3D-print service for EntropiaPlanets members

The 10x monopoly houses would be fine with the 3D-printer if you have special forms and changing requirements (else you may consider to use LEGO ;-) ) As far as I see the last picture shows papercraft models? At this point low budget 3D-printing could be a really good alternative. You may place two or more of this small models together and handle them as one print job, start it when you pack up work and get the models next morning. You can use several colors of printing material - one for each print. Such house models would be easy to print without support material (the base area is usually the biggest extension). If you want the latice box at top of the last picture you can either print it as one peace in one color at one print or as two pieces in two colors in two prints. Keep in mind that such prints are not suitable for presentations. But good for playing sandbox games.

Just send me some examples of what you want to print as data and I can make a test and tell you more.

Well, printer is broken. Fortunataly it's still under warranty. But I have to send it back to PEARL (3rd time!) and wait for repair.

McCormick asked me to print a model of a Drone in 1:1 ... ROFL! he sent me a model. I could import it without problems to Rhino3D:

Good to see how rough such models would be. Each of the triangles is flat. And the printer would print it flat. I made a test with my printer software and it worked:

In the middle of the printing process the damned printer "MADE IN CHINA!!!!!" gave up. The feeding unit didn't work correct anymore. So it became completely fray out and I cancelled the job.

What a pitty!

 

That doesn't mean I'll stop this service. We'll just have a bit delay. So feel free to send me your models or ask for help with them.

Simple "more triangles" won't change the appereance. One flat triangle would be splitted into six other flat triangles that forms the former one flat triangle.
The last release of 3D Studio Max I used was 5.0. There was a cool function called "smoothing" or so. It deformed the former geometry by making it really smoother. But it didn't work good with models consisting of several parts. You must attach all single parts together first, than weld vertices who are close together, than "smooth" the whole model. It's a lot of work and stress. And the results are pretty randomly

Theoretical yes. Practical you would need special renderers. In generally Rhino3D has serious problems to read 3DS-files. And at least it doesn't matter for a one-color 3D-print :-)

 

First of all I got serious problems to send the broken printer back to PEARL. Will retry again tomorrow. Second: Don't worry, Mc. We will bring your Drone to RL.
I asked in other forums for help with DAZ or Poser because I don't want to learn all that. Low response so far ... Standing at the balcony (cold: 3° Celsius), smoking, a crazy idea came to my mind: What about a statue of of my Ulla Braun in Skyrim ... 600 mm high? OMG! IT IS POSSIBLE. I just need a DAZ- or Poser- or whatever artist to make it for me!

Service will linger on for a while. But my main project is the low-budget print of course. Btw. I'm looking for someone who would lend a Predator Armour (F) to me - just for some screenshots.
