For months now we have been living in one big dust pile, after the electricians found that our electricity was illegal. It's been hell, to say it mild - especially because we had a lot of other projects started, when they found out. In February we took down the whole kitchen and hoped we could easily place the new one. But when the electricians, who was suppose to help us with a few electrical installations for the new kitchen told us, that everything was illegal, we had to wait with the kitchen until everything was fixed. Several months after it is still not fixed, in fact the electricians kept finding new illegal installations and ended up tearing down two lofts and made a lot of holes in our walls both downstairs and on the first floor. This is our lovely dining room. As you can see the loft is missing, but yesterday they managed to place some new boards there. We have not been able to eat at our dining table for almost 5 months ... unless you want to eat plastic lol When things are done and over with, everything will be great. We sanded and painted half of the windows inside now - and the new windows really look great. Last week when we went to Holland we also bought white paint for the bathroom - and I can't wait till it's done :) We also bought a bed for Amanda in Ikea in Holland. It's so much cheaper than in Denmark (where everything is overly expensive) - and she wish for a new bed for more than a year. She is in Spain with her dad at this moment and wont get back home until the 15th of July (horrible long time). Then she will have a totally new room as a b-day gift. Peter's parents bought her a desk too - which is in the other side of the room. We painted her window and she is getting a new curtain etc. It is really cute and I know she will be thrilled. The reason for us to go to Holland in the first place, other than visiting Peter's parents, was to pick up a piano, Peter got from his Uncle (RIP). Or actually it was the daughter of his uncle who gave us the piano. I played piano since I was 4 and until I was around 25 - when I was 30 I unfortunately was so stupid to sell the piano. It was my best friend when I was a kid and I spent at least 1-2 hours a day on it. I am excited and thrilled that we now have a piano in the house again and Amanda is looking forward for me to teach her to play on it (I use to teach children when I was 12). The painting above the piano is made by Peter's uncle. Other than this we are generally busy in and outside the house - fixing things. Trying to clean (RAZER, we hope we can clean most of it before you come on a visit ;) ). I am also very busy on www.thatgameforum.com and am trying to make small games in my spare time - but I have to admit it is going extremely slowly. The art work is the easiest part but when I have to connect it to the codes it goes wrong haha. I also started a blog on www.thatgamelog.com with game reviews. Also that takes time and I am afraid I will have to cut down some of my projects. Even I have some limitations lol - and I am getting stressed by it - though I don't know what to cut down on to be honest. We are also preparing the next magazine - which will be an awesome piece of work. The September 2011 issue is our anniversary issue - and it is then one year ago I got the idea of making a magazine. With the awesome help from members of the community we succeeded - and have been publishing 4 issues (every 3 months) as planned. Oh well, talking about projects. I decided to write a children book - and in whatever time is left I am doing a lot of research on-line. I am not going to reveal it yet because as with a lot of other projects, who knows if I have time to finish it up BUT no doubt, if I do it will be awesome! Have fun :)
Hey Lykke, sorry to hear about the electricity problem. It is a pain we had something similar with the extension we built on the back (Still illegal wiring atm). I am not prepared to pay the 3k bucks involved in fixing it just yet but have promised the contractor he will get the job in 2012 when I have finished some other projects.
Whee another comment - I love what you did with mandy's room, I hope she is thrilled when she returns amongst the plastic and dust downstairs hehe ;) And you my dear, don't go taking on too many projects as it will make your head spin. I am glad you are writing a book though, this is healthy for the soul and something I wish to do too (Probably about Entropia and RCE experiences since I have little else to write about just now)
Oh btw, can you teach me the piano please. I played a little when I was young, like the entertainer and heart and soul, but that is about the limit of my playing ability lol. Please GIEV lessons :D
How is peter these days?, I haven't heard much from him, hope he is healthy and living in good spirits !
Its good to see life is the same for alott of us. I do have a solution for you. I can have the workers bring it over any time. Youll love the plastic. (url)http://www.m4040.com/Survival/Skills/Shelter/TarpShelter.htm(/url)
Childrens books. Great idea. Fits you. If somehow you could get a cereal company to give them with a box as a promotion it would be huge. You would have insight into this world of children and what triggers them to dream. Sounds like this would be what to spend time on. With your history in print you should at least be able to get the ear of people who can market them. Get some to fit the ipad and like devices with pictures. Can you let us know when one is finished. Maybe I can come up with a plot for one of your storys. That would be an honor if it was accepted. I dont even know if I can see through a childs eye or mind. You have children so this should be more easy for you. Cookies and dolls? lol anyhow. Time is what you are spending. So Ill try and not hog my share. Keep posting. I want to market a book you come up with.
Hehe thanks viper and Lerp :) I have spent time looking into a lot of back history of the book I will be writing. It will actually be a serie of books - but I didn't actually start writing yet. First I need to do a lot of research because even if it's fantasy, it is connected to old Nordic mythology. And everything - even the names of the characters - needs to fit into the plot and story :) First the book will be in Danish though - that is afterall my native language. But IF I succeed, I will get it translated very quickly into English... - especially because the story it self takes place in England. Ooo I already said too much :P Only thing I need now is time time and more time. About the house - it will be great when it's done. At least then we know everything is 100% legal :) Viper, it might be a lot of money (I Know it is) but if something is illegal it might also be dangerous. Like in our case, the open wires (only connected with a metal clam) was put directly up under the roof and isolation wool and if anything happened, it would in worse case scenario have resulted in a fire. My daughter's room is right above it. Makes you think what's worth most ...
Looks amazing!! Can't wait to see the finished pics!! ;) Gl with the Game Log!! :) And wow you are busy!! :D lol
Hi Lykke, yes books do take a lot of time & more time lol, your going to be a busy little lady. Zoom I wonder where you get all the energy ... can I have some please hehe. About the wiring, our situation is a load situation where we have too many outlets on the one line. I looked at the quotation, it seems country energy did one part for us 6 months ago which is the lead in capacity to the house has been upgraded from 50 Amps to 100 Amps, so that knocks ~ 1200 off the bill of things needing doing. I intend to get it done mid next year once I have finished upgrading computers before I go to add an additional air con to the house. It is definitely on the list of things to do.
I want the photo. Above the piano. I know trees and these two are as real as you get. Ask him how much for me. Or at least a copy. I have trades or can have my girlfriend clean your house. She does not talk back as much any more. If you have trouble with her Ill send a switch(thin branch) for you to use.
Not sure what illegal wiring means over there, but electricity is nothing to fool around with and it is better to be safe then sorry (burned down house). Don't worry to much about the mess, you should see my place :). Maybe I can give you an hand with stuff in return for the great things you are doing for me. mmm, children's book, I hear some other children's book they just finished the last film and kids all over the world are looking for a replacement.
Lerp, trees was Peter's uncles speciality. Unfortunately dead uncle (may he rest in peace). Peter got that painting and another tree painting as a memory last time we where in Holland. His paintings are wonderful though and his old house was filled with them. Razer ... don't promise too much - we still have a whole kitchen, which needs to be done :P Besides, it should be fun having you on a visit - not a slave job ;)
Wow :O I'm quite impressed by your ability to keep up with all the projects.. By the way; you said something about Nordic mythology. Nordic = Edda, right? :)
haha Khaos - yes, and I am actually going to use some lines from the old Edda ;) But if I told you which ones, I would have to kill you :P I reached page 19 today. And I managed to write the huge part of the family tree + a list of chapters with key words. I'm very excited about it and wish I had time to do nothing else :) When I release the website and FB page, I hope some of you will like it ^^
This all sounds awfully familiar... We haven't had a shower in some months, imagine that! We have to walk 10 mins to Freja's parents' place to even shower. Now we found out that the entire wall my dad tiled in the bathroom has gone wrong; the glue didn't stick to the tiles, only the wall, so that the tiles were easily removed with a single screwdriver. Nightmare! Delays delays delays... As if it wasn't going slow enough already. All this with 2 kids and a baby around = fun? Shopping abroad sounds terribly familiar too :D We came back from England with absolutely maxed out weight limits. Fun to see that you guys are doing the same in Holland. Hope it goes more smoothly for you guys from now :)
