well since that update I cannot seem to login at all... the clientloader part runs ok but when I get to pe.exe I get a tab for it in the bar at the bottom of my screen but then the program freezes before even showing the beginnings of opening a window, and i have to kill the process because the ctl-alt-del window says the program is not responding *hopes this is only a temporary problem :/
Support There are several options here Raven. File a support case and see what they say. You might have to re download the program. Sometimes with as many updates as this VU has had it is possible that you have a corrupted file. Sorry that it is not working and hope to see you back in game soon..... Hope this makes it feel better
Thanks Bunny, But after testing some things I don't think the problem is in the update at all... I think it's on the comp here. I've been trying different things and some other games are acting up as well... I'm updating my directx to the newest available to see if that helps, and if not I will try some other things. Maybe I did something wrong when I reinstalled things the other day.
Darn That is very possible Raven. Might want to check graphics drivers also. Keep us posted on how it is going. Show that computer who is boss LOL :-D
well so far i've reinstalled service pack 2, defragged the hd, updated directx, updated the drivers, run a spyware scanner, run a virus scanner, and none of that has worked lol now i've uninstalled pe and am working on a fresh install of it... if it fails after that i guess its time to pack it in and try sending a support case. another odd thing that's happening that appears to have happened at about the same time is that some web pages wont work in my browser... some pop up just fine and some seem to only open a blank page (not a could not be found error... just a completely white page)
Bummer Bummer. Hey all you computer people out there, can we help the lady??? Beginning to sound like a firewall issue. Blocking things you don't want blocked. Keep at it. Don't give up maybe someone here will jump in and add something.
Yes I was also thinking it sounds like firewall perhaps. XP has an inbuilt firewall which by default is probably switched on. If you have a third party firewall installed along with the virus scanner, then maybe turn off the XP firewall. Otherwise if you only have the XP firewall, I think it has options for exceptions, where you can select and add programs to allow internet access. Maybe PE is being blocked there. I've barely been home the past few days. Am home on Sunday so can try and help then with more suggestions. Good luck :-)
Hmm, how that you mention it, I think that could have had something to do with it, it seems it was locking up right about the time that it tried to login to the server. Another possibility I have in mind is that my friend said he had shut down some services that run in the background through services.msc (whatever that means  ) to free up some memory a bit before that started, is it possible he could have shut down something that PE needed?
OK First make sure all services is running Second make sure your Firewall is disabld Third delete your *.cfg file (found inside the same folder as PE.exe - yourloginname.cfg) If this dosnt solve it then i reinstal PE from scratch Good luck
