  10. omg, I'm so sorry that you are wanting to move to Pittsburgh.

I now live in Chicago and have lived in many places in the US.. I grew up in a little town called Edinboro north of Pittsburgh. My father was a professor at the university there.

As far as western Pennsylvania goes, I hate it with such a passion that it makes me crazy. Just thinking about that area of the country makes me sicker than I already am (I have crohn's disease).

One thing was said to me about that area before when I mentioned change and that I like it and can't stand stagnation.

Here was the reply; lol, this area will be exactly the same 50 years from now as it is today.

Anyway if same old same old, with a bunch of people with a piss poor mentality is good for you then you'll love it there and I hope the best for you.

    Chicago is Chicago!!!!!

only one place like Chicago and that's Chicago :D

Alric, I am not moving to Pittsburgh, I am a headhunter I am trying to get people to take the job I am working on and they need to move to Pittsburgh not me. I will happily stay here in Southern Ohio.

New Zealands Maori name (native) is Aotearoa, which means "land of the long white cloud" which is pretty visible why in that last photo :)

My favorite thing to do here in Gjøvik is to sit inside (where it is warm) and play video games.

  14. Seeing a lack of romanian photos here decided to fix the problem. starting with bucharest, good parts and the not so good parts and an image of parlament.

the old center sadly seems to lack attention and maintenance though it's still one of the favourite spots for many people- can't seem to find a good image of it though- just a side alley showing the lack of care

and the good parts of the country (just a tiny fragment):

Heard a thing I find pretty true about Romania: "beautifull country, pity it's inhabited" . Too many people just don't care about it

  15. Hey I thought I'd add something here. I just saw this.

I actually live in Colorado Springs, CO.

I'd put up a picture of my house but can't find a good one. :) Still like many of you and where you all live, it is a pretty beautiful place. I feel kinda spoiled sometimes being I can look out the back of my office window at Pikes Peak. :)

    Thanks peeps :)

    Keep them coming

  17. Indeed there are a lot of really nice pictures of the places that everyone is from. It is neat because it makes the community even more "real" when you can better visualize someone with where they are from. :)

  18. I live in West Oakland, California

West Oakland in the 1930's was known for its vibrant black Jazz community, Tibetan living communes (I have an old Tibetan temple in my back yard), and Portuguese immigrants. My next door neighbor had the honor of playing in bands with jazz greats like Otis Redding and BB King. All of these people were attracted to West Oakland due to its close proximity to San Francisco, and due to its railroad industry. As the largest sea port in the USA next to Baltimore and New York during this period it was (and in many ways still is) the economic heart of the San Francisco Bay Area.

The 1950's brought with it decline to the area, as the giant Cypress freeway was built, isolating West Oakland from the rest of the city physically. The Victorian era houses in the neighborhood went into decline, and have stayed that way until the last 5 years or so. A revival has taken place due to economic pressures (high gas prices forcing people to move out of the suburbs and back into the cities), and due to the collapse and subsequent relocation of the Cypress Freeway (pictured above) in a large earthquake.

From 1980 until about 2008 a large, thriving punk rock scene made West Oakland and the surrounding communities its home, as punk rockers crowded into abandoned warehouses and hosted many illegal and barely legal shows. Bands like Fang, Green Day, Operation Ivy, NOFX, AFI, High on Fire and others came out of (and still play in this scene. Im pictured above at one of the shows Ive attended since moving here in 2003). The greater area has also spawned bands like Creedence Clearwater Revival and Metallica. We play host as the 2nd city in the international B.O.B Fest, a 5 day gathering of punk rock bands and hangers on that happens every 2 years in the cities of Bremen Germany, Oakland California, and Bath England. Our community is full of vocal, corageous, and aware individuals from all political, social, and national backgrounds. My particular band has me (a singer-guitarist with New Zealand citizenship), my bass player Jakob (a 61 year old Dutch pervert), and Ocean (a permafried drummer local to the area).

Green Day playing at a local club:

I consider the community a great place to live and work for someone between the ages of 18 and 40, although due to the gangs and drugs its probably not the best place to raise a family.
