As for not hunting right before a VU, good idea. It's typically better to hunt right after a new VU got implemented, as new stuff might drop. On the downside is that you might encounter new (or old) bugs.

Mercury had some other negative vibes in the past (none that I personally witnessed, mind you), but I do think he has definitly turned for the better.

He still loves to PK, though, but that's all roleplaying. When push comes to shove, he's a pretty funny guy, who will not hesitate to help you out if it's within his abilities. Oh, and as long as he can call you a noob afterwards :p

 

VU11.7.1 Hype or Fail?

Narfi, in your latest blog entry, you brush off the finding of that new gun with a reference to the anti-material rifle. The difference is that anti-material rifles have about a handful of shots in them before they're all broken, whereas the new gun does not. As for the scanners, I think that those who are angry over the price drop *are* angry at MindArk. MindArk advertises EU as an investment platform, but then make sudden moves like this. At the same time, whoever did the balancing on the scanner really screwed the pooch with this move, as this single, in itself insignificant event, will have a long lasting effect, due to everyone now being clearly able to see that an expensive investment can be rendered almost worthless overnight.

However, the one thing people do seem to be ticked off with NEVERDIE about is the fact that someone who as it turns out has a business relationship with NEVERDIE Studios, apparently made quite a nice buck off the scanner drops. NEVERDIE himself was also very quickly aware, either right begore or right after the scanners dropped, as his bank essentially stopped taking them in to avoid losing money. This is EXACTLY the kind of inside information that people got all worked up about earlier. Jon can state that he is not privy to any inside information, but his actions appear to tell a different story. I am not saying he did leak or abuse information for personal gain, but the mere suggestion this is what possibly could have happened is bad. Very bad. Jon does not seem to realize that what he is doing here affects more than just him. It affects everybody who has any stake in Entropia Universe. MindArk has everything to lose, the Planet Partners who have been working their asses off and who have spent literally tens of thousands (or in some cases millions) of dollars stand to loose it all, and every player who ever deposited in order to invest in their avatar could see their in-game assets rendered worthless as well, all just because Jacobs refuses to act like a professional and stick to the contract he signed.

And to top things off, his press release with which he is seeking publicity about the banning of his avatar is based on lies. He is NOT a political prisoner, and him, his family and his employees not being allowed to play is NOT because of a witchhunt, but by his very own admission, because he failed to stick to the contract he signed:

He can try and spin things how he wants, and look to blame whoever he wants, including his childish retort by introducing "Forum Troll" mobs, but as I stated before, he only has to look in the mirror. He either willingly ignored the contract, or was foolish enough never to bother reading it in the first place. The contract states Planet Partners and their employees are prohibited from playing using private avatars. Had he retired NEVERDIE into an official partner avatar straight away when he launched ROCKTropia, none of this would have happened. He would not have needeed to create the smokes and mirrors about being a political prisoner. He chooses to bend the truth in order to seek more publicity for himself, hurts about every other person involved in Entropia Universe in the process, and it's hardly the first time, either.

Yes, Jon absolutely did a lot of promotion for Entropia Universe, and undoubtedly a lot of people signed up inspired by him. But at this very moment, he's a loose cannon. He is throwing all reason overboard just because his ego seems to refuse to accept that he messed up. And he is unaware that his actions have the potential to drag down entrie companies with him.
