Maybe time for a new one? I posted this on the Cyrene forum first and Lykke suggested posting here where the magazine originated. Also asking magazine, article or poster? I say go for the hat trick (that's all 3 for the laymen out there, hehe)
So AlricBezel, anything you would be able to contribute to this magazine? I know a lot of people would be very happy with a new magazine, but it is A LOT of work to do something that is even remotely close to the quality of the last magazines and to be honest, there is just so much we can do with the people we have. Let this then be a call to all the people out there that have some great ideas for the magazine or have skills in graphics, writing or anything related to making a magazine to contact one of the staff members and discuss.
Would love to have more people involved with the next magazine, and would be cool to start working on it soon. This being the 10th year for Entropia there is a lot of cool content that could be researched and included with a few writers involved.
I would love to say that I have a talent for writing articles and could contribute to another magazine, but I really have to say that I couldn't see how I could be of much use. During the time of this last magazine I wasn't playing EU, I would check in on the forums and see if any improvements had been made, new planets came out, etc. (2011 was one of the years of my "pissed off about consistent terrible bad loot and almost left EU for good" break), hehe. But I loved the magazine and for the whole year used the desktop calender with the concept art of Cyrene, even kept the calendar out and flipped it around to use it for a desktop pic that could be changed whenever I wanted once the year of calendar itself was gone. I really liked the magazine very much because even though I wasn't playing EU I still liked reading about what was to come and that was sort of inspiring. I understand that putting together a magazine is a lot of work and I am sure that there would be some people out there that are good writers willing to contribute.
Add a monthly review of what people are feeling in game. Like this: This month January 5 2019 Question: Now that taming is back, what are your thoughts. FOR: Nor Alien Euqcab: I believe that the newly returned system was well worth the wait. Can't wait to see what they do for space. FOR: Alric Alric Bezel: The new taming system is very well done and is a welcome sight. Add a few comments for the for category. AGAINST: Narfi Hungry Willem: The new taming system took too long and didn't meet my expectations. Lack of design and fluidity are a negative. AGAINST: Razer: The system is just like it was in VU 9, uninspiring and lacks content. Add a few more for the against category.
Love the optimism :P It's a great idea though, and similar to ideas I have wanted to do in the past, haven't had as much time as I would like lately but this is something I would like to do/see as well. thanks, narfi
I was part of the original team that worked on all 4 issues of the Entropia Times magazine, and I loved every minute of it, including editing (proofing content and making notations of what needed an edit, and Lykke made the actual changes), but ... It's incredibly time-consuming and production heavy, which is why we published once per quarter for a year, from Sep 2010 to June 2011. It was the most demanding of projects I've worked on, but it was because we wanted to produce a quality product for the community. There's been talk of doing an EU TENTH EDITION anniversary issue, but time has been limited for all of us, and we could use a bit more help. I've already committed to being a part of it, including the editing once again, but organizing content takes a bit of time, and so does arriving at a clear direction with exactly what we want to present as the 10th anniversary issue, so ideas from the community would be helpful as well.. It's no secret that writing is my greatest passion, but my time recently has been somewhat limited, although I have more flexibility now, so perhaps can find the motivation and inspiration to do something with it. Even helping to gather information might be something that would be useful to the team, but just what would need to be determined first. I'm really happy to be back on the EP Team, and I know from past, and especially present experience that the guys are really busy behind the scenes with major projects, not only for the forum, but the EP Wiki and other things that will benefit the community as a whole. Perhaps we can go back to the drawing board and revive our chat about pulling this issue together before the end of the year. I think it would be a nice Christmas gift for everyone, although you would have to pay for a hard copy if you wanted one, and only if that was a decision the team would make to do again. Maybe shoot for a late December 2013 issue so that anything else that happens this year that we feel is important enough to get into the magazine, we'll have time for. I'm good in the 11th hour. I don't think most realize just how much is involved in taking on a project like this, except for those who have already worked on this type of project, but I would love to continue producing a quarterly issue. It would just take perhaps a few more people in order to accomplish this. So much has happened in the past 10 years, and I've been in EU for just about 8-1/2 of them, and the rest of the team here at EP also have longevity in our universe, but you don't have to have years in EU to be able to help if you have graphics or writing skills that you would like to contribute and be a part of our continuing history documenting our experiences. Let any EP Staff Member know if you have interest. These guys are hard working, with an exciting agenda, and I'm glad to be back with them. PS ... I like your idea Alien, and nice diversity in presentation, including who you chose to make which comments ... too interesting.
Lol yeah when I put some thought into something I can write and speak elegantly and make it look like I'm reading people's minds. It's the Alien part. Otherwise I make wise cracks about..... well everything. I would be willing to do this part.
I ordered three of the first four editions so it would be good to see it revived again. I like writing about EU, etc, but sometimes I get writers block, aka lazyitus ;)
I've got them all and I would love to see it come back again, but i also understand what the workload for this must be like. I'd love to write an article of 2 as well, but with my work schedule I know i couldn't commit to regularity even if I wanted to...
It's always a treat to have "guest" contributors without them having to be a part of the production team, so perhaps this could still happen, who knows.
