New Accounts can't get to NI?

    I know for some time now it has been possible to create new accounts through the NI website, since I already have an account I haven't actually tried it to see if it works though or how it works, where the link takes you etc.

    However, I heard through the infamous 'grapevine' that new players who signed up for NI are actually spawning on Planet Calypso in the newcomer center there, not on NI. This strikes me as a serious loss for NI and thus a serious bug in the system. Whether or not NI is still in infancy and basically a beta phase, if someone signs up for an account on any existing planet, that is where they should spawn, not somewhere else where they would have to pay 40ped to get to the place they chose to go to.

    Can anyone confirm this is actually happening and have MA been made aware of it?

    would explain why you never see any noobies at the new arrival zone.

    actually two days ago i saw a guy asking "how do i get weapons? im new to the game and spwaned here" (poor guy spawned at a village filled with grey monkeys and mountain boars... not the best first impression of NI, spawning in the middle of aggressive mobs that eat them in a few chunks and they cant even get the the teleporter (and that guy didnt even know what a teleporter was))

    Interesting Jellyfish. I'm guessing the new arrivals zone on NI is maybe the Crystal Resort Beach Lodges area, as it has signs saying welcome to NI and pointing to the village of Crystal Resort, where there is a revive if you get killed anywhere around there. So maybe it is a bug in that a new account could end up spawning on NI or on Calypso or wherever. So with some players spawning on Calypso now claiming to have created the account for NI, and the guy you talked to saying he spawned on NI, we don't really know whats up with that. Just thought it was a serious potential issue for NI, so still a bug worth pointing out and noting any other info on.

    Ive run into more than a few new NI players at CND. Perhaps rather than theorize we can simply pose the following questions to David / NEVERDIE:

    Where are New Arrivals supposed to spawn? Is this enabled yet? Is it working properly?

    Does anyone know what the problem I'm having is? I just tried to start this game last night and picked Next Island because it sounded pretty cool, but on trying to play I haven't been able to figure out what to do since I started off in an area with no players surrounded by mobs of monkeys and boars that just repeatedly kill me. I've attempted to evade them and explore the area, but due to their speed and the size of the area, I haven't been able to do much for this. If anyone knows what I can do to fix this or can at least find some way to help my character out of his virtual state of living death, I'd be very grateful.

    Hey,

    My group experienced this last night when we took a bunch of new players out to hunt some Sharks. It was nerve wracking, frustrating, and all of the rest of negative things you could think of. Players needed repeated rescuing from revive terminals as mobs would do whats happening to you, repeatedly kill them. Even I had to spam heals immediately on arrival at TPs after taking the death train back to my TP of choice in order to survive.

    While it was fun-ish for me, for someone who doesnt have armor or a decent weapon it pretty much is a game breaker.

    It will be fixed. Im sure the development team is aware of this.

    Well the problem is mostly that there are no turrets to clear the villages of mobs, and you have been stuck and have no weapon to try to defend yourself. I'm logging in soon and happy to come help you out of there, just post please what your avatar name is and if you know for sure the name of the village? Otherwise I can make a guess and head out to look for you.

    It's been kind of tricky to tell where I am (since I'm new, but I've been trying so I can call for help). I can't really stay alive long enough to check any signs or see what that building near me is. Would the coordinates of my revive terminal or whatever help? My avatar is William Billy Froggers.

    coords would help, but Im ingame right now so can run around the newcomer areas looking for you if you actually at a revive, will check back here if I don't spot you, assuming you are ingame now.
    Edit yeah if you can get coords would help, the revive for the crystal resort area I was thinking of is in a safe location up a tree, so assuming that isn't where you are stuck lol

    oh well, I haven't seen you Billy, and am a bit tired of crashing out right now after the update and losing a boatload of tps that I have to collect again, so if you can get those coords post and maybe someone will see it and help out. Wish you luck hon.

    My RL friend tried to make an account. Problem is... he never got the e-mail to confirm his registration... He filed a support case but no response yet. I fear he may go back to one of the other games he plays.....

    It looks like I'm somewhere around 125000 long and 93000 lat. It's hard to be more detailed when these coordinates are so jerky. I hope that helps find this place, but I'm really not sure. At least the mobs seem thinner than last night so I can move a little more, but I still die in one hit so it's not like I'm going anywhere.

    will pop in today and see where that is, if you are dying in one hit from monkeys and boars of the starter village kind, that is a bit odd I'd think, I thought they were the same as the 'puny' mobs on Calypso in order to be newcomer friendly.

    The closes TP to that location is Enchanted Village. I would try that or Serpetine Village, this is where I find a few new players trying to escape the horrible monkey/boar mass.

    Really? Still not logged in today, but those villages are definately not the newcomer area around Crystal Resort. Without looking I don't know the maturity levels of the mobs there, but will go and have a peek. That explains a lot to me about for example the one hit deaths Billy is having, unless by some bug newcomers are spawning all over then they must have wandered somehow to get to those locations. I can't remember now what we had already for tps automatically on start day, I know a lot of them that were on NDs island are now gone from my list, I guess with the update and in response to all the complaints from people who were offended that so many of the start day tps were on his land area, so now have to go get them again (thanks complainers lol :rolleyes:)

    Rescued a new player from Serpentine village earlier too. The silly boars and papoo's go and kill them just as they revive, keeping them pinned in place till someone passes by

    Yeah...I couldn't stand to play for too long honestly. I tried to make some sort of harrowing escape, but there were so many and they were so fast (not to mention when they spawned under me or clustered around me forming impassable meat walls) that I couldn't really do anything. I also played for about an hour or so, just building up skill points, thinking that extra evasion, combat reflexes, and the like would help me make my getaway. After messing around, I decided this was fail (as well as all of my attempts to contact anyone). I filed a support case and I've supposedly been moved to the other side of the island. I'm going to investigate my new fate.

    Glad to hear you got moved Billy, probably back to the starter zone around Crystal Resort. Lots of others now saying no turrets to clear the revive and tp areas is causing real problems, in the short term we can only clear them when we see them of the mobs, and maybe do a support case like Billy if you get really stuck, as this will also point out more and more that we need some protection for the revives (we don't know, they maybe coming in the next update anyway).

    i found a new player yesterday at crystal resort. i helped her with info and teamed her for a bit and hunted so she could get some items and get a feel for the game. atleast she didnt spawn in the middle of a mountain boar swarm like some other unlucky new players
