I was wondering...why make it so hard to start? This game provides no basic items to beginners who do not deposit. All you get are the colonist clothes and a sweat extractor. Why not provide us with a newbie knife or a basic weapon with a low cost? I can't go into an area to extract sweat without having to worry about getting mauled the first time my sweat extractor makes a beep. The items are worthless when selling to the pappoo and there is no way to buy more ammo for whatever weapon you may have if you don't have enough. 1.00 PED=10,000 charge which is only equal to 50 shots. It usually takes 6-10 shots for a newbie like myself to kill even the weakest of creatures. Namely the Petite Young [COLOR] Pappoo! I am starting to wonder, if this is how you treat your non-deposit players, why should we invest in your game? Another question that I have is, why a minimum of $100 deposited? I don't like your game enough to make that much of a deposit! No help, no tutorials, glitchy quests, low value items, rare looting opportunities, and with those that run out of ammo and have no choice but to drown the creatures, why not let us loot the corpse? Please don't take offense to what I say! I have been a beta tester for online MMORPG games and I know that the setup for this one is unique, however, there are parts of it that are majorly disappointing! I was required to criticize my games to help enhance the experience and I guess old habits die hard! Lol
Wow...been about an hour...no response yet? You guys don't have any tips or anything to help someone out?
Hey. Actually I put together a document that details expectations you can have of the product at various levels of cost. Non Deposit is included. Its not done yet, but you can have a look around this. Entropia Universe New Player Guide | Entropia Exchange "I am starting to wonder, if this is how you treat your non-deposit players, why should we invest in your game? This part comes off as cranky, no offense intended. There's room for all sorts of titles offering all different types of experiences. If this isnt your cup of tea that's all well and good, but please leave the snarky attitude behind. There are plenty here who do not share your opinion.
None taken! Thanks for the link. I will definitely check out the guide! Now if only someone has an easy way to get a laser dagger or a laser sword. Lol I hate ammo weapons when you can't really buy more than 50 shots at a time!
Thats the tough one. Ive given away alot of gear to people over the past year. To the tune of a couple thousand PED, or hundred dollars, worth of the stuff. Only 5 of the players I provided for in this manner are still playing. Many others simply took the gear and decided the game wasnt for them, no word back to me or offers to return the equipment so another could try. It will simply be gobbled up by the system and returned to MindArk. Youll find players reluctant to provide much in the way of starting equipment due to this phenomena. Players will, however, reward sweating with max value in bartered items, instead of PED. This happens alot. Gathering enough sweat is a way to tell veterans a new player is interested in the product enough to give it a try. That goes a long way with many of us.
I think you are basing this on a misconception. It will cost you about the same amount of decay on a melee weapon to kill an animal as it would cost you in ammo to kill it with an Opalo. (Opalo = the beginner laser rifle) Because this is a "free to play" game that has a real money value for all the items you get it will be more difficult than you expect from other games. This difficulty is really what has drawn me to it and kept me for so long. (3 years and counting) Don't approach the game like a typical MMO, instead approach it like a complex economical simulator. (lemon-aid stand for adults) While it is possible through hard work, dedication, research, and persistence to progress to a high level in this game without putting in any of your own money, the competition is Fierce and only a fraction of a percent of people can achieve that. Look at magyres chart and tutorial, it gives a realistic view of what to expect. This game is alot of fun at any level, but its the challenge of trying to do better than others within a set budget that can really drive you to excellence. Remember also that this is a long term game, I have been playing 3 years and am still not (and probably never will be) at an uber level in any of the professions. I recomend playing for free for the first couple of weeks to learn the basics so that when you do deposit a small amount, (id recommend a monthly budget like you would pay for a subscription to another game) you will have a good idea on what goals to go for, and how to wisely spend that money to achieve them. Good Luck and have fun :) narfi
Yeah, sure! Here's the fun part: When I found out that the deposit on a debit/credit card is only $10 minimum, I went to register my card. I know it's a little concerning for people like me, who work in the fraud department of a national bank, are putting their debit card online without a security feature like paypal. Now I am even more concerned as I am betting ten to one that I will be finding at least 3 different charges on my bank account from this or some associated company when I got 3 declines on my debit card. I entered all the valid information but could not register it. Why not? Nothing I could find about the debit/credit system being down!
If your card uses 3dSecure technology there are additional steps you need to take prior to it being able to work. Charges that go through are instantaneous. If you havnt recieved anything from MA in terms of PED, you likely havnt been charged anything either. I understand the level of suspicion considering this is the big bad intarwebz, but in this case its not warranted. The deposit steps can be rather complicated here to get set up -- all in the interest of protecting user identity and the financial integrity of the environment. Unfortunately the board probably isnt where you should look for support on this particular topic though. MindArk support, accessible through your account management page on Entropia Universe Portal is well versed in the idiosyncrasies of their particular platform and can offer assistance with much more accuracy than we can here on the public forum.
Nah! I'm just making a statement! What I am betting it is, now that I think about it, is that there is a maintenance scheduled tomorrow and to prevent problems they may have already disabled deposit with debit cards. Or because this is a new planet, they have not set it up yet. I don't know! I just called my bank to check and there was no authorization requested, so they could have temporarily cut communications outgoing or they need to do some network maintenance. Like I said, I work for a bank, so I know what to check to be sure! I will say, that did scare the crap out of me! It is one thing to try and cash $10, but I can't afford anything additional.
Lol I tried registering my card about 10 times and now it is saying service is block, try again later. They better hurry the hell up! I am tired of not having crap to use!
Are you trying to register your credit card ingame, or on the website? You need to register it on the website and make your first deposit there before you can make deposits from within the game. narfi
also remember melee or ranged its still going to cost about 1 pec per 4 potential damage. Your loots will generally be less TT value than you spend on the kill or mindark go out of business. You make your peds on selling with markup Remember too next island is still in beta ^.^
Yeah...but anyone know of a way that I can make the deposit already? I really wanted to get $10 in tonight!
Maybe a prepaid credit card? Im not sure why it would say your card is rejected. A couple weeks ago mine was rejected but the cc company had put a block on it thinking it was stolen, once i verified that i really did want to spend money in sweden then it went through just fine. Maybe call the fraud department for your card and see if there is any issue like that? Another thing im not sure about, i havent made a depo since they implemented the new security stuff, so im not sure how all that works. Some sort of extra password you get from the credit card company to use your credit card online? I hope its easy to figure out once i depo again. narfi
I am depositing and it works stable, except at times when there are anouncements on the webpage. Just to confirm I made a small deposit via the webpage with my credit card and there was no problem. If it does not work in your particular case you may want to contact support as described in an earlier reply. This game is a bit like the real life, not only because it is about real money. You pay quite a lot of penalty for things which look like bringing fun but are also can be seen as stupid. Hunting big fancy looking mobs, which are mutch to strong for the current skill level, with a big weapon wich needs advanced skills is an example for that. Unfortunately this way the lesson to learn becomes extraordinary expensive. On the other hand, starting to explore the world, finding TPs and other helpful places, making friends with others, picking up some free items, doing some sweating (and getting killed many times while doing all that) can be fun and will slowly build up skills and value and is all free. (Skills can be sold). Learning to trade with the hard earned sweat will make a few extra PED. I agree, that I have seen many avatarss, which did not like this approach. They sooner or later leave, even if they were supported by others. However just moving around, one can see many others who like this style of game and enjoy it, a lot of them for many years already. Everyone has to make the decision to play or not to play this game. You can play EU for free, you can play it with little investment or your can burn money like hell as long as you can afford it. The amount of invested money howevere, for me does not directly translate in the fun you can get. There are many (advanced) players who are willing to support new players (not with PEDS and free weapons) but with hints, tips and knowledge. The community is one exiciting aspects of this world.
Remacno, I'm fairly new myself and I understand your frustration. The first two sessions (several hours total) I played in early January were spent being killed over and over again at Serpentine, so I understand the feeling of being vulnerable, unsure what to do in the game, learning the interface, and keyboard direction controls. Fortunately--by some form of miracle--I made it to a safer area by madly dashing to a teleporter and randomly jumping to another location! Without any funds yet, I simply walked up to some folks and asked if anyone spoke American, and long story short one person befriended me, answered some basic questions (where am I, what is this place...), I ended up joining a Next Island society, and was given some basic things to start out with--including a rifle, ammo, and some armor. I suggest putting yourself out there, attempt some in world dialog with some folks, and ask for some help. Learn to enjoy the experience and try to hold back on going too fast. Personally I am in love with how the Next Island is designed and I'll run, hunt, and now mine simply enjoying the time in world. Something else--the people I've met on Next Island are really helpful--including many of the posters who have shared their thoughts on this thread. Lastly, yes, I did end up depositing some money, but I budget my expenses wisely and I'm looking to be in this game for the long haul. If you ever see me in world, say hello! Tom
It is a tad difficult to start without the Peds.. I had a Noob Club, but that quickly broke. I have 0.36 ped left to my name though, so that's something. ^ ^ Just not enough a something to be useful, hehe. It's also hard to get around, what with legions of Papoos everywhere. The ocean and rivers are the safest place for me to get around. I recall someone mentioning that sweat can maybe be bartered? I find that odd since the stuff seems to be worthless.. until made into Mind Essence, I'm guessing. I have no idea how to do that, though.
