Two Factor Authentication Update In our recent State of the Universe Address, we announced plans to release a new two-factor authentication system later this year: MindArk is developing a new two-factor authentication system that will gradually replace the Gold Card Security System currently in use. This new system will be released as an app for popular mobile platforms for all Entropia Universe participants. This announcement sparked lots of speculation and discussion on community forums, so we wanted to clarify several points to address some of the concerns raised by participants. Account security is MindArk's highest priority; any new security option that is made available to participants will make Entropia Universe accounts more secure, not less. MindArk will continue to support the existing Gold Card Security System for participants already using the system, including after the release of the planned mobile two-factor authentication system described in the State of the Universe Address. Eventually the Gold Card Security System may no longer be offered for purchase in the future, though again, participants already using that system may continue to do so. The authentication system included in the planned Entropia Universe mobile application will natively integrate Google Authenicator, a well proven, highly secure industry-standard two-factor authentication solution. Rest assured that the security of Entropia Universe accounts is our highest priority. I think I need to replace my somewhat worn out 2008 gold card which is now unreliable due to its age because the alternative of using an App horrifies me. You want to use contactless payment cards (£30 with no PIN number, no signature, no proof you didnt mug someone in the street for it) you go right ahead. My cards will never be contactless, although a mugger would be insane to try anyway. I want to keep my Gold Card and I want 6 months notice of when it will no longer be supported so I can say goodbye to everyone in this universe.

To be honest, I don't see any reason to get angry. If they continue supporting the gold cards out there, this won't affect you until your card or reader breaks down. Other gaming companies have done similar things (like the battle.net authenticator). How/why would this make you angry?
gotta agree, the new system should be ok... gold card standard is pretty old... same thing type of system that dish network used to use before hackers found a way around it many years ago... to be honest, a free app that won't cost to be replaced like the gold cards were will be a nice addition.
Having the reader on your table feels more secure then sending various numbers through the internet, where you know, that people try to hack & steal every single day. Just my opinion, based on various expereince.

I think the day my GoldCard / Reader finally wear out is my message to find another virtual reality. Depends who becomes President obviously! Fake Paragon Charlatan 3 weeks to find out eh?
