Microsofts latest Security Intelligence Report, released yesterday, cited the self propagating, data mining worm Taterf as one of the major emerging threats, with a rise of 156% in the last six months. The virus specifically targets users of MMORPGs, and along with keylogging, packet sniffing, and other assorted shenanigans, it attempts to determine your MMO login details.

all i can say is, thank fuck for the goldcard security system

  3. Yep. It's one of the first things I bought when I started out in EU.

  4. You can download the latest definition files for Windows Defender here (including the definitions needed for Taterf)

I recommend to install them ASAP, even if you have a gold card. There are plenty of techniques to hijack you account nonetheless (i.e. fake login screen)

Part of spending time on the internet is always making sure your security is up to date.

    nowadays this includes:

    - Personal Firewall
    - virusscanner
    - spamfilter
    - latest updates for all of the above preferably on a daily (or more) basis
    - a good dose of common sense before opening files or surfing internet pages or trusting people

Unfortunately this is the world we live in now and it is nessecary.
