A suggestion for space travellers:

Why not create a line with schedules between planets? At least once a week a spaceship travels through all planets and asteroids (or at least some of those) charging a certain fee (hopefully less than 10ped)?

This would at least ease this period of transition back into space travel, as there are those who might have gotten stranded somewhere on the process.

What do you people think? Because one thing is certain, if I manage to get one of those space thrusters, this is what Ill do.

  2. Running on schedule would be a bad idea, then the pirates know when to look for you. Other then that it's not a bad idea.

  3. A scheduled flight could be a high ticket transit though, one where fighters could be hired by the craft to defend it along its route against attackers.

part of the problem, right now, is that any ship - excluding motherships - only carries one passenger who doubles as a gunner. so, an escort isn't really feasible unless it is like a convoy.

motherships will just carry their fighter craft until needed.

a scheduled convoy is pretty much advertizing to be raided. even if it can easily fight off the raiders, it's still annoying and increases the transport cost.

as far as I know, most motherships are not operational. I know skippie's is. overall, I have little idea as to how any of the mothership owners are going to do anything. there are other classes of ships which can carry multiple passengers scheduled. the one's I've know are privateer, destroyer, and cruiser. I've seen a privateer.

perhaps, it might be best to work something out with a ship owner. having schedules or the previous "line" system might just be too dangerous.

Well as someone who already has been shot down while carrying a passenger I shoud know that. :)

Thing is if the condition for going on the time scheduled space ship is that no lootables be with (and this could be checked on any small pvp box before leaving) then I dont think space poirates would be interested.

The only thing that saddens me is that space pirate attack decayed -2 points of the Sleipnir structural after repaired.

On this I would like to thank all those who were skilling on vehicles for the new structural damage whenever vehicles are repaired today because this will be really sad on space as it will get more and more crowded up there and thus more and more people will be shot down.

The only one who looses abit will be the owner of the vehicle and this only because of those who skilled on vehicles until MA updated in order to try to stop the skilling abuse as far as I know of.

This being stated I would like to do the first scheduled service to see how it goes, on a couple of days.

What can they do if the passengers are not carrying any lootables?

The way it will probably work for some time is...you walk into a cantina (having been scouted out earlier by a trusted friend who looks like a walking ape/rug, who has looked for possible pilots and ships). You walk in, sit down with an alleged pilot and discuss the deal, being discreet. He later asks, "You've never heard of the Millennium Falcon?…It's the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs."

oh, they'll just shoot up you ship anyways, just for the fun of it. it's hard to get your head around the fevered and crosswired mind of the typical EU pk'er. they don't care what it costs them, just that you die. doesn't even matter if you kill them ten times before hand - they'll gloat over what they can.

funny, this is exactly how I see it working.

Great one, yes this is how it will end up. :)

one thing that always bothered me about that cantina conversation was:

a parsec is a measurement of distance - not time.

To right you are, red. Han's statement literally means, "I discovered a short-cut, making the distance shorter and thus taking less time." So in our Entropia space, it would be good for people to find pilots who are a bit innovative in their piloting skills to avoid any unsavory, would-be plunderers.

Sorry if I began taking this thread off topic. I do however feel that gradually space travel will require some very innovative and unpredictable/unorthodox methods for success. Schedules and predictability will play right into the hands of the pirates and would be thieves.

This new chapter in the Entropia Universe begs for me to dust off my sci-fi collection (Farescape, Firefly, Wing Commander, and of course Star Wars movies) and prepare for some very swashbuckling times
