this is the first game in like...ever that I have played that doesn't have a simple assignable button or hotkey to take a screenshot to a folder and be done with it. As far as I can tell the shortest method here is Shift+Prt Scr, open MS Paint, paste, save in your desired format to someplace, then edit it later with whatever. That is so cludgy it's hard for me to contemplate. I've played the dumbest little games that had a screenshot function. Is it just on some hidden page of the Action Book and I'm just blind? I checked out PE Ass(istant) solely for the screenshot module but not only didn't it seem to take screenshots, but it disabled my mouse to do more than move the cursor around, so off that goes. Shut it off and my mouse works again. Saving the maps included in the install and uninstalling. So yeah, am I missing something and/or is there a better way? What do people use, Fraps? Does that take screenshots or just movies...I'm running Windows XP with an aging card and my rig is a little challenged. (overdue for a new pc.)
Yes, both screenshots and movies. Doesn't take alot of resources, easy to use. The free/trial only has 30 sec of video if I remember. I think its worth the cost to buy it.
I use the Entropia Tracker client to automaticly screenshot my globals and team globals, as well as the ability to just hit print screen and it saves a screenshot in a folder for me. LOL you have no idea how much time you would save. Maybe that is why I have so many pictures, one button and done :)
I have to look into these, aye it makes me crazy to stand ingame for 2 minutes while I do all that stuff. Still can't believe such a simple thing isn't just part of the interface. I mean, seriously, every game I've ever played that had a GUI had a screenshot key, but this one.
I would also like to recommend EntropiaTracker! Part from functionality for screenshots: The automatic timestamp, auto death position etc is very handy. Plus, you will also help feeding the tracker with the (modest amount of) local globals from Next Island! :)
To be honest, I run Fraps here, but the ability to grab and share screenshots was one of the major reasons I wanted to work with Raptr.
Personally, I use a low-resource app called Lightscreen Portable, over at the Portable Apps website. You can set up hot keys for entire display, a selected window, and selected area. You can also define where the screen caps go to on your computer. Very handy little app I use all the time, plus it can go on a flash drive if you wish! Hope this helps. Tom
