We got this pm from a user the other day, and I decided to make a blog post about it. I won't mention any names or details, because it's not important. But basically this person believes that we work for MindArk and / or cooperate with them tightly ... I wish to get this straight, because I hate when stupid rumors flows around in the air for everyone else to grab; that this forum is founded and own by me and my husband Peter. We planned to make a community forum for quite some years now, and we even started one years back, but didn't have the needed time or energy in our week day to pull it of with the enthusiasm such a community platform requires. Fact is, if you're not in it 100% you cannot manage in a proper way! You need a great lot of passion, not only as an Entropian, but also passion for the community! A year ago, a couple of years after buying the domain name, we figured it was now or never, and we start building up the forum. With a lot of help from friends and members of the community we succeeded to built up something from scratch, and it was and still is hard work, which takes all our free time at the moment. We do not get paid from "some other company" and we do not earn anything by having this forum Actually it's the reverse; we spent and we're still spending a lot of money on having it, developing, buying awesome tools etc. - but we do it because we want to and we do not expect anything in return, other than seeing people enjoying to use what we offer! People, who are working in our staff group - and we're reaching 11 members in the group as we speak - are all dedicated players, who wish to make a difference for the community. They do not get paid in any ways either - other than from our total humbleness that they chose to work and spend their very treasured free time on EP. I know that for some people there will always be speculations - and to others a feather easily becomes 5 chickens, but our main goal for this forum is to gather all information we can get from everywhere ALSO from MindArk, FPC, all planetpartners or upcoming planetpartners - but ALSO to share information, stories, articles about and from the community - and preferably TOGETHER with and with involvement of the community! In the end it's not the rumors or the negativity or the complaints or the bashing-other-people-whenever-there's-a-reason which keep us together. It's the bond of being able to share and created, and do so in a proper, mature and humorous way. There's plenty of places were you can harass other people if that's your way - but that's not gonna be on EP. We do, on the other hand, encourage people to talk freely about other games - because in the end, we're all gamers, otherwise we would not be here. And that too makes our forum special and unique. Another thing which makes it special is, that it sure lives up to our motto; For Entropians, by Entropians - and this is main. Peter and I spend all our free time working on this, our 'baby'. At the moment we actually have 2 full times jobs - our Real Life jobs and the work on EP. We have max 2-3 evenings a month where we might be able to do other things, like going out, seeing family, friends - and that is it. It is hard work, not only to us and our family life (which we try and fit into this as well, but we work on the forum before heading to work and again after, when we're home again), but also all the staff members involved - and they deserve all possible respect for what they are offering and doing for the community! They are the true E-Team here! You will see a lot of new things in future from us, which we hope you will love! We're a group of passionated people, and if we had the possibility we would do this for a life time if we had the chance! We will keep inventing, creating and work for you all. Peter and I truly believe in transparent business methods - which shines through all the way to the staff room. Nothing is secret - so if you have any questions, ask us directly instead of speculating, and we will do our very best to answer you and clear things up if they get too muddy.
Thanks for sharing Lykke, I can certainly appreciate your sentiments regarding all of this, because I have been behind the scenes now for a while, and I have witnessed just how hard you guys work, as well as the E-Team members, and yes, we do it all for free. Some members of our community care enough and are passionate enough about our universe to be inspired to take their experiences to the next level and share that passion in any number of creative ways. We see it every day from many community members, and we are better for it. It's part of what moves us forward, and keeps us connected in unique and entertaining ways. My journey with our universe has been very public on the forums and in-game for over 5 years now, which in and of itself is evidence as to how much I love our universe and our community. In the beginning, I was a hunter, then a miner, then a crafter, but then I made the decision years ago that approaching this universe from a media perspective was where my true passion was, as well as sharing information, fun, and entertainment with the community. However, it wasn't until I joined up with Lykke and Peter that I realized just how important that decision was to me. They invited me to manage a Media Center here at EP, and have given me freedom to run with it, which is something I hadn't been offered before, so I accepted the position. It gives me the means to be able to build an awesome and talented Media Team so that we can work toward keeping our content informative, fun, and entertaining for the community while also keeping it fresh and revolving. Over the years through my media efforts, I have been able to create a communication relationship with certain staff at MindArk, FPC, and now Planet Partners, for which I am incredibly grateful, because it gives me an opportunity to share special things with the community, BUT ... It doesn't mean that I work for any of them (which I have been accused of at times), nor that I get paid for any writing I do as a result, or that any special treatment is taking place on either side. It's strictly business, and an effort to be able to bring more information to the community through my writing. My writing also gives the community's voice an opportunity to be heard, and you will see what I mean regarding this very soon. Bottomline ... Lykke and Peter in their own right have also developed their network of notables over the years, and are very proactive about making connections that matter to the community. It's a shame that some just can't accept it for what it is but instead, would rather create rumors and speculation in an attempt to throw fire on it. We have an incredible E-Team staff here at EP who are very hard working and give up a great deal of their free time (as a choice) to help support the efforts toward providing a unique environment for our fellow community members. We have constant brainstorming sessions going on behind the scenes, as well as stretching the limits to reach people who have the potential of providing information the community wants. We use every resource available to us that we have been fortunate enough to acquire over the years, and are incredibly grateful for their support in allowing us to bring the bonus stuff when we can. We are on the verge of sharing something quite special with the community, and I'm not talking weeks or months from now, but a time you can almost reach out and touch, as well as future projects (with substance) in the pipeline to keep it coming. All we ask is for your support, as well as understanding that what we do here is absolutely for the community, and will continue to be so. As we move along our path toward achieving our goals, we will be adding new staff to contribute in these efforts ... it could very well be you. As a closing note ... my message to the community would be ... stay tuned to EntropiaPlanets, because we're just getting started. .
I got a similar series of messages, probably from the same person, but they were personally tailored for me to some regard. They basically accused another person of being a super hacker, putting viruses on their computer and creating avatars to stalk this individual who creepily bore an uncanny resemblance to this persons real life image. Im normally one to enjoy a little bit of insanity. And I would not be lying if I said that on some level I enjoyed this post too. But to be honest I found it more disturbing than not disturbing. Imagine how many other people this person contacts with all sorts of freaky stories? What if hes told someone that I am some kind of super hacker too, and that Im going to go around busting virtual kneecaps over some trivial online dispute re: snablesnots. Lots of folks believe whatever they hear without thinking about it. A person like this could do some damage if they were so inclined.
There will always be those Magyar, who feel the need to cause unnecessary and unprovoked issues for others. The internet is full of people like this, but we just have to deal with it the best we can, which isn't always easy as some of us know full well.
Yeah. Myself I decided I was not going to give this guy much, if any attention at all because IMHO he may just trying to bait the community here. I think what Lykke did was probably the best approach --- it named no names and gave very general information only. This particular user got no glory here, but we all got confirmation he was around and got to refine our individual approaches to his type for the future.
In all fairness, as a follow up on this, Peter recieved a very very nice reply back from the person this morning, telling us that he realised he was wrong about his accusations (that we're MA-people)! He appologized and told us that we and people on EP is doing a great job etc. and that he is supporting us all the way. It is very nice to see, that people have the balls also to return when they find out the world is different than they might have thought! Some might just have schrugged saying 'whatever' - but this person actually returned to us in a very positive way. Tip hat for that - and thank you:) (you know who you are). Looking forward to provide this person and the rest of the community with all the "gold" we're preparing for them
