The New Guy has Arrived~!

Well I thought I would make a formal introduction to the community at large as suggested by Dalas.

My in game name is Pexxil Pexx Pexxington I go by Pexx if you haven’t guessed already. I first heard about Entropia Universe recently in an Article I read on MMORPG.com I was immediately hooked on the idea of a real cash economy and the idea of differently themed planets for different play styles. I’ve played for a couple of days and did the blasphemous thing of depositing a few dollars to increase skilling. Then I realized I had no idea what I was doing and I think I wasted a lot of PED hehe (newbie mistake).

So then I started to do a little research on Guides. I read the Time magz which I found very informative, and a few guides on the Wiki. So I decided to put in my ANF (Adopt a Newbie Foundation) application in. I am eagerly awaiting a response from a society.

A little bit of background on me. I am 23, currently living in Columbus, Ohio working for a non profit organization. I am original from Texas, and yes I am guilty of saying y’all a lot. I am probably going to leave the non profit world after my contract is up this year and pursue work in some sort of government job. As far as gaming is concerned I am a big fan of MMOs. I first started with SWG pre-CU and NGE nerfs from hell. Probably my favorite long term MMO to date. After NGE I left for EQ2 formed my own guild and had the largest society (we call them guilds in that game) for about a year. Then I bought into the hype of the Holy Ghrail of Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. Again I created my own guild in that game and merged into another guild when a server merger happened to better benefit my members by combining our resources and work efforts and shared co-leadership with some others at that time. Then I saw the “light” that the game was not being developed quick enough and SOE who bought out the original company Sigil had little determination to fix problems and add content. So I decided to drop the game and take a short hiatus from the MMO cause. I basically felt burned by the game. Then my friend who I met in Vanguard said we should start a progression type guild (society) in original Everquest. Basically what that means is we did the oldest content to the newest content with certain in house rules in mind to keep things challenging for us. We did that for a year and half. I then went to Warhammer played for about 3 months and decided that wasn’t for me. Then I went to Darkfall:Online my second introduction to a sandbox game. I played that for about a year and half and decided to give up on do the fact that the small indie developers can’t deliver content in a speedy manor. This summer I went back to EQ 2 and started a progression guild (society) there and we are making great progress in it. I am still playing that game a long with Entropia Universe atm. That pretty much brings y’all up to speed of where I am gaming wise.

Why I have come to Entropia Universe? Well frankly I believe that it can be permanent home for the next 5 or more years(yes I feel that strongly about it). It has all the elements I love about sandbox, real cash economy, a variety of content being produced on a regular basis, strong community, loads to learn, a challenge element I haven’t seen in an MMO in a long while.

Entropia Plans: Well for the short term to get knowledgeable in the mining refining areas of the game. And learn how to sell my goods at a profitable rate so I can continue to grow my avatar. Another short term goal is I am patiently waiting for some knowledgeable society to adopt me. What I am looking for in a society are the following:
1.) A society to teach me in direction in the sense of learning the fundamentals of the game. “Teach a man to fish” type of mind set.
2.) Active voice chat (prefer Ventrilo as personal preference).
3.) Active forums in the society
4.) More specifically learn about the mining, trading, and possibly crafting markets, and everything that goes a long with them. (I don’t mind hunting, but it is not my main focus unless someone teaches me different).
5.) Strong leadership (insert gold star here)
6.) Nightly Events
7.) Group focus

What I have to offer a Society are the following:
1.) Hard Worker
2.) Can be self sufficient once taught.
3.) Dedicated
4.) Plans to be here for the long haul.
5.) Determined
6.) Aptitude to work with others.
7.) Team Player.
8.) Can help others if I am able to.
9.) Can Lead if needed.
10.) Not afraid to voice my opinion. (not so much to rock the boat, but can hold a conversation and view both sides of a discussion while giving my own opinion).

Long Term goals I have are to get involved in owning my own shop and real-estate at some point in my Entropian Universe career. Turning my hobby into a career and possibly play Entropioan Universe as my full time job :P

Well that pretty much sums up the world of me. I hope y’all enjoyed the read and I look forward to hearing from y’all. Till then I will continue absorbing information about Entropian Universe on the many forums out there.

 

I must concur that Lone Star beer is gross. I can only say that cause I am no longer in Texas :p

Well just a little status update for those interested. I was picked up by Lost Renegades through the ANF (Adopt a Newbie Foundation). I would like to thank Dalas for making the ANF possible for new players like myself. I would also like to thank Narfi for adopting me. Player communities like this really keep the game thriving in a productive manor. Keep up the good work guys players like myself really appreciate it.
