To the great surprise of the Calypso community I bid on and won the Unique Green Atrox Egg that Neverdie placed on auction recently, paying 696969 PED for it. I have watched with interest the comments surrounding the auction, the speculation afterwards, and the press releases from Neverdie and First Planet Company (FPC). Whilst disbelief that I would buy a seemingly useless egg for such a large amount of PED is understandable, the transaction is legitimate – I won the auction, I now own the egg and Neverdie now has a large pile of PED. Claims that the transaction was just a publicity stunt, that I received part of the purchase price back, or that the transaction included some share of Neverdie’s companies, are all false. I also do not know what will hatch out of it, and neither does Neverdie. I do, however, believe that whatever hatches will be unique and interesting, and unique is a valuable label to have in a virtual world whose lifespan will be measured in decades :) I also believe that FPC has had an “egg plan” for quite some time now and that the effort required to produce VU10 delayed its implementation. With VU10 done I believe that they may now have time to complete their plan, and I purchased the egg hoping that whatever happens to it will happen this year or early next year. It was nice to learn what Neverdie will be using the money for – for him the egg has hatched into a tidy profit with which he will fund his next big hit on the dance music scene, “One More Crazy Summer” by Cheri Moon. I wish Neverdie and Cheri all the best with their endeavours, they sound like a lot of fun :) For us on Calypso the egg remains shrouded in mystery, waiting silently for whatever trigger will hatch it. See you around Calypso! - Deathifier
Deathfier, it's great to see you bought the egg! I feel something will finaly happen with it now - and I hope for you it will be more than you dreamt of! You know, three things ... A surprice, something to play with ... and maybe CHOCOLATE :D NOM NOM NOM Gratz :)
Hehehe I love that graphic Hey Deathifier maybe you should ask ND for a copy of that book I told you about for a freebie XD HEHEHEHEHEHEHEH heck I think I will scan this thing look for that post soon XD --------------------------------------------------------------- ok adding that cover scan this is that one he mailed me as a prize for a screen shot compo when he bought CND
Ahh yes :) have that book ... bought it years back when CND came up. Anyway I truhly believe in Omens!
Deathifyer. Have you just bet £50000 on an item, an item that you have no idea what it is? You have always seemed a clever cookie. Your actions so far and your words on this item defy this. Put simply, no-one would spend that much money on some pixels that they "hope" will repay them. You must have further information. Or are out of touch with the real world and what £50000 can do for the good of many.
I may not know what it is, however various MA and FPC personel have posted comments on EF and in chat transcripts (which are also on EF) in the various egg posts and Q&A sessions over the years. I interpret those with my own unique perspective and factoring in that it is a unique item - one of 4 in-world which are player owned. The main risk is if it doesn't actually turn into anything, and even if it doesn't there are still long-term plans that make use of its eggy existance :) That's one way of looking at it, the same as you could say I gambled 1M+ PED on DNA last year - I could only guess at what the creatures would turn out like. The results of that were 1 good creature, 1 poor one, and 1 that sits somewhere in the middle. Then the Proteron came along and made things more difficult, something I didn't expect. Some things turn out nicely, some don't, some spend years annoying people, like the Globster :D How will this one turn out? We'll just have to wait and see :) - Deathifier
Net weight 20g's ? No no no 69g's Grats Deathifier and I do hope it was worth the price paid. It is such a breath of fresh air to see an owner reference themselves to the "the EGG" properly :) I am sure it has now found its right owner for something special to happen.
at least you knew their would be creatures at the end of it, and could expect some return based on novelty alone. a calculated risk, im sure you saw it that way too. the egg? i reckon you must obviously have a better knowledge of the potentials that you can apply to calculating that risk. (and which is the good, the bad and the inbetween?)
Good: Frescoquda Inbetween: Furor Poor: Letomie I actually expected the Frescoquda and Letomie to be the other way around, and valued them accordingly. For the egg there are a few outcomes I consider likely, and some I consider unlikely, and I've had plenty of speculation on the forums over the years to draw ideas from :) A lot of time was spent examining these potential outcomes with valuations done and plans drawn up to deal with them. Even in the event that nothing happens the egg can still be used as a novelty to generate a little indirect income and there is a plan for that too ;) I also knew that if something unexpected happens I'd have to rapidly adapt, and I ensured that I have the resources available (mainly time and PED) to do so. You do have to remember that I have been watching this for years, I didn't just wake up on the weekend and decide to bid on it :) Bye, Deathifier
What gets me is what had MA put aside as a prize for the looter. And what will the prize be now. I do hope that they have not changed their mind in the intervening years based on the value 2 people have put on this now. Did they really have no prize planed when the dropped it in the event? And expected the looter to wait years and years for the fruition of their event winning loot ?
Did MA say there was a prize set aside for the looter? After all this time things get blurry, but I don't remember if the hatching of the egg is just player speculation or if MA actually said it would hack. The plan might have just been for a unique item like the ring - nothing ever planned to come of it other than a player would have something unique and the players gave it this legend.
THIS beats me too and I find it so shitty that nothing happened for so long! That is just not 'normal'! I believe MA never expected the egg to be sold for that much and even to NEVERDIE - and get the publicity it did. It put a preassure on them to say it was awesome, without knowing what it would be! Seeing peoples speculations, the competitions based on the content of the egg etc. have given MA some time to develope something. And now it's sold for the second time to Deathifier - another high profile in EU - and the egg will just not go away! They are FORCED to do something and match their "it will take your breath away" statement back in time. Personally I don't care much - but I believe it's a shitty behavior towards people in game (the people having the egg) to let them wait! It's just like the behavior towards everybody else having a property. Anyway, I hope and believe for Deathifiers sake that they got something up their sleeves now and that he will get the final reward. But we should not forget, that in the beginning no one knew wether the egg was only a trophy or if it really would contain something. MA themselves gave people hope with their statement and this might pay them back now.
Scouted through EF for a moment and this seems to be a copy of the EBN announcement http://www.entropiaforum.com/forums/general-discussion/30755-ebn-news-atrox-egg-out-there.html Unfortunately the MA links no longer work. But if this is the announcement of the event then nothing was promised by MA at the start of the event. So, why should something be promised now? Is it purely because ND bought it for $10k that MA were then forced to think about it and make Marco make comments like "take your breath away" a few years ago? And now they have to think even harder as the anti has been upped?
