Yo guys, I have an annoying little problem here with my new Google Chrome browser and BBCode. I used to use Firefox but then it started being slow on me, so I decided to use this new, seemingly lightweight Google Chrome. All fine... Until I make a forum post! I was always used to my Firefox automatically showing me the BBCode changes I made as I made them in the Edit window. Google Chrome does no such thing! For example when I bold this by highlighting "this" and clicking the nice B in the Edit toolbar, it gives me the BBCode but doesn't actually bold it in this edit window! It just shows me the code. I've looked in the Chrome and forum options but maybe I'm just too nooby to figure it out? Any advice?
In my opinion that is the way that it should work. Nothing wrong with it. If you wish to see the changes made and how people will see it then use the "preview post" You can't complain that firefox is heavy and at the same time want features that makes it so. (I'm using chrome at the moment and that's not what I dislike about it, I bloated it a little and now is more functional, it is too plain and raw the initial version, still not what I want so I have to use other browsers to do some stuff.) Some of the extensions I used to increase usability: Bookmarks Menu AdBlock ChromeAccess VerticalTabs Sexy Undo Close Tab Those are the general purpose I also add others with more specific intents like: Personalized Web RedTube Downloader PanicButton Spoofy I still will need more testing before I'm satisfied with most of this extensions.
Ah, MG, the point wasn't about Firefox being too heavy. I said "seemingly lightweight" because... Well... Chrome seems lightweight! The point was that although I can work with it showing the code instead of the changes, I prefer working with the changes, it just makes things a bit more tidy. I don't mind if it makes my Chrome a bit heavier. So, what I gather from your post is that "something" in my Firefox made it show me the BBCode changes as I made them. I still have no idea what that "something" is! Go easy on me, I'm pretty nooby with computers Thanks for those links by the way :)
It is correct to say that firefox is using some function to correct the BBcode directly to preview. I stoped using firefox on forums once I gave up trying to find out why after I posted it didn't update the thread, I had to press refresh to see what I posted (probably one addon broke it, next time I do a computer install I'll know which).
I thought that might be the answer, tried it, and nothing changed :S It only says "Remove Text Formatting" though and it doesn't change after I click it. I would assume this would change to something like "Add Text Formatting" after being clicked normally, and show me some kind of change. Alas, no change. I did try to google around on this topic, but it seems like quite a unique thing...Unless I'm just being confused by all the jargon I encountered surrounding the issue. I'll keep trying
It changes things: It removes the text formating that you've done So if the select the text: {B}example{/B} example The [ was replaced by { for easier visualization and then click the A/nonA in the upper left corner it will end has: example example But it will not remove {STRIKE}example{/STRIKE} [STRIKE]example[/STRIKE] {QUOTE}example{/QUOTE} since they are not considered "text formating"
