    I'm all for it!

I have always dreamed of such a planet. Some kind of virtual representation of Project Venus, maybe?
I have many ideas for progressive politics, refined economics and alternative social structures.
I have been writting and gathering concept art for a comic of mine that would illustrate one such idillic world (Cyber Prep style) with critiques towards contemporary culture à la Technopères.

I am currently studying Animation and Digital Arts in Mexico and I'm aspiring to be a Game Artist so I am SERIOUSLY interested in working on a project such as this, especially if it proposes an alternative gameplay to the classic cyberpunk warfare and the ever so tyring point-n-loot.

Contact me for details and a link towards my webpage.

Well not in the UK, but the idea is nice. But I have one big question.
You say "harmony, no wars , no aliens , no folklore creatures" but if that is so, where will the gameplay element come from? and how will people spend money on your planet. In order to become a planet partner, MA will need to get an estimate on what they will make of your planet and as of now the only way to make money is by decay of items.

I can see mining on your planet, which is pretty eco the way we do it in EU right now (there is no hole in the ground after you extracted your minerals) and taming could work as well and of course crafting (maybe the most important one), but I wonder if a planet will work with just those 3 unless MA implements a lot more stuff, like actually needing the eat and growing your own food and using your animals to produce food and with the stuff they produce make more food by combining 2 items etc. Also more items to craft with ores and enmatters to build windmills and water power plants which then provide electricity people can buy to craft more stuff (so maybe 2 types of crafting machines, one with power and one without).

Anyway there is a lot you can do, but I think the most important one is figure out how to make money on your planet and how to convince MA that your idea works before actually making this happen.

Any name yet to put in the wiki? ;)

As I said I like the idea, but I stick to my final words, make a proper earning model before you do anything else.

Interesting. But I cannot really imagine how something like that would work in EU or could ever be profitable, given MA's conditions for PPs.

Maybe joining forces with PostModerna and making Utopian Future a 'destination' would be option?!?

There's always a way, you just have to be creative. I have already thought of a few ways it can work.

Calypso seems to be cannon for planet businesses but, quite frankly, I've been waiting for someone to go against the current for quite a while.

Not in the UK. But would sure like to help out if possible :)

Maybe an idea for hunting; Make it some sort of past-time or sport, in special arenas. These enemies could be robots (that are recyclable :) ) or maybe from a future building material, that can't break but can fall apart and reassemble (like how the replicators from Stargate are built).

Well... creativity is my business ;)

Can't remember, how much is the upfront payment to MA?

i was involved in an earlier project that dispersed and flirted with another and would be interested in participation in another, especially if it meant leaving my dullarse job.... ::bigsmile: (ten year sys admin)

the lesson learnt from before and i think borne out with what we see in other planets is that you dont have alot or any scope for real change in mechanics, and thats a big limitation and turns people off pretty fast.

on the positive side, this is great if you want to see through a story based world and focus on the RPG/content aspects.

on balance you have to consider if the ideas you have would work with in the rigid frame work that MA provides, or if spending the same money on a independent platform would be a better strategy. i looked into it, imo the costs are about the same either way and while there are disadvantages there are advantages too, for instance being able to implement a different payment/business model.
