  2. Any chance of NI blueprints I wonder?

  3. Or at least some useful stuff to loot?

  4. I would not expect much.... its July now.... and nothing has been officially pushed back... seems the only thing that goes on time are the player events.... That was a fun race to watch, and we have had some good scavenger hunts... never a player event pushed back....

p.s. although was tempted to move the last scavenger hunt to a more populated and working area.... but we had fun anyways, and thanks again to those who helped the next batch of new players get a jump start 8)

    p.p.s I love this one, the 5 P's <Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance>

  5. To be fair I'm not expecting anything more then some new transformers stuff, I think our next big update is in August with Arkadia's.

  6. To be perfectly fair, and brutally honest..... what happened to June? and all the dates before that?

Its an incomplete product..... where's the beef?

  7. 3 years in the make until now — and pretty much nothing but landscape. :/

  8. A game, like a landscape, is a state of consciousness varying with players :)

  9. Earth has in the works for roughly 4.5 billion years before it was ready for humans. NI team did it in much less time, I think that deserves some credit :)

  10. Yep, I am positive that's why they kicked it.

  11. Really? Your going to compare creating earth to a game? And I am not a bible reader but wasn't man created on the 6th day?

Not to say they don't deserve some credit, but come on there are just some things that should have come first and should be in the game at this point.

  12. Oh I know they Should have had things in order already. But after some delays and well utter screw ups they seem to be on the right track now. I think the real problem was that their development was being done by a third party at the start, when in house would have much more efficient.

Oh and man was created on sixth day, but God had always existed so by that comparison it took God an infinite amount of time to create a place for humans to live :P

  13. Is it really a question of efficiency, or rather a lack of leadership? If you don't have a clue about this game and how Entropians are wired, how do you push development into the right direction?

  14. Well that's if you believe the stories :P

  15. I think lack of efficiency is the biggest problem. If you can't get work done in a timely manner then it really doesn't even matter if your going in the right direction, your too bogged down to go anywhere. Although a lack of experience about how EU works can be good and bad. So far NI is the only Planet created by someone who does not play, so likewise they are not stuck in the same line of thinking as the rest of us.

  16. Taking a look at the east and far west of NI it becomes very obvious… LAs, eye candy and taxes.

Times have changed, though. The masses are not gonna refinance their houses to play Entropia Universe. Content will be king!

I read that the main target is the socializing semi-professional SL player.

So, seriously, what can they expect after like three (!) years of development (game mechanics already in place MA-wise)? An indeed beautiful scenery, time travel crystals to craft and an uncolored long-sleeve shirt to buy for $19 USD?

  17. Hey I didn't say it was a finished product yet, just pointing out that we have gotten more working content since Harold Sipe took over then in the months of broken updates that we got when the design was contracted out.
And I'm sure the ND island was not Mr. Posts, perhaps advised by ND using the popularity of the original CND as a selling point.

  18. It kinda of tickles me that I get back after a long run of freelance and travel to find the many changes, and not so many changes that have happened on NI. I recently was working with an undisclosed company doing think tank work on world building environmental landscapes, event set piece that players could enjoy, and doing so on a pre-existing landscape in the easiest way possible. An while many of the people involved had great concepts and artistic direction, each one seemed to be based on a skill set other then game mechanical interaction with the player, as if to have the total lack of experiences with a wide range of gaming. Needless to say my month of work that only netted me about $2000, involved me pulling many of the games marketing devs and artists in to a closed room with with a projector TV while I forced them to take turns playing games together based on the feedback they gave me. I am not saying that NI has this issue, but it could be a possible one.

If it is a lack of a EU player mindset then there are allot of other issues that might come in to play, like ecosystem understanding and cohesion between the game elements that are already in place. I find myself looking at NI and its development to dependent on the idea that "hey there is an existing player base that that will be willing to filter in for a new experience." which in my opinion is the totally the wrong direction of how the set up of NI is being played out. But then again MindArk in general severely lacks the understanding of beginning game mechanics. I think Portal has done the best job of this as a game, and games of all genders could look and learn from it. Builds the world in a simple way, the game presents itself as nonthreatening as it can, it displays the games mechanics in simple steps while progressing its over all idea, and then about the 80% mark, the game takes the training wheels off and unleashes you on the game world.

Anyway.....yep, hope to see more soon, and to see what direction they take it on.
Also I will be available for any freelance work after August 26 when I get back from Italy (wink wink) lol.
