Which movies have you seen lately?
Would you advise them to others, and why?

I recently watched From Paris with Love ... it stars John Travolta, and he's at his best bad boy self for sure. It has major action (violence), drama, twists and turns, humor, and non-stop intensity, or at least that's how it felt to me. I really enjoyed the movie.

  3. Seen Repo- Men, liked the story, pretty gory but definetely something I'd see again.
Also watched The A-Team, another good movie with plenty of action which is fun to watch. Also watched Predators, decent movie, good for a slow afternoon or evening

  4. Schindlers list.

I love post-apocalyptic movies, aswell as zombies & vampires, so I usually give movies in those genres some slack. However, The road (Viggo Mortensen) and The book of Eli (Denzel Washington) which I both had high hopes for, were completly waste of time.

In essence they were quite similar - 2ish hours of walking around contemplating, instead of entertainment (granted Gary Oldman in book of eli was ok, but when is he not ok). I'd take Resident Evil over that anyday.

Daybreakers was another one I thought must be good (zombie-esk vampires in a somewhat post-ap setting, how can that be bad?) but no. Meek sissy vampire do-gooders. Besides, not a single hot vampire to be seen (i mean, gary oldman in bram stoker's dracula, or Alexander Skarsgård in True blood... *pants*)

Anyways, I recently re-watched the series Firefly, and it's still amazing, definatly a must see! It's like a very charming sci-fi with cowboy feel, unfortunatly only 14 episodes though.

Gary Oldman is the freaking bomb.

We recently watched Paranormal Activities, rumoured to be one of the scariest movies since Alien. I cannot say we were that impressed by it, though.

Lykke watched Pandora (I fell asleep), and thought it was quite good. She also watched Alice in Wonderland, which is "a little weird but very nice".

I'm personally hooked on Prison Break at the moment, which admittedly is not a movie, but a series. But it's quite well done :)

  7. I recently saw "Earthlings", it's by far the grossest film I have ever seen and I'd classify it as a "Propaganda movie". It's about how humans treat animals for their own purposes, such as food, clothing, entertainment, science.I would say it's strongly showing how the industry works from one angle. A thing between this and the other side of it, will be the most correct I'd say.

Jeez, yeah, Earthlings is a hardcore film. A real horror movie. A quote I heard though, went something like: "We must not deny with our eyes what they must endure with their bodies". In other words, it's important to witness and acknowledge that this stuff is happening in the world, which is the first step in dealing with it.

My favourite film has to be Home. I reckon it's the most important film of the generation and everyone should see it for fairly obvious reasons. Even if you're ignorant of the environmental issues, you can still enjoy the amazing photography through the whole film. The film is available in Youtube in its entirety for free, so go ahead and share it with the whole family (and spread the word!).

And while I'm here I might as well show you my other favourite film, Into The Wild:

As someone who lives in bush Alaska,
    The Bush (Alaska) -Wikipedia
where we live in beauty and simplicity and subsistence can still be a viable lifestyle, I must say that films and the people behind the films like Into the Wild and Grizzly Man Grizzly Man - Wikipedia frustrate me with how stupid people can be. They seem to go out of their way to discredit the reality of the causes they seem to want to champion.

I think some people view them as martyrs, but the reality is that its just a sad waste of life with no justification.

No offense against you dalas or anyone who enjoyed these films, hope it doesn't come across that way.

    None taken Narfi :)

I always stress to people I introduce to the film that the point of it isn't to focus on how "stupid" Chris McCandless was (always easy to say sitting on your sofa munching cheeseburgers) but rather the feeling of escape, adventure and wanderlust. Although I don't know much about the wilds of Alaska yet (I do plan to) or the family issues he had (I don't plan to), I do know a lot about being a young, itchy-footed male with a few sketchy philosophical views and just a touch of naïve innocence about me.

I don't know, I just feel I can connect with Chris on some level and I think almost anyone can see a bit of themselves in the film as long as they look past the "stupidity". About Grizzly Man I can't comment as I haven't seen it, but as far as I've heard it's something quite different to Into The Wild.
