I'm certain the last few months were not that much fun and not whatr you had expected.

 

Well to say the least I am very disappointed! And extremely frustrated because of this news. Not even going to ask...........wouldn't get a answer anyway.

Went and played with a few flash games to release some of the frustration.

I also hope that there is more time spent on updates and content then there is on advertising

The slow implementation and bugs have taken their toll. Until they have this all fixed and ready, I'm done with Next Island.

Hmmm... Arkadia/Cyrene or NI.... I figure by the time the NI update comes, we will (Hopefully learning what not to do) have a fully functioning Arkadia/Cyrene launch which means most people will be running there.

Hard to believe that a planet that has been out for so much longer is going to be at the same stage as a new planet(s) that just released... and... if Arkadia publishes updates regularly while NI follows the current trend and publishes a major update every 6 months to a year I don't see much long lasting success.

I love NI, but even if us new NI born players are losing faith and trying out other planets what's that got to say for the planets longevity. I kept the faith for as long as I could, but after getting kicked in the balls time and time again, you kinda feel like giving up.

I guess Ill probably be staying on Calypso for a little longer until there is at least an interim update for NI.

 

hmm sounds like the Planet Parners, and investors have an optimal "Time to Shine", The Harold in this case, is not to blame, But can be a deciding factor in damage control here. I think the players <aka. the Real Investors> are speaking..... and it does not sound good. We need a response from someone high up the food chain. Why was this allowed to happen? Why were we allowed to play on a planet not ready? Why was another planet made available that also does not function? Why is there a lack of Information from the PP's on how things will be addressed and in what order? A time frame of when we have time, is not good enough, and 2 months away is a blow off. NI needs to be addressed now, before more people leave, and the economy will be destroyed forever.

 

TKS meg for the info re update time frame . I do hope that the existing problems/bugs/issues with NI are fixed first, when might that be ? I hope before NI expands to something bigger. Someone said focus on the "now problems"" Then build the big picture""..

 

I'm just going to put this out there:

Arkadia is not going to be released by June. Arkadia is not going to be an awesome world, everything that Entropia could have been and should have been on Planet Calypso. Arkadia doesnt even have the funding to properly and completely develop a web portal. Follow some of the links around there. Watch the page load up white backgrounds in places. Try to load the images. Watch the "Test X" headlines start to pop up.

Arkadia is hype. Who is Arkadia Studios? Where are the ingame screenshots?

People need to stop fooling themselves with the notion that somehow Arkadia is going to solve things. Putting this particular developer up on a pedestal is a fools errand. Half the problem with EU is the developers. The other half is the community. Folks want to believe they arent wasting their money so badly they'll jump on anything to do it -- justifying their large expenditures with shreds of hope stitched together with thread made of dreams.

Its an illusion.

It's time for the EU price bubbles to burst, and people to come down to Earth firm in the realizations that EU may be a good product, but its far from a great one -- and if that greatness is going to be achieved at all its going to take time, money, development, and most of all realism from the player base and clear communication from the developers.

Communication. Not hype.

 

Well since you put your rant out here I guess I can put my correction here too. :)
The website loads perfectly fine for me with a nice background image. Their webportal is in a much more advanced stage than the NI one... not sure what website you have been visiting. Their Forum has proper admins who would certainly stop you from posting such rubish about any planet. This forum doesn't or at least it doesn't as long as our posts stay here.

If you want to see good planet partner COMMUNICATION I recommend you to read the posts by the developers on arkadiaforum.com and for the questions on funding and the team read:
EntropiaPlanets Presents: EntropiaTimes magazine March 2011 which has a focus on Arkadia.

For now you may be able to dragg down professional work to the lower standards of other PPs... but after launch day that will not be possible anymore. :)
Now to get back to the topic of this thread: It makes me really sad that I have some items left in NI storage since I planned to return there but obviously the devs do not plan to give any incentive to go to NI so they will just have to decay to dust there.... I am not even sure if they would pay for a one way journey anyway. Is there any way to see what items are in NI storage or did they not implement that on their webportal yet?

I'll be on Next Island as well. There's really no place to go that will be any better. The situation in EU is what it is, for better or for worse.

Regarding the post Xerox made, he seems to have misunderstood my intention as some sort of propaganda. Its not -- its simply trying to bring everyone back to Earth from whatever plane of existence their thoughts might have wandered to. I'm an EU player and enthusiast too. I'm not on any sort of crusade to pump up worlds, or advertise for any sort of planet partner. I only want two things: for the community to have reasonable expectations of the developers, and for the developers to have a reasonable relationship with the community.

In order to do that we need to keep things real, not invent some sort of mythology of salvation to cloak the next best planet in.

Here's a dose of reality --- From Planet Arkadia's website. As you can see, the level of quality across EU seems to be rather consistent. That they have example content on their facebook, but not on their primary web portal only serves to further exemplify this. It seems as if they too are understaffed and prone to overlooking aspects of world and community building.

The long and short of that is:

You never should have been able to.

Breer, Omegaton, and all those other fancy names are part of Calypso lore. They are companies made up by MindArk when Planet Calypso was created as part of the backdrop for that world. They should have no more relevance beyond Planet Calypso than the Moonwalk has beyond Planet Michael.

Besides, P5A is a crafted weapon. You'll need to find a crafter to make it for you, regardless of location. Its not something you buy off the shelf.

 

You can pick one up from my booth at Club Neverdie. They are a bit above MU because I have to import them from Calypso and need to recover my travel costs. I buy in bulk though so I can divide that cost among them. :)

 

i paid like 50 ped to get my breer p5 over here, but since hunting here is useless and mining is HORRIBLE i put mine in auction... when it gets sold im heading back to calypso :/
i don't like it but im not a millionaire so i cant afford to play on NI

as a side note, mining really is HORRIBLE on NI.. on calypso i usually profitted from mining most of the time, and all-in-all i was profitting from mining, but on NI, even with an area that has the exact same resources as you can find on my mining spot on calypso, i still ended up with LESS than 30% of what i spent each run... that is really, REALLY bad... i tried it many, many times... and it was god awfully horrific return on my investment every single time... so.. bye bye NI, i will miss what i thought NI would be...

 

Seems the small break i had to take for RL reasons couldn't have come at a better time. Fingers crossed that we'll see a few BP's before June to keep the players happy and get the economy rolling.

If not, a lot of people will be unhappy, but i guess it'll be ok on the long run. After all, vacation season for Islands usually starts around June anyway and they will have all the time till then to get ready for the tourists :)

 

Sorry to hear that, however, I have great hunting experience in Next Island. So far, it is one of the best hunting places. I've already decided to stay here permanently.
