Here's a grand little thing you can get involved in. Play a game, and help raise awareness of and support aginst dowries in South Asian countries. Few might know, but India banned the practise of dowries (essentially a gift from the family of a bride to the groom and/or the groom's parents to ensure the bride could be provided for in her new home) 50 years ago, but the practise is still widely used. Failure to continue paying for their daughters might end in injury, both emotional or physical, for the bride or her family, and thus essentially, families are being blackmailed. India's dating site Shaadi.com intends to put the issue on the map, and started an awareness program on it's Facebook page, inviting Facebook users to play a game of Angry Brides, where players can pick from an arsenal of weapons to toss at greedy grooms. Every succesful hit reduces the grooms dowry, and in tur is then added to an anti-dowry fund which will be posted to the Facebook user's page. Join over 270.000 users worldwide, and help out the issue on the map. You can play the Angry Brides game on Shaadi's facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/shaadicom Hat tip: The Register.
