FPC congratulate avatar Buzz Erik Lightyear for acquiring the Crystal Palace Space Station for the amount of 3,300,000 PED (USD 330,000). The price also surpasses the old world record for virtual property previously set with the purchase of Club Neverdie - The Virtual Space Resort and Nightclub, for 1,000,000 PED (USD 100,000). http://www.planetcalypso.com/news/pages/2009/12/29/0646/index.xml See also original report: http://www.entropiaplanets.com/threads/crystal-palace-and-the-winner-is.734/
Gratz to Buzz Lightyear for winning the auction. His money, his business what he spends it on, so more power to him. :ok: But..... I cannot help but wonder if there are not more secure things to spend one third of a million US dollars on. If MA closed down then Buzz would receive the TT value of his investment in return? ( if the TT value of Crystal Palace is similar to normal estates, then it is only a few pecs at most. :hehe: ) OR.... These high price transactions are somehow negotiated and documented outside of the game between the buyer and MA, which gives the buyer more safety on his invested dollars but then also means there is more to a big sale than just the ingame auction. :-k :snowman3: :reindeer: :snowman2:
Gratz to Buzz , Gratz to MA. At least the ammount shows how much someone can earn by playing if he posses the right avatar ;)
I had great fun following the bidding ingame at the auction house, was quite thrilling to behold! At first it seemed to be a race between Star, Deathifier and Qetesh. Then suddenly out of nowhere Buzz jumped into the action with a 2.8k million PED bid or so and started some quite aggressive bidding by raising 100k a few times. The auction got down to 3 minutes a few times, but when it for the first time reached 2 min with Buzz's 3.3 mil bid it started to get real exciting :) Can't imagine how many times the auctions 'refresh' button were pressed ingame those last two minutes lol Still a bit stunned about how much money that really is lol... Quite a margin down to Neverdie's old world record :) Rumour has it that it actually wasn't Buzz only, but a coalition between him, Qetesh, xXSquallXx and perhaps some more.
Must be something like that. I also wouldn't be surprised if the winners of these auctions are backed by RL concerns
Well in my opinion 3.3mil isnt that much for CP. Lets do some maths :) Average total global value for kreltin and aurli is 25k ped / day. If globals are about 25% of the total loot, it would mean 100k peds loot every day. With a tax rate of 3.5% this means 3,5k peds a day, and about 1,3mil a year. So CP would pay itself back in less then 3 years. Not bad in my opinion :)
Nice calculations Anna, it would be very nice to have an investment pay for itself in just a few years. :ok: I guess one factor to ponder is whether placing a tax on the hunting at CP will seriously reduce the amount of hunters who visit, and ultimately the amount of ammo/repairs chewed through at CP. I've seen some people comment that adding a tax to CP hunting will stop them hunting there, but perhaps there will be other improvements to CP which will make the tax seem ok for hunters. :snowman3: :bauble: :snowman2: ( I know that Santa has been and gone already, but these icons are just too cute not to use them. hehe )
