So I'm happily playing AoC and over in a field I see a mob run up to and attack another one - they're fighting! I run over and watch for a bit and notice they are Locked with each other as if they were fighting a player (Mobs lock to the first attacker in AoC - you can kill them but you don't get any "drop" for it as far as I know). Very cool and realistic feature. I've also noticed predator mobs killing small prey mobs occasionally. Again, adds to the ingame experience. So I wonder again as I've done at times through my many years in EU -- Why the hell isn't mob fighting implemented in EU anymore? Just lock the two to each other and nobody can KS away from the other fighting mob and get any loot. No muss no fuss. I know EU has way way more serious problems to deal with these days but jeeez, there wouldn't BE as many problems if they just cared enough to implement stuff like that. A little love goes a long way IMO. /rant
Yeah it would add more realism to the experience. Mob on mob attacks was also a feature of Saga of Ryzom (older mmorpg) which was kind of neat. And like you said, there are many more issues MA needs to address before they think of adding something else they could screw up.
Yeah i agree it would add a nice touch looking into the future ofc, the most important thing atm is to get the rest of the old features back online.
i think 'could' is a rather generous term, i think 'would' fits it slighty better :D indeed id like to see animals fighting and such would be pretty interesting feature.
I would love to see a horde of nice little snables grassing and suddenly, out of the blue, a trox comes running and slaughter a snable to feast on ... well, it happens in nature and this is not a game, right?
that is a cool idea, mob on mob attacks. I know i used to get surrounded by a ton of atrox, would be cool to see them killing themselves off. would be even better with cool graphics Rad
In WOW, you'd often see a fox killing a rabbit. Could be done similarly for other mobs in EU. Like mentioned before, trox killing exa. What would be even more awesome is really coding some form of personality for mobs. Exas are grazers, and I imagine them to be like cows. Cows do not fight among one another (What could they possibly fight about? "HEY NOW! I was lying there!" or "Tune in tomorrow, for round 7 of the Battle of the Bovines, where Betsy challenges Topsy over whose milk is creamier!"), but I could imagine a Trox Old Alpha rip a Trox Young a new one for attempting to chew a piece of his kill. It could be used by players in smart ways as well, that way.
Well, yea, it used to be such a feature in EU. I remember hunting Longus and they'd fight with Sabakuma's whenever they were in close proximity to eachother. Basically when that happened, what I did (and I bet a lot of other people did) was wait until the saba had gotten the longu's HP down, and then kill it. Saved a few shots. I guess thats why it was taken away.
