    The Ultimate Giveaway

This has to be the boldest competition of all time. Certainly the best prize ever in a player-based event. Naomi is giving away a Land Area which includes a teleport, global chat message and unique DNA.

A virtual dream come true for many players.

Naomi who is in Menace 2 Society started playing Entropia Universe when he saw an article about the sale of CND in a local ICT related website.

I take this opportunity to ask him about his earlier days, " I started getting sweat from Daikiba's, actually I was quite good at this and scrambling away when a Berycled approaches and trying to drown it before I would die. But before that, it took me like 2 days before I had figured out how to move around properly.” This brought back my own memories of when I had started.

Naomi jests, “Then you see big guys running around in full goblin armour, while you only have a few pixie parts.” I can see he is now getting into his early days. He continues, “Start hunting Daikiba, after a while Berycled as well, that was awesome!

Once I was running a bit further to the west from the old Port Atlantis, and I suddenly saw a Cornundacauda at the horizon, man! I was so shaken by its monstrosity that I logged off for the day! I thought I had encountered a very rare and most dangerous creature.” I laughed and we shared a few more memories.

I ask Naomi if his real life friends joined him, “I tried so much convincing my best friends, but they didn't seem to have the dedication for this. Some of them tried it out, but they wanted to be able to hunt some more for free before deciding to become more involved.” At which I couldn’t help thinking about the new Gateway for starters which allows them to hunt for free. Times change and wonder what the newcomer experience would be like twenty years from now.

Naomi bought the LA earlier this year from Gandalf, “My goal was to make some events, have a share of fun with it, and of course make some money with them.” So I ask the obvious question, why decide to sell it, “I made some improvements at the LA, had a share of fun with it, and some profit, but actually I'm kind'a fed up with it. It takes a lot of work to make a lot of money. I have 3 kids now, and I prefer spending more time with them as well. Right now I like to log in when I have some spare time, not on a planned schedule that an LA and events require. Also, I sold/traded my Improved FAP and I miss it. On top of that, a larger car would be better with 3 kids, since we travel a lot.”

When I asked Naomi about this event idea he wasn’t a hundred percent sure how he came up with the idea of giving it away, he smiles and says, “Sometimes ideas just pop into my mind.” At which I couldn’t help smiling myself.

I was a bit bemused why the poster for the event states at max two tickets per avatar. On questioning Naomi about this he responds, “You can participate in as many qualifiers as you want, but I don't see the use of that, since you can only win two tickets per avatar to the pre-finals. For this, the tickets for the next round will be handed out manually.” This reporter was still confused so, “I do this to make sure that some high-roller don't win all the tickets with the purpose of selling them. I want everyone to have a good chance. If someone gets more than two top two places in the qualifiers, the ticket will be given to the next one in line.”

Readers should also note as a safety clause players can only win if enough players join. If not enough players join, 95% of the money collected from ticket sales will become the prize. This is still likely to be somewhere between 150 000 and 250 000 peds.

Looking at the poster I noted most of the mobs are manageable by a mid-level player, except maybe the Proteron, “Well, first I don't consider Proteron Youngs as a hard mob. I think as good as all mid-level hunters can take those down. Secondly, I want to make it at least some challenge. Fappers are allowed.” At which I couldn’t help asking if he likes his curries hot and spicy, he responds, “I like Thai food”

Makes sense, I suppose it’s not just about money but about entertainment. What could be more thrilling than stretching yourself and hunting the Proteron.

  2. this is for sure one of the best event ever on EU. That on one side means "Compliment Naomi" on the other side means "damn MA/FPC, 6 years of events and still we need to wait the ..users... to see some very nice".

On the top of this, despite i can undestand kids, new car, time consuming etcetc we all know that the give away this land is a cosequence of a...ban (a very strange one) of Naomi. MA made a mistake, Naomi get upset. We always point out about the umbalanced loot, that medium players continue to loose money, that those hof on daikiba to newcomers are unfair etcetc..... now we can add also this ..... bad relationship with big investors. I think soon or late if MA/FPC or who for them MUST take care about all those issues. No one will invest time and money in this...platform if our sweden friends don t decide to fix those problems.

Just a minor correction on dendricalas post. Naomi was not banned. His avatar got locked by MindArk after he unknowingly sold something to another avatar who was using illegally obtained PEDs to pay for it.

(Feel free to correct me if the above is not accurate. I think that is what I read happened. I just figured I would point out there never was a ban).

  4. Almost Correct. I got locked by the Support Department because the avatar who bought my nemesis set, had been reported as a hacked account. Yes I was upset about being locked without first being told why, like any normal (business) relationship would do. After extensive contact with support I got it fixed fast. I understand their policy and action, but that does not mean I liked the 'your account has been locked' message lol. Support works in 90% of the cases I think, but a hotline would be real nice for urgent matters.

  5. yup , sorry for my miss information.
In any case, and also because i don t want to ruin your post, thx a lot for this event Naomi. Despite the ticket prices are expensive, the rules allow also a lucky avatar to win, also a not rich one. For this i really thx you.
