So what do you all think will be a part of this first VU of 2011? What will it have in store for us Next Islanders? In the back of my mind I am wishing for a few things. We will just have to wait and see if they come true or not... Post what you think and or if posting after the VU post what you think of the new things to NI if there are any.
Well the full launch of Next Island was supposed to come in the third week of Jan so that is what I hope happens. Since I am travelling home tomorrow/latter today I wont know until the 19th :(. If time travel comes online I want minute by minute updates :)
you can stop being excited now, no blueprints... >< i guess this was just the 3d secure and a fix on limited items displaying "not anymore" when they shouldnt... grrr..... no NI update it seems :(
X-es have not been fixed (ice clubs, some refined crystals, boar hooves, heads, tails) bugged amount of refined crystals not fixed either... this vu didn't carry any loot
Thanks for the info Jellyfish, really sad to hear this news though, actually more than sad, angry that an upgrade for the deposit system is more important than an existing new planet and it's owners and inhabitants Any chance the promised turrets at revives/tps showed up? Or the noob spawn point corrected to the Crystal Resort area? Can't go in til later today to see what's up if anything.
hmm I guess vu's are for systems and they have a deferent name for content updates now? Thats how they changed them on calypso anyhow I was all hyped up to craft and hunt hardcore! :-/
Well I just came to NI last night before the patch, ready and waiting for the bug fixes and new content. Guess I'll be heading back to Caly since they can't get the NI updates out like they said. MA is fucking it up for this planet it seems. Really disappointed how this it going. GL to the NI crew ..... maybe MA will push the VU but until then I won't be on the island. -Bemo-
how is this lack of content and bug fixes MA's fault? they provided a platform adjustment, that's all. NDS and FPC are responsible for delivering their own content updates. it may be that whatever else is in this platform change is necessary for NDS and FPC to deliver their content. in which case, I'd suggest waiting a few days and seeing what happens. if nothing happens, then the planet partners aren't ready with their updates.
NI has been ready but MA is the ones to push the updates. So yes .... it IS MA's fault for not releasing the update to the client. Not the planet partners. -Bemo-
so.. where can i find the page where it says what the VU brought? (the official release info page) I have always hated how you have to search to get information in EU, information they should have put in the client loader... Sometimes they added "noticed anything different? click here to see what the heck the VU did", but most of the time if you want to know, you have to do some searching/researching.. it's idiotic maybe the NI crew will do better on this part than planet calypso always have when they have their VUs ready. i sure hope so.

The developer of NI has said that they have certain things ready to go but they simply don't know certain things from the platform provider, no matter what they have ready and waiting, like when a VU will come, what will make into it, when test servers will synch with live servers etc. That developer is also a PP and has said clearly that RT had been waiting and asking for many months for the systems available to Calypso to be made available to RT, for bps and planet specific items etc. That developer has also talked about the fact that NI was to have gone live as much as two years ago and the platform delays caused the whole operation serious difficulties. I think NDS has done all it can do within reason to make it clear who is mainly holding back the two new planets, and any PP would be in between a rock and a hard place to get the priority needed and keep biting thier tongues the whole time as well because they still want and need and believe it can work, and probably have some clause in the contract forbidding bad mouthing 'the company who can not be named' the same way we players have in our EULA (and we know that clause does have bite to it when they want). I don't really care anymore, NDS has not been around the whole of the five years I've played Entropia, MA has, and I see nothing at this point that says a perfect dev studio or a new PP (as some believe) would make any difference at all in what we see happening here. Time only will tell if I'm wrong on that. Mods delete the above if it's inflammatory, I'm just really angry and shouldn't be posting probably.
This does not seem like a mutually beneficial business relationship. Surely there is some misinformation being spread or assumptions being made. Otherwise MA is begging to be sued by any number of planet partners for reasons involving conflicts of interest.
If this is the case, PP are going to be weary of joining if they have to wait on MA it get its head out of its ass! And if that is you angry, you hate to see my temper. LOL! As for deleting, I don't think that should happen, we should be able to express how we are feeling without someone else determining if its appropriate or not. (But there are those rare occasions)
