oh come on, its a forum.

Almost everything on here requires people to sign up so they are able to reply.

pretty much any link could break that one if you look at it the right way.

only way out of that is if someone locks the thread

and what about peoples ep sigs on ep, or the advert about the advert service?

  2. It is still subject to interpretation whether a link serves "recruitment purposes only" - but ok, at least this points in an acceptable direction.

Just out of fairness: I vote for a similar set of rules here, that keeps EF members from posting links on EP that are solely intended to recruit members from here!

Even though I fully understand why you say this, this is and have never been the intention of EntropiaPlanets to set up restrictions about posting about or linking to other EU related forums / sites etc.

And as said earlier - any link could be twisted around and be used for recruting - no matter how you see it.

We're not afraid of our members signing up on other forums. Making a recruitment thread on the other hand is something we would not be fond of - then again, Shinobi made one and we left it as it was.

It's a matter about self-confidence I guess :) We're quite sure about our site and product and we do not see other sites as our competitors.

What other people choose we respect, but do not expect us to work the same way if it is against our beliefs of how to handle a community based forum best way to make sure the members get as much valuable info/tools etc. as possible ...

You might be right, but if that is true, linking to and mentioning EntropiaPlanets in threads would do no harm ...

Others can link to tool-sites, trackers of different kinds, products they offer, society sites and forums etc on EF .. any all of this could drag people from EF somewhere else ...

  6. I knew you'd say that... which sheds even a worse light on this all :
Both sides could've seen the matter as relaxed as you do...

I wonder why this was not possible...

It would have been possible, if the admins here had approached me in a professional, friendly manner from the start. Instead, they chose to engage in underhanded promotional methods, including a massive private message spam campaign. Most forum admins would have simply banned the member conducting such abuses. Instead, I decided to take a diplomatic approach and try to sort these issues out with the EP admins.

As I said earlier in this thread, the situation we have now exists because of the choices and actions of the EntropiaPlanets admins.

Such a rule would be quite pointless considering that upwards of 98% of the members here are already members of EntropiaForum. In any case, I doubt you will see any "EF members" (and certainly no members of the EF staff) conducting such promotional efforts here.

  8. A professional approach would've been to invite the EP admins to a live chat session PRIOR to uttering accusations - what you did was more like "disciplinary warning letter" and dodging the replies.

That is quite immature, you had your share in this.
I mentioned it several times now, but you, as the owner of the established forum, could've shown self-confidence and just let things happen - it's not exactly like someone forces you to intervene.

Pride comes before a fall - while my comment was meant to show how absurd this all is (simply by reversing the situation) this might be the case one day... If EF would be a place that fully satisfies the needs of the community there would be no need for alternatives.
And it is not like people haven't tried to tell you what's wrong...

  9. If you had been around when EF first popped up you would realize the exact same methods you call abuse was the method used to start up EF.

  10. I thought i'd share 711s interpretation of "abuse for recruiting purposes", just received this PM on EF:

I try to find the pic that caused this, the small one with the globe in hands...

    /Edit:

Found the pic, it's just 2xwidth and 2xheight...

I strongly advise everyone to put only pics in your EF sig that have a certain purpose (other than recruiting only)
