Call me old

  1. Call me old but I sincerelly dislike the splash screen of RockTropia and all the Vixens. I am a father of 3 sons, 6, 8 and 10 of age and I like to play while they are awake. The Vixens are not for childs. I know there is an age limit of the game, but there's also onlookers. I don't hunt Vixens so that's easy, but the splash screen I can't do much about.

I really like Rocktropia, but I agree with you for all the same reasons. The new gang members really helped with options of non-sleazy mobs around making it easier to avoid the vixen types. The splash screen could defiantly be in better taste.

    Your old.

Okay you asked for it! LOL Personally I have`nt seen the splash screen but is`nt RT supposed to be a bit edgy? That and I`ll add that at least here in the US we are WAY too sexually uptight. Every one has got one and we all got here because they used them. My kids are 9 and 6 and I know how they got here.

Sorry for double post not sure what happened.

  5. I'm Swedish and I don't think we're known for being "sexually uptight" :) But it's not common with lap dances, pole dancing, striptease and other pay per view services. Maybe cause we get what we need from our partners at home instead. ;)

  6. I have kids too and can also not start EU when I am on RT. It's sad, because kids LOVE dragons that use fire... but well... it's ND as we know him: "any PR is good PR", so I don't expect a change to a more family friendly splash screen here. I expect as next image something even more bloody... which is fine, just means I cannot start the game, when my kids are around :D.

Smoerble I don`t think it`s much different then when my kids are looking over my shoulder as I play. They can read and the stuff that goes by in chat, the avatar names. It`s everywhere really and there is no sure way to shield them from it. They are becoming aware of most of it anyhow from neighborhood kids, tv etc.

I can't other then laugh at you all, if the splash screen is your biggest problem concerning your kids, haha.
Easy fix, just turn of the monitor while the game loads, how hard can it be?!

I believe it says more about the people creating the planet, than about the people playing it ...

True but it`s also conveying the feel of a lifestyle. It is Rocktropia. And rock and other genres of music have been in large part about sex, drugs and extreme culture. Edgy and a bit dangerous, adventurous. The alternative I guess would be the Disney Planet with fluffy bears and fairies on the splash screen. Sure they could tame it down. But they want to convey an image. Create a vibe. Again personally I have`nt seen the splash screen. But after the life I`ve lead past and prior and 10 years deep in the music business in Los Angeles nothing shocks me. Also I know all I have to do is tell my children leave the room for a minute and they listen. No big inconvenience. If only coaxing better loot were that easy! LOL

I live in Denmark, and like Sweden (and Holland) we have a quite 'free' culture. Personally I don't care and I know my kids can see worse elsewere - but I find it cheasy to find this in a game I play tbh. Yes, some rock is connected to exactly what you mention - but some isn't. I actually was very impressed with the new missions on RT, the figures playing along there are pretty well made, and the text is fun.

But not all ROCKchicks look like sluts - so mixing it up with some more 'normal' hot looking chicks (fx the auctioneers and the technicians, why do they have to look like the mobs anyway?) who's boobies are not about to fall out might only make it better and lift the planet to a higher level, is my personal belief.

When looking at the planets it's obvious they all have a different expression, also obvious each of them have different target groups - but it sertainly also (after my opinion) is obvious, where to find quality.

Since ROCKtropia is about ROCK and Music, it would be great if that had a higher priority. The sound on RT is horrible, some of the music is too... Dunno. There are different ways of doing things, I guess ...

I go to RT to have fun, because the planet is different. I could live without the whores - and if I shoot them it's because I find them damn annoying :P

    LordLongLicious Do you fear death?

Althought I seriously ponder about the useless paranoia about what is out there anyway (and kids shoud know about so they can avoid the negative aspects of it), I feel very unconfortable about hunting the vixens, because they are hot and well, you dont hit a woman on my culture.

And I am a rock'n'roller, been on Ramones shows and all that, except for the drug part as I am against it.

I understand his concept on putting the vixens as it is a place for rock'n'roll, I just find it odd to hunt them, as well, they are no monsters to me. :)

But serious, I have children too, and I going to explain to them what is right and wrong and what I believe they shoud avoid in life.

However, people dressing like this (and specially in rock'n'roll shows) is a reality and people shoud know that, those girls are pretty much independent and dont let men fool with them as their garments may suggest.

Who has been on the underground culture of the 70's and 80's will remember these types as they revert to Crumb, Tanino&Liberatore, Moebius, Max, Manara, Caza, Pazienza and some other comic book artists, the Metal Hurlant and Heavy Metal magazines, and it does bring part of this nostalgia back.

What I also find odd is the "dance fight" or whatever they call it, however, I agree, Rocktropia is not for kids: it is for teenagers who might like Rock'n'roll and the rockrollers over 30 like myself who grew up looking at this sort of images without growing perverted, as nobody ever grew sadistic only by watching Tom&Jerry and Woody Woodpecker (what was it with their constant transdressing?), mind you. :)

Rock'n'roll is a beautiful and very daring, creative culture, please dont go there if "images might offend" you (and yet turn on the TV to watch CSI or drool at Baywatch with porn queens like Pamela Anderson "acting"). :)

    Because it is an hipocrisy.

Well I think you should also remember that this world ain't targeted for the kids!

  14. I am old too and I agree with Nirfu. :)

    ..and Lykke...

Rocktropia is not for me, I have been there a few times, but the theme does not do it for me.

    Cheers :beerchug:

  15. As an older adult without kids, I get tired of having everything "carebeared" just because some kids might be around.
Rocktropia might not be to everyones tastes, so the ultimate choice is yours like television/movies etc. Dont watch it or go to Rocktropia if it bothers you or your wee ones.

Adults like to have adult fun and that may include politically incorrect portrayals and sexual content.
Maybe kill cute little monkeys on NI or Planet Micheal might have some warm and fuzzy things to hug........um second thought maybe keep your kids away from Planet Micheal....laughs.

    Totally agree!

Lykke I have`nt been there since it first opened. I too wish they would focus more in the music and in a more interactive way. Again a lot of potential if the waters of rights etc can be successfully navigated. I`d be there in a heartbeat if music was the focus. But for now I`ll explore Next Island as I`ve made it my new home as explained in my recent blog. I`m sure they`ll add to the mobs and characters in the future too.

And to LordLongLicious I don`t believe in hitting woman either. Definitely a no no. In a game though I can accept it. They are mutants of a sort after all right?

As for any splash screens or whatever I don`t bat an eyelash. They could have full on porn and it still would`nt bother me. But I`m pretty tolerant of what other people want to do and never begrudge them thier choices.

  17. Kids tend to do what you do, regardles of what you tell them to do. So if it's OK with daddy to kill almost naked hot vixens in a videogame they think it's OK for them too. I (and for sure not my wife and guess who she will blame!) would not like my 6, 8 and 10 year old guys playing a game with this kind of content.

I love the RT Zoombies, and it's fun doing the missions where a group of mobs count (there's several zombie types). I just stay out of vixen area but sometimes you have to pass them.

Hopefully we will see mor music content and a bigger divercity in the planets. NI with time travel showing the way(even though bugy) how to use the EU platform to build a unique place. ND talks about minigames etc in upcoming VU.
