When MindArk was given a swedish bankinglicense March 2009 it came with 1 basic counterdemand. MindBank is supposed to have 56million SEK in funds within 1 year of issueing the license or they may lose the license. Do you think MindArk will be able to convince Bridge and others to front the cash or will they simply take it from us by "improving" loot? Another possibility, which is kind of likely is that they get a temporary increase of time to get the funds but I would assume the process of that will delay the project several months. I know myself whenever I did paperwork in sweden the time to get anything done is weeks/months for even the smallest things. Me personally,I am abit skeptic to the whole bank idea. If it speeds up withdrawals and lowers depositfee then I welcome it but I do not think it will launch during 2010 due to lack of funding
Well it's only around 5 million pounds sterling so not that much really, surprisingly small amount for a bank imo. I've not looked at the MA financials last year or so though, but if deposits are down the amount that i fear they will be; maybe this explains poor loot reports from people ingame i know. ;)
we know zero about what the purpose and role of the bank will be and how tightly coupled it will be to the EU world, so it isimpossible to say what will happen. they might make every ped card automatically a Mindbank account, which would easily cover the requirement. (and where does this requirement come from btw?)
There is not enough cash on pedcards to get 56million SEK from it. Alot of the peds deposited are tied up in high markup gear. It would also be a very foul way to get customers to the bank if they forced people to open a bankaccount to keep on playing the game. Making it a bankaccount would also screw over pretty much every player in terms of fee's for transfers to other accounts because I dont think MindBank will pay the international wiringfees out of pocket. Also gotta remember taxation and IRS, all banks have to report every account to the IRS for the yearly audit and for instance resellers or people who profit constantly will be taxed even though they were gonna keep all money within the game. Only thing I want from MindBank would be a way to deposit instantly without getting skimmed on 3,5%. I never get extra fee's anywhere else. If MindBank cant provide that then to me it is as useful as a blind tattoo artist
possibly, i cant say i thought it that far ahead. there are issues with pedcard being and account. but if they need to raise that much for normal deposits, then i dont think its going to happen. you can already avoid the credit card charge by doing a bank to bank trnasfer hand paying your banks fee instead. this isnt going to change. be carefull with getting your tattoos...
I dont think Bridge group will invest to save Mindbank, it wouldnt be in their immediate interest at the moment. Dont trust Bridge group at all, they are a bit shady to say the least. it starts more and more to look like the old pyramid scam they was accuesd of runing in 05 is starting over again. Good thing some of us pulled out when we had a chance. but HEY we will get more planets..that will surely save us.. LOL
I don't think GC holders will be forced to get bank accounts, but I'm sure we'll be "highly encouraged".
Bridge calls mindark the "Worlds biggest gamedeveloper that is also a bank"...its the only one also! Bridge is pretty bullshit and I am glad they made a big loss on companies as for instance GPS Buddy despite Bridgeleaders almost promising a 20-40% increase of value first year
i dont know what country you are in or the situation in Swden, but in the UK, this isnt at all true. if they require it as a crinimal investigation, the authorities can get access to my bank account details. otherwise i can have funds go to and from without any monitoring. i'd have thought it was the same in Sweden. as for much of the rest of the debate, i wonder if theres too much reading into what the bank licence means. they dont have to operate traditional current, deposit or savings accounts, issue bonds, offer loans and overdrafts etc. it might be that simple by having a licence it opens them up to various wholesale or backend banking systems, for example allowing them to issue ATM themselves. as i say, we know sweet fa about what it really means untill they sell us the service.
