Inspired by nexus7 I raise a thread that I have in mind some time.
Where did your avatar name come from?
    Why you choose it?
Of course I know this could be personal so I did not expect answers from everyone. But could be nice to hear and also funny perhaps.
Let's see if someone has a explanation like Itto :D

    So I start,

my avatar name is Slarty Slartybartfass bummel (or is it Slartybartfass Slarty bummel:confused:)

As perhaps some of you know Slartybartfass came from the famous hitchikers guide to the galaxy. Funny thing this is the german writing, I know in the original english version it is spelled Slartybartfast. Slarty is the shortcut used once or twice by Ford Prefect, bummel is nothing special and I like it to be erased but I think I have to live with that.
So why I choose this name? Since starting reading the Hitchhiker I was attracted by this character, more than by Arthur or Ford or Zaphod.
Slartybartfass (I stick to the german spelling...) is a very wise, but somehow very confusing old man with long white hair. A man how knows almost anything about the life, universe and all the rest. A dignified man, nothing can birng him to loose countenance, but very small things.
So that's me8) (ok, I lost my long hair and only few white stripes in it...)

Red - because of my hair... and then had to think of some other name... was supposed to be Red Sonja after the film... but Phunk spelt it wrong :skillet:

slartybartfass - many thanks for that. No idea why I would inspire anybody, but thanks again. I'll never forget Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, one of the funniest films I ever saw. All those episodes just for the answer 42:rolleyes:.

Anyway, part of my in-game name (which I revealed recently in my blog) is PlayerOfGames, which I chose because of a sci-fi novel in the late 70's called The Player Of Games.
I can't remember all of it, but the main theme is that the leading character; 'The Player Of Games', plays all manner of games inside a virtual, computer generated environment against other players - anything from simple naughts-and-crosses, to deadly shoot-to-kill elimination games using high-tech weapons. Winning a game would result in the winner gaining valluable products or large sums of money, that could be taken out of this virtual environment, if the winning player wished to do so.

So, when I first heard of Entropia via a certain television news channel mentioning the now famous purchase of CND for $100,000, it immediately reminded me of this character in this novel.

There was a cartoon program called "The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show". There was a character called Dudley Do-right. So when I had to come up with a name suddenly to play PE with for some reason this name popped into my head. So Sandra Doright is the female counterpart of Dudley. And as for Bunny well my first name is Bonnie and I was born on Easter so there is definitely a connection there LOL.

I like the food hamburgers (hamburger, cheeseburger, baconburger, all included as burgers),

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamburger

    Hamburger.jpg

and then several years ago I saw a cheeky, funny video clip for the ZZ Top song Burgerman. I liked the song, and laughed at the video clip, and so I began using the name Burgerman for my online character in games, chats, etc.

"Once you try my burger baby,
you'll grow a new thyroid gland." :hehe:

When I joined PE and required two extra names, I thought of Jelly Belly to keep the food connection in the name, as Jelly Belly is a brand of tasty Jelly Bean lollies/sweets/candies. Also, a round jelly belly is what you develop if you eat too many hamburgers. :hehe:

And so I arrived on Calypso as colonist Jelly Burgerman Belly.

The Kets people are the Siberian people who speak the Ket language. They are believed to be the descendants of an ancient nomadic group of people who lived in central Siberia. But all of that is pure coinicidence.

You see, I needed an avatar name when I joined EU and on my desk are several pads of paper that I use as scratch pads. They are from a company called "Amstek Metal" with several locations throughout the US. I don't know anything more about the company than what is printed on the pads as I have never worked there, or even heard of them prior to seeing their name on the pads. I don't even recall where I got the pads from.

Anyway, I chose Amstek as the first part then spelled it backwards, Ketsma, for the second part and decided to shorten it to Kets as nicknames are usually easier to remember if they are short. Also a shorter nickname would make it so I could type it more easliy as I usually employ the type three letters and backspace twice method of keyboard practice.

Did you really expect anything more from me? :cheerful:

I found out the stuff about the Kets people later by looking up the word Kets in wikipedia.org.

There's no mystery behind my name, "Erach Vortur". I googled for a random name generator and found a good site. Then I kept generating names until I found two that seemed to go together nicely, and voila. Erach Vortur was born.

    Erach.

It's a little known fact that back in my dim and dark past, I was a Drum & Bass DJ, resident at a local event in Wolverhampton, where I used to live.
At that I used to go by the name Phunk, Phunky, Phunksta etc. as the mood took me, or as the guys who printed the flyers could be bothered to write it.
Before even that I had been Phunkygeeza and Phunk on various chatsites etc. so for some reason over time the name stuck.

IRL my nickname is Mozzie, which is completely unrelated

So, like most people when faced with having to pick 3 names, not knowing they would always appear together (or was that just something that was nerfed in a recent VU ;) ) I tried to start from the nickname Phunksta, and make up a first and last name that would go with it.

Taking Phunk from the start, and then starting with Sta for the end, I came up with Phunk Stardredger (having read some sci-fi novel where guys were mining stellar corona).

Thus Phunk Phunksta Stardredger began life on Calypso! (Still looking for the bus home)

Kets posted at 1:50 pm and talker bot replied in advance at 1:43 pm...
I'm sure if we look deeper in all the circuits we will find the logo of the Sirius Cybernetic Corporation.
And we have to rename Talkerbot to Talker-O-Bot:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Seems to me that improbability drive has something to do with this.
