Let's hope MA doeasn't abandon EU to make EU2. For me that's shity move from Linden Lab and players will probably punish them for that.
I always found SL a dog performance wise. I'm not a person who normally worries too much about such things but there is "poor performance" and "verging on unplayable". The interface was awful too. Remember Linden are in posession of the numbers. They are probably realising that maybe new players are dropping off... the game is looking old appearance wise and the existing hardcore are maybe clamouring for more refineed ability to make stuff. The danger is that a reset would maybe kill it off all together. They are unlikely to ever get the hype of the years gone by where every news paper wanted to do articles on the new "3d web" it promised. I suspect a new SL would struggle. Problem is they have little choice. Adapt or die is the rule. Options are probably, keep running with SL, wait for it to wither and die while gradually reducing the dev team and cost of running accordingly. Same time, spin off a new company and do something else. Alternatively, kill off SL and tell the world it is being replaced. Chances are new version will tank and company will go out with a bang. Comparatively EU2? Well I think we kinda had that with ce2. It was more or less a remake it seems that is still being "finished". I've always felt that MA's slow ponderous progress and historical lack of marketing is what has saved the game ultimately. There are few MMO's that have lasted as long and many went out like a light during the big MMO craze of the late noughties. It is a good question though... what would EU2 be like if it existed? Might start a thread for that.... Wistrel
Much respect for MA for not making EU2 like Linden are doing SL2. We can expect our avatars to live undefenately. In the case of SL2 who is gona be sure there isn't going to be SL3 after 5 years. Why invest time and money in such MMO/virtual universe.
