Dear Society Leader Sometimes it can be difficult to recruit the right people for the society! And more so, sometimes it is difficult to regret it afterwards! You can now help and support newbies and the community by adopting a newbie for a 3-4 weeks period. The concept works like this; We gather together newbies, who are interested in being adopted by a society, on a list available on www.entropiaplanets.com. All newbies will recieve a contract where they have to agree to sertain 'rules' of conduct. You decide further on the newbies reqruitment, training etc. from the day the newbie joins your society. It is of course in both parts interest, that you care about the newbie you adopt and will make sure the newbie has a valuable time in your society. Maybe you even wish to recruit the newbie afterwards, but if not, you know the agreement is settled for a trial period of 3-4 weeks. If you are interested in adopting a newbie, please pm me directly on www.entropiaplanets.com and tell me, which newbie you wish to adopt. All information can be found either in the special Adopt a Newbie section or in the EntropiaPlanets Yellow Pages under *Adopt a Newbie Foundation*. In here you can find the services for both the Newbies and for the societies, which wish to adopt a newbie. The Adopt a Newbie Fund The *Adopt a Newbie* Foundation has already been supported by people from the community - not only by providing tools, guides etc. - but also by providing tt armor and weapons etc. The Fund list can be seen HERE. Pm me for further information or if you wish to donate to the fund. The items in the fund will be handed out to the newbies as a newbie kit a week after they join a society through the *Adopt a Newbie* Foundation. We hope a lot of Societies will see this as a new exciting way to recruit new people and also see this as a great opportunity to be doing a difference when it comes to integrate newbies and keep them in game. The Newbie List This service is very new, and we cannot expect the list to be filled right away. But if you're interested the start will be to sign up the Societies and we will contact you as soon as there are newbies available. If you meet newbies in game but do not have the possibility of recruiting them into your own society, please tell them about this new Foundation and make them sign up on the *Newbies to adopt list* (by pm'ing me on www.entropiaplanets.com). Since this Foundation is still new and under development - ideas are highly appriciated and welcome, as people, who would like to be a part of this project too also are very much welcome. Thanks :) Lykke
Recruiting players that will stick around is always a difficult task. I started my society less than a year ago and have over 50% retention of new recruits so far. I think this has been because of two things, my selection process and firm/gentle hand in instructing. I picked up most of my recruits by answering what I thought were well thought out questions by new players ingame. If it seemed the new player had a good head and was willing to do the research and have realistic expectations. Ive also recruited a few off the forums since I feel that anyone who registers on a forum and reads to do the research before starting the game has a much better chance of lasting for the long haul. I believe that a combination of the support your site and a membership with a helpful society with the new players willingness to do the research to find and sign up for this program will make for some good new players. I have mixed feelings about the free kits, but think they are a good initiative as well. I dont do many tp runs with my recruits anymore. I think they learn more by getting most of them for themselves and doing making the connections to join larger group runs for the others. What I do for them though is provide lots of advice and organized opalo/cb5 team hunts. My society website is http://lostrenegades.net and I would be willing for my soc to be involved in this program with a max of 1 or 2 at a time. Good luck with the program, narfi
Hey Narfi :) Your concept really sounds like the sub soc of Church of Lootius, School of Lootius, which we invented around 3 years back, but recently had to put down again. Having newbies in your society does require some very helpful people, who can teach them about the game - and it is great to see that this concept works for some societies - however, it didn't work for SoL. Unfortunately the amount of newbies sometimes was bigger than the amount of people, who could advice them and help them out, and unfortunately it was like a train station at times, people in and people out. I have a feeling, that with this people get a secure feeling of belonging to something safe - and that might give them a stronger start in game. 1-2 newbies at a time, sounds like a really nice deal :) Ty. Now we just need some newbies on the list If you meet any who might be interested, please point them to this section or to the Yellow Pages in the top bar. Ty & Good luck Lykke
2 newbies found their way into the safety nest of societies. More newbies might need a home for 4 weeks. Are you interested in adopting a newbie and add some fresh blood into your society? Send me a pm and ANF will make it happen :) Thank you for your support and interest in the Adopt a Newbie Foundation. YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Newbie = Sign up for the *Adopt a Newbie* list Hi im KungPow, from Paradox, soc leader We think our soc is a great way for new players to start, i've have a few succesfull ppl who made it without depo. We also have a few ppl that depo, including myself. I would like to have a variety of people on the soc so no requirements. We dont adopt if we accept you, you are more then welcome to stay. This is why i won't participate with this nice initiative. I would like to take the opportunity to let ppl know we are recruiting. We don't take the hierarchy of a soc very serious, evrybothy is responsible to make something of it, disregarding rank. A soc is basicly just a extra chat channel if you look at it a certain way. I've seen other RPG and MMO with alot better structures and a system that allows people to unite or participate with several groups. Also functions for ppl that can't be booted (ex. councillor) making it a more shared responsability. I find the soc leader in EU has too much power, making it hard to unite as it is all based on trust. People with no gaming experiance are sometimes lost. What brings them together and make them comited to function as a collecive unit is up to them. As mentioned before and on other forums alot of activitys are better in group and i have to agree the lack to communicate is the biggest flaw ppl make in the game. our rules are simple, NO RULES (isn't that handy) If you are under 16 you are not allowed in the soc due to the NO RULES People on the soc are responsible for themselves and me the soc leader will not pretend to be some kind of chat mod. You need to be over 16 because i won't restrict myself or other members talking trash. we like to, hunt, mine, resell, auction resell, swunt, share trade info, build up a social trade net and more I believe anyone can contribute to the soc in their own way, you dont need to have a HI IQ or be rich, just a nice personality with social skill can contribute much. So if you are interested apply for Paradox, we are a new soc building up and i would like to max it out to 200 people, maybe then we can kick some ass in pvp3, who knows :) KungPow
Hey KungPow :) Thank you for your interest in the Adopt a Newbie Foundation! Having a possibility of recruiting the newbies after the adoption time is really really great, and I'm sure a lot would not mind that. The program however does give you the possibility to make sure, that people fit together and that the soc has a good atmosphere. But it also makes sure, that a newbie who might want to find another soc after the adoption period can do so without having to feel guilt or bad about it :) Anway, I took my liberty of removing your post into the society concept and away from the newbie applications, not to mix them up. I created a list of the newbies so far - it can be seen here: http://www.entropiaplanets.com/forums/showthread.php?p=7185#post7185 If you wish to adopt any, please pm me with whom and how many ;) Thank you :) Lykke
This looks like a great initiative. Will talk to the soc and see if they want to get involved :) Personally I would be happy to "adopt" new players who wish to learn the ways of Amethera mining :)
Sounds great Kosh :) Ty. We will soon come out with a new concept for adopting newbies as single players aswell! AND soon the ANF crew (which is only me atm :D) will even expand! So stay tuned! Lykke
well CaMo Flames &Industries would like to join this concept! as Ive been trainin newbies all along the way in Calypso either; eudoria or amathera or cnd we will go there and, help to get tps, knowledge etc. etc! we are hunters, crafters, miners, traders, all in for CaMo Flames & Industries SirMixaLot
i love the post :) made me smile :D anyway, thank you for supporting the project. Please, have a look at the available newbies on the list in the newbie thread and pm me with the names on those you are interested in adopting :) thanks again Lykke
Hi Lykke This is a really great idea, and i do hope it works. My Society -TAO- does take newbies onboard, on a very similar basis already. But i do like the idea of being able to choose our newbies from your lists. The information supplied looks very useful. Btw, I have a load of Goblin shins from participating in a Daiki-killing event. Kept them in case you can use them? (feel free to trade em for more useful stuff) Anything you're particularly after for your kits? (I'll ask around in Soc) jay :)
Hi jaywalker. First of all, thanks for the interest! Willing societies are what I've been trying to chase up lately, instead of over-filling the Newbie List. Good to see more socs are coming across ANF by chance, that says something! I'll jump in here as I'm the Fund organiser. For info on the Fund you can see My Thread. More specifically: An example of typical Kits: Pixie Harness Pixie Arm Guards Pixie Foot Guards Pixie Shin Guards Isis CB5 (L) OR Emik S30 (L) Omegaton Fast Aid FAP-5 But at the moment, anything goes! You may also want to head over to my Soc List thread to be entered into the table, which is also just finding its feet. Would it be possible to set an unofficial-ish meeting up in-world with you? Again, thank you for registering your interest with us! Peace, Dalas.
Hi I registered on this site specifically to support this project, and offer the support of my society Laudanum to the cause. Who are we: We are a group of relatively new players, and some not-so-new ones, who have banded together over the last few months with the goals of helping other new players out not just with game mechanics, but with dispelling many of the myths, legends, and outright harmful outlooks within the Entropia Universe. We are non monetarily focused, our goals and events instead tend to lead themselves more toward the esoteric aspects... in short we are socially oriented and aware. What do we do for new players? We host weekly society events, and do individual teleport runs as the group needs it. We provide care packages as the player advances instages, with incentives to advance. Currently we have a loose contest, where the first 5 new players to reach 1000 sweat gathering recieve $30 US dollars in equipment. We host trivia and knowledge related contests inside of our society apartment at Omegaton West Habitat Beta Complex. We host member blogs so that people can see each members progress, successes and failures. We have a voice chat server where members can hang out and talk about the game. I feel we provide a unique perspective to our participants, showing them that Entropia Universe is about the platform, not about the spreadsheets. To that end we have teamed up with a Television Show and YouTube broadcast, Music Production and Promotion group, and other real life entities who's events we will be hosting within Entropia Universe as a way to raise awareness of these particular projects. Are we an old society? No. I started playing in January and did not found the society until April. Many other members started playing only in March or April. We number just over 40 people now, many of whom are getting their legs about them. One of our philosophies though is that players who learn together play together. Anyone who wishes to learn more about us and where we are headed can check out our Society website www.laudadanumonline.com. The site is a work in progress, and is updated almost daily with new information and content.
Wow Magyar, that is awesome! We already met at Swamp and had some fun :D I would appreciate it if you headed over to my Society List and posted just the basics required to make a table entry. I will link to this post in the table there. Thanks for the interest, we are looking for more socs and it's nice to have such a new one in the ranks of ANF.
add Integrity ver. 2.0 to the list , im rebuilding my own soc again , hopefully this program weeds out the wheat from the chaffe . some hate me , some love me , but , i do know alot about the game and dont mind helping peeps if they are honest.
