Performance Update The MindArk development and engineering teams continue to work hard on improving the stability and performance of the Entropia Universe system and to resolve the recent lag issues. Several fixes and improvements have been implemented over the past week or so, and have helped to mitigate many of the issues experienced by participants. However, several performance issues persist and are related to deeper workings of the Entropia Universe platform and thus will take a bit longer to solve. Our primary focus is to solve the remaining performance issues as soon as possible, resulting in other development projects being postponed and/or deprioritized. Another patch is scheduled for early next week, containing the most recent fixes and optimizations. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this ongoing process. Source
"We tried to fix the lag but failed to do so because the game's programming is seriously screwed up". "Please keep playing and we'll get back to you anon".
The last months had so many maintenance and performance "updates", it already feels like these will be the only "updates", we will be recieiving in a very loOoOooOng time. Desperate signs of "we arent dead (yet)" ?
TBH people have been shouting "enough with random stuff we didn't ask for - fix the damn bugs/lag" for years. So I guess we shouldn't complain that they are now trying to do that?
All I could SEE while these "performance updates" took place, was calypso forum splitting into 2 rival camps. Camp A: FUCKING LAG FIX IT, JESUS FUCK THIS SH!T, UNPLAYABLE Camp B: There is no lag, you suck Camp A, its all in your head While I would join Camp B, I do fully understand Camp A. My condolences, but this is MindArk...and you knew it all before, Camp A. ;)
Well, the funny part here is Camp A are active players while in Camp B we have a lot of trolls who haven't logged in for a while. :) And please..I'm not talking about the camp C people here.
That's interesting... So from my experience, personally I've found Entropia to be exceptionally robust to an internet connection I knew was totally fucked (major packet loss pinging stuff but Entropia barely struggled noticably). We got our aging cable model replaced and all was good btw. I had another experience where the game wasn't laggy as such but performance wasn't good. Then I replaced my PC and the difference was amazing. I do wonder if I'd see a similar improvement today if I had a PC that didn't have a 10 year old CPU. At the moment though, I'm not seeing any reason to buy a new PC. This one is fine for the majority of games I find. I do find that Entropia performs not great when there are lots of avatars around but it's fine any other time and lets face it. There are almost no locations with lots of players hanging around. The newbie area is about it. It amuses me though that now "lag doesn't matter" (because missed aim doesn't count) people moan. Still, I'd like to see the game perform better with multiple avatars on screen. I can't really see why it should be such a performance hit. I know it's unlikely but it would be nice if MA could get performance good enough for VR. Wistrel
