For those of you not familiar with the whole idea, The Netherlands is "run" by a queen (Beatrix). Every year, on April 30th, the Dutch celebrate Queen's day, which (perhaps surprisingly) has nothing to do with drag queens. It is also not, contrary to popular belief, the queen's birthday. [IMGALIGNLEFT]http://www.entropiaplanets.com/gallery/pics/3/camelman.jpg[/IMGALIGNLEFT]It is actually the birthday of the Queen's mum (the late Priness Juliana). It was created as a national holiday when queen Beatrix took over the job from her mother, as a tribute. Traditionally, a day where the Dutch dress up in Orange (the royal colour), hold street flea markets, and sport silly hats. Entropia Universe has its own version of Queens day. The "Groene Draeck" (Green Dragon in English - www.groenedraeck.com) scoiety throws the Queens Day Party in Corinth Beach every year, and one is expected to show up dressed in some form [IMGALIGNRIGHT]http://www.entropiaplanets.com/gallery/pics/3/panda.jpg[/IMGALIGNRIGHT] of orange geart. According to their spokesman Bastian "CamelMan" deGreijze, the Queen's day party is the oldest annually recurring party on Calypso, having been thrown since 2003. During the day, messages were broadcasted to announce the party, leading to a pretty decent colorful crowd when it started. Within the hillside apartment chartered for the pary there were a few dozen party people, with more of them gathering at the TP down below. There was a lot of creative dresses and outfits - all kept in the Dutch traditional colour, orange. After the party, prizes were handed out for the best dancers. For the females, this was Lady MNEMOSYNE, and in the gents-category, Mr. Sam Panda was awarded first prize. The dance was followed by the traditional group picture, and a small treasure hunt, which was won by Leo NewShoes Johnson. The party, however, continued on Corinth Beach for a long time - with dancing, happy people in orange.
