Gold Card reader problems

    Do you have to switch-on the gold card reader before you insert the card, or do you just insert the card?
    I just received the card and the reader the other day and then activated the card with the instructions given by going to entropiauniverse.com, then I logged in as usual, and then I inserted the card into the reader when asked for the security code, but nothing happened! Nothing shows on the reader's screen, so either the battery is dead, or one wasn't put in it - lol.
    I have logged a support case with MA, and have asked them to unregister the card, because I have no way of knowing whether a replacement reader also wouldn't have a dead battery, or would not work - and I have waited for over a month for the card to arrive... :confused:

    Erm - I solved the problem. The illustration on the front cover of the instruction booklet shows the card going into the reader at an angle, and well, I took this literally ;) I discovered that you have to insert the card dead-on so that the chip is completely covered...

    Thought mine was broken the other night, I put the card in and it read 888888, classic symptom of a failure but it turned out it was the code. :)

    My GC is worn out now, the Chip is really worn on the Card and most time i put the Card in it reads Error :(


    I`ve not done anything about it tho, i`m really too lazy to worry about it, but when it goes wrong alltogether i`ll be screaming :D

    There is a system my bank uses called "Auðkenni" it´s just a number generator that is linked with bank system and your name. I just push the button and out comes a 10 digit number. And it´s very cheap! So what I am baffled about it why don´t MA just issue us that kind of protection instead of cards and readers?

    I think I have changed my gold card 2 times now and that just sucks! Oh and the reader once! I always put it into a silk pocket type of thingy so that it won´t be damaged haha

    "Gold Cards Replacement Policy
    11 Apr 2007

    There seem to be some misunderstandings regarding our policies for replacing broken Gold Cards and/or Readers. Therefore we would like to clarify the matter:

    If your Gold Card fails to work, please return the broken item to MindArk PE AB. After confirming that the item is broken (and that this is not due to bad treatment), we will replace the item for you free of charge.

    If your Reader fails to generate any codes from the Gold Card, we can replace one Reader/quarter free of charge. When you receive the new Reader, please return the broken Reader to MindArk PE AB. This will enable us to check for possible errors and give feedback to the manufacturer of these items.

    MindArk do not automatically replace Gold Cards and/or Readers once per year. We only replace them in the case of them being broken according to the conditions stated above."

    We found after 2 years they quit working. BUT you really do need it in todays game so I recommend you get another one.

    Thanks to all... I have since inserted the card dead-on into the reader about four times already and logged in without any problems, so it seems to work so far. It's good to know though, that they conk-out after about two years and not two months:rolleyes:.
    I suppose you have to wait for another month or more for a replacement to arrive, and unregister the old/previous one in the meantime, otherwise you couldn't login...

    I doubt you would have to wait two months, my first one turned up in about 3 days :) Though there may be more delays due to the free offer.

    I knew it - if it's for free there's always a catch! My gc took over a month to arrive... Three days is good though. I wonder if MA are openning up offices all over the world now ;)
