What is your ideal advertisement for Entropia Universe based platform games?

  1. Hey,

So I've griped alot, and other users have griped alot over the years about proper ways to market the game. But we really have only criticized, not suggested alternatives. How about we do this? Theres no harm in it.

So Im going to start off by going over some points I would like to see in an EU based platform advertisement. Im hoping others will follow.

    • Over 80 different professions. Hundreds of different skills. Master them all.
    • Cinematic quality graphic rendering.
    • Drive a car. Pilot a boat. Battle other players in tanks. Participate in Aerial combat piloting helicopters. Completely independent flight patterns. Accurate gauges. No restrictions!
    • Player Driven and World events.
    • Frequent updates.
    • Multiple game worlds. Play a new game. Keep your character!
    • Create your own avatar look.
    • Real Cash Prizes!
    • Own an apartment, a house, a small plot of land, a large plantation, or perhaps even a whole asteroid! Manage your estates. Make money off players who use your resources.
    • Own a shop. Become a virtual merchant.
    • Hunt monsters or other players using a variety of different techniques
    • Travel in time
    • Mingle in a worldwide culture including movie stars, musicians, executives, and everyday people in a global environment.
    • Blending the flexibility of Second Life with the Gameplay of World of Warcraft
All these things could be stressed in targetted marketing campaigns. Instead what has historically happened though is people focus on human greed and appeal to it. Thats all well and good as long as the greed is satiated. But when its not the strategy backfires.

I would love to see a HUGE advertising campaign. (not news blurbs about sales)

    BUT...
Since this is the NI forum and I assume this is what were talking about. It needs to be finished first. There need to be Blueprints, there needs to be Time Travel. There needs to be a local supply of weapons and tools.

Untill then I think that advertising is counter-productive. But once its fully functional I really do hope that there is a serious ad campaign, maybe even TV advertisement.

The platform is amazing, and the next island concept is great, I honestly believe that if you could push 1000 players into it overnight and add another 100-1000 a week after that keeping just a fraction of those interested would have the planets economy going in days, and the planet would truly be alive.

My question is are we as the existing players prepared for that? Think about it. Here are my thoughts about what if that happened.

    1. Unless something is drastically different with the consumption, we are doing new players a disservice by pushing them into sweating as the only way to make money or play the game. (be upfront with them and be honest, it is an option, but gather stones may be more profitable, but depositing is the quickest and easiest)
    2. How are 1000 new players going to hunt when they have maxed their opalos? Are there people on NI prepared to either craft or have enough ped on their cards to stock weapons either in storage on in shops or shopkeepers in huts?
    3. Where is the information here on the forum for all the animals and tutorials necessary for them to get started?
    4. Are you ready for the change in atmosphere? With more people will come more conflicts and personality differences. (remember bitter people are the most vocal, just check out pcf)

These were just a couple of quick thoughts I had. I truly do hope though that there is a big ad campaign soon and that it is done in a way that brings people in with realistic expectations. (understanding there are costs and not expecting to get rich quick)

  3. The thing that pissed me off the most was the slight of hand marketing that was done out there.

i like helping people, and i like telling people how to play the game, BUT i wouldnt try and fix people's mindset that will be let down when they realize the only way to make money in this game is to sweat/trade, or own a land area.

once the smart noobs realize that you can make more money from mcdonalds then sweating/trading, they all will leave, and i lost alot of people that i helped because of this realization.

yes this game is great, once you get past the hurdle that you been slapped in the face with the "you will make money thing".

what you really need to do is market COMMUNITY, FRIENDSHIP, and show them that there is more to this game that you dont need to spend money on like the fun stuff that can be done with small team hunts and such.

MA and all the marketing that was done to tell people that you can make money in this game was sorta accurate, but was slight of hand by telling them that its easily obtainable.

remember not everyone is rich........it takes money to make money.......

  4. theFEESH has been DISAPPOINTED in this game. Where is the fun stuff? FEESH do not hunt (unless u r a big feesh then u hunt little feesh). theFEESH wants to be A TAMOR! CRACK THE WHIP! WHIP THE CREME. ALSO WHERE IS MAH GAY BAR, MR MAGYAR? Erpution time travol klub, u will buy it for theFeesh?

  5. I agree they should stop stressing that you can make money in this game, but I think they should continue to advertise that there are no subscription fees. I know that's what attracted me to the game in the beginning -- the ability to try out the game without having to sign up and pay a fee. After running around and sweating for a couple of weeks (which I thought was incredibly boring), I decided to deposit and buy my first hunting gear.

No subscription fees will pull people in, but good game content is what will keep them here.
