You can't have subs without torpedoes

 

Though vehicles are a great addition to EU I really look back fondly on the days when you only had those two choices. It seemed much more adventurous and gave newer players trying to make it the hard way a good appreciation for the expanse of the game etc. And saving up for that first implant and tp chip. Now days I just see a bunch of hitch hikers bumming rides and it almost seems too easy. The exploration for teleporters was so much more intense when you had to run. It gave that real world feel of exploring and achievement since you could only do so many in a session or day.

 

Not just of the newbies. Now those of us that have the ability to TP around did so with no care for exploring by foot. The planet became smaller, and less interesting. Vehicles allow us to appreciate the dynamic land features and the fantastic perspective of never before seen views. I'll taxi someone for a small fee, but don't support 'I want tp x', that's their exploration, and you make that player weak and quit soon by helping them to get over hurdle 1 only to smack face on hurdle 2. However taking a newbie up above the surface, to allow them a view of the bigger picture is something special, it's a small gift that will likely give them a sense of awe that'll inspire further exploration.

As for the submarine - I'm sure we'll have the sea opened up at some point, with subs will thwacking big lights allowing for clearer views under water. I suspect at some point the waters will be put to good use, they already have a fantastic opportunity for hidden caverns, etc. Who knows maybe these are already waiting for an intrepid explorer...
