Like new weapons and items but hate landscape. I jsut left and will never return until its an island paradise again. You have pushed me away the last time. Get it together and put NI back to and island paradise. -Bemo-
The only thing that has changed in the landscape is Crystal Center, which is not as shiny and annoying as the bases we got with the previous update. On the contrary, i find that the gritty style of the camp fits - you wouldn't expect metal and tiles to remain sparkling in a tropical climate.
Sorry the first time I disagree with you. I also didn't like the bases in the previous update nor this crappy graphical one. I would rather see more huts and or army green tents. And happy to hear that this is the only place they messed up, but hopefully it will be changed back.
There are plenty of different sharks in the sea. For sure, Next Island has always been and still is a paradise :)
Not quite. In the old Crystal Center the 'tents' are still there but one is empty apart from some storage boxes, while the other is just as it was. They've also removed the TP from it's little island and picked up and relocated Caroline's, leaving an empty field where it used to be, but still with the paths leading up to it. Since they've gone to the troube to do that I do find it odd that the welcome banners and 'Village' signs leading from the old Crystal Bay, are still there. I do like the Papoo Village, where Sebastian can now be found.
To each his own -- there are still plenty of beaches and jungle on Next Island for sunbathing and exploring! Glad you found Sebastian's new home, SylverDragon! I was wondering if I should post directions to his new home or let you all discover him.
Each to his own? Nice way of thinking. Maybe you should worry about what the player base thinks not what you think is better or worse. -Bemo-
I enjoyed finding it, as I will the Mysterious Glade. I am at heart an explorer, so the new TP's and mobs are nice. Hopefully this trend of new things will extent to future updates for both NI and AG, but in fitting with the setting - one new Crystal Center is enough.
I agree we all have our own tastes and opinions. Some people like the new layouts, some of us do not. And yes, I also agree that the PP should listen to what the majority of players like, after all they are the ones who ultimatlely will be paying your salary. I really dislike the look of crystal center now, but has been mentioned that is only one area, and the one I will avoid spending time in. I haven't explored the rest of the planet to see if or how its has changed. But from what I have heard so far the rest is the same. I will keep fingers crossed that it remains that way.
Humm I like the colonial base kinda look so long as its constantly updating and becoming more and more paradise with time going on that would be neato to see how things change over time as the collonests integrate the land XD
I just got back last night, and I was unsure what I would think about the changes. While flying over the old Crystal center, it seemed a little sad the the most things had been removed, leaving paths to nowhere, but it was a confusing area to start out - I hope it gets a little attention in the future. I landed on the beach and walked into the new Crystal Center, and found I liked more than the pictures I had seen. This tropical paradise needs a rugged beachhead from which it will be explored, so the look of it seemed to fit the story much better. It was a nice blend of scientific/explorer detritus among the locally sourced buildings on the beach (and elsewhere on the planet). I hope it will develop over time as the planet grows - but it fits for now. The fenced in boar fields have the run down look of rapidly decaying untended places in a tropical climate - no one has been here to tend to things. I gives a gritty feel to the human outpost in the jungle. It also makes me want to get back out into the unspoiled wilds, exploring and hunting. I decided it was a good change, and I have never seen so many people at once - or as many items on auction. I feel better about the future. I had stopped on Ark on the way, and did their new arrival routine. I left with the same feeling I always get there - everything it far too scripted and polished to where it feels like a game, not a world. It looks nice, but it all seems forced. Do this, do that, go here, go there, don't think - just follow orders. After a few hours I couldn't wait to get away. Next Island has the open, make your own way, do what you want feeling that I always liked about Calypso - but it is also new and unexplored, raw. More natural than Ark, less developed than Caly, not stupid like RT - I feel like a pioneer here. It feels good to be back. Good Job! Miles
It might not fit with what we're used to from NI, but the new Crystal Center does make sense according to the back story. There was a first wave, they had time travel, it only makes sense that they'd have a base somewhere. The Containers also fit the look, as does the look. It's not shiny but a bit run down, exactly as an old base should look in a tropical environment with heat and moisture. Also loved the attention to detail, with various posters and really appreciate the new player experience, both with equipment and with uses for crystals from petit papoo that give a newcomer a source of income way more interesting than sweating. As long, and I can't state that enough, as this base remains the only one on the planet. More spots like this will indeed ruin the atmosphere, while it's interesting to see that more and more people start hanging out at CND. After all, we can hang out wherever we want. p.s. Hopefully the update that will return a teleporter to old Crystal Center will also see the return of some of the wooden buildings in the now empty spots.
