  2. You must be getting heavy! :)

  3. Strange that in Ancient Greece you can loot such a variety of items you cannot use. The Fap 10 and MF chip are a surprise.

  4. Fox

More surprising is ammo in the Loot. :palm:

  5. Why is it surprising that MA fraked up the loots again?

  6. madcaz

Come on, not all bad....purple paint!!!

  7. This is really freaking me out since I'm descended from the Amazons

(My mom is Wonder Woman and my dad is Steve Trevor.)

planet partners are responsible for the loot content as well as resource allocation. MA just approves the drop frequency, although this appears to be by agreement and not necessarily validated prior to the release onto the production system.

  9. Do you have a source for that? It was my understanding that all the drops and everything loot-related is regulated by MA, at least according to the statements that i've read, both from MA and PP's. Of course i could be mistaken - we're only humans after all - and that's why i'm asking for a source :D

the best I can do, at this moment is this.

note that skam is referring to spawns. a spawn includes type, maximum density, and frequency.

regarding loot content, partners obviously can create their own and choose from what they drop and in which areas.

you're right that MA regulates what should happen for balancing purposes - and, all should be well.

however, if this regulation is by agreement and the onus is on the planet partner to adhere, there is a huge hole where mistakes can be made. particularly, if the partner is sloppy in their codification of the agreement. the platform cannot assume all verification duties, as the cost to them is prohibitive and they have a reasonable expectation that the partner knows what they are doing.

although if MA (the platform) doesn't have 'validation check' (be it manual or automated) before the update is put onto the production system, sloppy errors on a partner's effort will be made live. in this case, they both have a shared responsibility for the fallout.

in the end, the platform shouldn't care what content (or density) the partner wants, providing it's not disruptive to everyone else.

yes, mistakes are bad and they're going to happen. the product parties involved have a responsibility to see that such mistakes and their affects are minimized while keeping creative control with those who are creating the content.

  11. I've bolded my main point. The assumption that PP's have choice on what drops from where. It's unfortunately a bit late here and i don't have the time to search for it, but i remember ND stating around the time of Rocktropia's launch that they can only give proposals to MA about the stats of their guns or the BP ingredients, but MA decides the final numbers to be sure that they fit with the games economical balance. And, if memory serves, he had also stated that not even he knew which mobs would drop what.

It seemed immensely stupid as a contract rule, to create a planet with so little control, but then i realized that without it in place the whole balance would go to hell - and thus the only way for MA to guarantee to all PP's the market balance was to control all loots themselves.

I understand what you're saying, and I believe we are talking about the same thing - just not to the same degree. I remember jon making that statement. however, it does not preclude the platform approval model.

if a partner wanted a handheld chicken that fired eggs with area damage, they could certainly create it. in negotiation with MA they would agree on what drop rate was necessary (for economic balance) based on the proposed statistics. MA would have the final say. I suppose there would also be a limit as to how ridiculous something could become. but, we do have a michael jackson planet coming, so this limit must be pretty liberal.

I'm certain that this is true for non-planet specific loot. however, for items specific to a planet, it would be difficult (if not impossible) to build the planet economy and design regional areas without knowing what drops from what, in which area, and with what general availability.

to have the platform be responsible, exclusively, for all loot elements outside of the 3d model is a huge workload for the platform. this is not to say they cannot insist on this, just that it's technically intensive and a cost drain on the organisation. it's better and more efficient to allow the partner to do this themselves - subject to approval.
