Thanks E-Team for providing this scoop. Definitely very interesting indeed. You guys are really good at doing your DD. Congratulations to David Simmonds on his ascend to the throne. We look forward to working closely with you.
Yep, looks like 2 long-term MA companions on the top positions who will pull in the same direction. Let's hope it will be the right direction. ;)
http://www.mindark.com/investor-relations/corporate-governance/ Got a mail from David Simmonds saying the announcement should be up on mindark.com soon - didnt see it because i got confused by the date :) but here it is! Congratulation again from EP David, looking forward to what future brings :)
Anyone kind enough to actually tell me what is this screenshot? Is it balance of income or what ? I can see like minus and red number in past 2 years. Can someone enlighten me please ?
Hi Gandalf, It's the main figures from the last 3 years financial report. And yes, red numbers are 'minus'...
2010 Number of employees 78 Net sales (TKR) 50 796 Res. e. financial (TKR) -17 331 Net income (TKR) -14 351 Total assets (TKR) 94 948 Profit margin -31.66% Quick ratio 115.46% Equity ratio 51.68%
...and it also shows David as CEO already (at the top), that was the first sign of the change. Gratz to the EP team for once again giving us news that was not supposed to be public yet.
OK I'll give it a go. Net sales gone down because of the new planets. Before MA got all the income and now they need to share with the other PP's and with not to many extra players those figures are bound to go down. Income going down as well, partially because of the drop in sales, but I guess they have invested a lot to last year, getting the new planets up and running. If some how they can manage to keep the players base growing they should be OK for this year maybe, and for next year.
Ok i can dig this. No offense to Jan but David is a better speaker and communicator. While i think Jan has still has some great vision to making game play fun. Just again and again MA you need to work on the balance and over complication of Entropia. Make the game not about getting a hof or global but about discovery and adventure. Change loot so that you hut to get certain materials not just trying to win like your playing a slot machine. Remember when you where happy that you got a bunch of molisk teeth even if you lost 20%.
Not sure why everyone thinks this is so great for EU. Sure David is a good guy, most of the Mindark guys seemed like decent guys really. Frankly I'm pretty sure David had plenty to say in the development of EU over the years, so I don't really see any change in direction with this move. I see guys changing chairs, but basically the same guys running the show. To Rex: When David chooses to speak, sure he's a good speaker, but what have we heard from him for the last couple of years? I don't expect it to change really. SSDD. But at least we can all move on now from the "CEO" drama. :p
Whether it's great or not has to be proven. But I think this should be the better solution. Looks like Andinsson has been put in place by large scale investors with only one interest: Making money asap. He was supposed to get the figures straight and get the IPO done by next year so those investors could get rid off their shares more easily. The same investors also booted Timkrans. So that didn't look like a good setup. David has been in the company for many years and was responsible for business development respectively working with the Planet Partners. He has surely much more experience with MA's business and the industry than Andinsson has. And quite likely he's not primarily working on giving investors the opportunity to cash out asap. He's rather sharing Jan's vision and working on ensuring a sustainable success of the project. Looks like the better setup to go with.
Hehe, well the goal no matter who's in charge is making money, from MA's perspective, lets not pretend it's not. ;) Question is would some new blood be more apt to give the players what they want and make even more money through attracting players? We already know how these guys choose to make it. Instead of trying to appeal to gamers of all stripe, and attract large numbers to make some money from many, they choose the "if you build it, they will come" mentality, and try to make it from a small amount of players. Personally I would have prefered to see Jan as chair, and new blood as CEO.... Someone that was around from the start to make sure it stays true to the idea, but someone new, with new ideas to stear the helm. It could have been a win, win imo. No offence intended to David...but it just seems like same old, same old, to me.
Yep, of course you are right. But there still might be a difference between investors who are dealing with EU once a year at the AGM and just care for a quick ROI and the person who is actually developing his vision for 16+ years already and might not look for quick profit and forget but for a sustainable income. There's even some evidence out there: Which means Jan's proposal would just have saved us 175.000 deposited PED. (Not that I couldn't puke all over when I hear that some guy receives 6000 USD for going to a meeting once a year...). I'm not a Jan & David fanboy, but I'm conviced it's the better solution compared to what began looming some weeks ago. Best solution would still be making me the boss. ;)
