I received an email from David Post who asked me to share the following with the community:"I would like to provide my views on some of the comments made by Calypso players about Next Island. Firstly – this is my planet not Neverdie’s. I am happy to have Neverdie aboard with his destination because it is a place for more experienced players. The rest of Next Island is geared for newer players, power casuals and those who might check us out from Second Life. We gave Calypso players first dibs and have not really opened the door for the rest of the player population YET. So we arranged to have Jon’s club and area for the experienced gamers, and the newer players will probably want to come to the starter area. So we will appeal to all the players in one area or another. We also are soon to open Caroline’s, and that is another brand that will have a destination. Look for other brands to join us as well as destinations we create. I hope this clears things up."
Ok this does clear up somethings. So then it was my mistake for offering judgements previously when the Planet has not truly gone live. I stand corrected.
Thanks for a message from the planet owner to the players. I would say the message from the players to the planet owner is rather obvious: Conflict of interest| Being a regular participant and involved in development means a conflict of interest to be avoided. | 68.75% | Being a regular participant and at the same time involved in the development is no problem at all. | 32.25% | Consistency| I care about consistency of the settings of the games I play.| 80%| I don't care about inconsistent settings of the game I play.| 20%| Always good to have some focus group sessions I guess.
As I predicted, I didn't think ND was going against David Post's wishes in any way. However as Tass describes above there are still two issues.
welp i hope that all the people that bad mouthed ND and the soft NI launch all have clean feet, because you will be walking around with your foot in your mouth for a while now. and i will not comment anymore on this matter, and will neither reply to any more posts about this because i want all the negativity to stop so we can start to build something positive.
Well, the fact that David states NI is the way he wants it to be and the launch did/does progress according to the plan doesn't really make the issues that occured any better.
Your comment was totally predicted, but skewed based on all the data presented ... and for the record (I will speak for myself) ... I didn't think that ND created his island or launched it without David knowing about it, I said that the way it happened was poorly handled, and ... I still stand by what I said with regard to the ND branding all over the place (especially now that it's going to be expanded to other planets as he stated), but ... the biggest issue of all is the conflict of interest, and ... as the posting shows, many in the community are concerned about this as well.
I was done with this issue but, yay, someone had to start it again. no my feet are nowhere near my mouth and official statements are not necessarily worth more than the pixels that compose them. anyway, the statement contains little more than "it happened" and is "like that". dont know where you found your great insights in that, but I'm happy it works for someone :)
