slow framerate and doesn't zoom in/out quickly enough on the mouse wheel. Also laser etc goes WAY off the centre of the reticle yet still strikes a hit. VERY off-putting
Going by the sub-updates in Latest EU News, it looks like VU.10 is taking shape bit by bit (or byte by byte) and that EU is getting back to normal. The new graphics look good 'going by the cryengine pics' in recent posts, but I won't really know until I get back in, which is a few weeks away still, due to a new systems build that was put off track slightly due to RL stuff. Thing that worries me a bit though, is I hope I've still got my apptmt as their's rent due on it and I've got a few things in it, or at least I did...
No worries, you don't lose your appartment. What happens is that you simply can not enter it until you paid the rent. I haven't paid mine for over a year, and the deed still lies there comfortably in storage. Also, with VU10, everything you had in your appartment got transfered to your storage, as appartments weren't implemented until a few weeks later.
So it's all back together as it used to be then. That's good to know. I was worried that maybe ppl's items had been burried very deep along with the appartments (he, he). :D
is back as it used to be? back as it used to be is?""? Is good to hear?Where were you worried that ppl's items was burried deep along with the appartments he he?Can you please speak English?
