Next Island Time Travel Secrets Revealed

    For almost 3 months the Next Island pioneers have waited anxiously for news on how time travel would work, what would be involved, and how it would all play out. Now finally that information is revealed to us, and its not bad. It's actually pretty good!

    Time Travel Crystals can be obtained via crafting. The blueprint is available through a quest at Crystal Resort from the Papoo Sebastian. This papoo, along with multiple other papoos throughout Next Island seem to only talk to "new" players, that is players below a certain skill threshold. Folks meeting this criteria can talk to Sebastian and receive a quest to kill 50 Boars around the area. Upon completion they receive a Time Travel Blueprint (L), which creates the Time Travel Crystal.

    Some might think this is a bad thing, excluding older players, but the story doesnt end here! One of the requisite ingredients to create this crystal is a Drake Heart -- a new item! This item can only be obtained through working with advanced players capable of killing Drakes! So what we have here isnt exclusion at all, but forced cooperation between new players and existing players to create an item necessary for the economy.

    This is a good move, in my opinion. What it does is give new players a goal besides sweating, and a purpose other than simply existing and getting by through subsisting on charities from advanced folks. They now have a commodity worth trading. Advanced folks also have a reason to work with newbies rather than talk down to them.

    in the past, when sweat gathering was similarly restricted, it only encouraged many players to sign up their pet cat, dog, or the rock in the backyard to continue to have an avatar "low enough" to gather sweat.

    granted, it may cost a couple of ped to kill 50 boars, but that'll be a small price to pay to collect a "restricted loot" blueprint. so, I'd hazard, if this is the only way to obtain this print, you'll have a flood of "alternate" accounts which will help no one. any markup on them will be small - especially if the quest is repeatable. as the drake heart is the key component (and likely the most difficult to acquire) it will carry the bulk of any markup collected by only those who can hunt said drakes.

    I think it's a terrible idea, unless the crystal print is very common and obtainable from various sources.

    by the way, how many clicks are on this limited print, anyway?

    Just 1 from what I am told. I havnt gotten my hands on the BP myself yet as I'm a bit too old.

    Might need to correct this a little bit. Seems like there are alot of ubers waiting to get their time travel crystals, so it may have been a login issue with some higher level accounts who were on earlier (myself included). I still cant get the quest, so I cant verify --- but my girlfriend can get it just fine!

    my guess is it will be like other prints, when you craft it you will have a chance of looting a new one. else it is going to be very difficult to travel to other eras.

    3 time crystals to travel (each time I assume) so if the bp only loots from this quest it will take 3 newbies to make 1 trip. If the crafter is successful when he uses the BPs.

    So there will be a limited number of chances to go back to the past, unless we get a constant stream of newcomers, and even then there won't be enough crystals for everybody so the price will go insanely high and only the rich will be able to afford it.

    Thats why I think the more logic scenario is that the BPs will also drop from crafting.

    I dunno. I can't get the mission at almost 3 yrs old and 165k skills. My wife's ava is currently on Calypso still so I haven't tried with her. Problem there is.... she hunted Skeleton Sea Artists with an UL pistol and EK-2600 fap in ghost for 3 weeks straight probably 6-8 hrs a day. I haven't done a skill count but between that and several k PEDs auto crafting up there I'm hoping there isn't a "skill threshold". Hopefully it's a "birthday" limit. Would be a shame if my wife can't get the mission even though she was a Next Island pioneer purely because she's spent alot of money on NI and may possibly have too many skills.

    I would love an OFFICIAL response to this.

    I dont think its birthday related. My girlfriend and I created avatars within 1 month of each other, shes not next island native, and is well over a year old... no trouble on her end though. The difference is she plays very little, while I play alot -- and have the skills to show for it!

    Figures I would be flying to Arizona for a week when we get time travel. I do like the way they set this up. I really don't see many people trying to create multiple avatars to get crystal bps. +rep to Next Island for finally letting us time travel and bringing back the sacred boars.

    THIS IS TOTALY RIDICULOUS !!! 3 months, 3 months I have been waiting for what? I do the quest and get a (L) bp with ONE atempt on it, ONE atempt, and to bout, it takes 29 items to even try it. It's the same poo all over again, you have to spend a fortune to do anything here. Magyar with all due respect, you are totaly wrong! the only thing this is gona do is frustrate ppl. I thought this world would be diferent but looks like its not. It may be the most beautifull place around but it cost a fortune to do the simpelest things. 10 years ago when PE started it may have been very special and one of a kind but it's not anymore, there is a ton of compitition out there now. I want to time travel NOW not in another 3 months and not by spending a coupple of hundred USD to hunt down or buy at redicoulous mark up's on auction the materials needed to do it.

    Whoever is runing this world, lets get one thing straight, I'm the customer, I'm right, I'm the girl that pays your salary and you better start treating me better or your gona be standing in the unemployment line, not me! I'm gona go play Runes of Magic right now, you should check out that game to see how it's run and how they treat their customers, you might learn something!

    On the amount of items needed and the amount of tries on the blueprint -- yes this is a problem. I wasnt looking at the economics of the implementation, merely the mechanics of it. I approve of the mechanics. The economics of this situation however tell me rather plainly that time travel crystals will cost at least 20 ped a piece after markup, and with 3 needed to move between time zones the expense of traveling from planet to planet will likely be cheaper. :-)

    I think this was an attempt by the team to try to encourage socialization and an economy between newer and established players though. That is a good idea. Perhaps refining the cost would help, though.

    Ever think of having multiple crystal types that need only a few items to create, but different combinations used in order to go to different time periods? Similar item sinks would be created based off period demand, while individual cost could potentially be decreased.

    has anyone tried clicking any normal components? basic filters, springs, conductors etc...? Those are looting the mission bp on rocktropia so I would guess teh same on NI. Someone do 1k+ clicks of one of those and let us know your results?

    I did a mini run of 500 clicks on basic conductors earlier, didn't get any bp's :( maybe try some more latter.

    I completely agree with that post. At least from my point of view it is the truth. Hell I would even play ROM instead too but unfortunately it seems they lost my acc during that hack attempt on their database. :(
    Or well maybe THEY didn't loose it but I was too late to discover some pwd reset stuff after it. lol

    the NI specific mission time crystal BP is being looted from general crafting over on rocktropia? oh my. someone really has seriously thrown a spanner in to the works on this content update.

    re read what i said....

    The rocktropia mission bp is being looted on rocktropia from clicking components, i am suggesting that you should try and click components on NI to try and loot the NI mission bp.
