I have been having huge problems with game play since the last VU. My ava "rabbit hops" and "rubber bands" constantly. I have a dual core 5G processor, Nvidia GeF 9400 graphics card, with 10 mbs cable internet connect, and I have to keep my settings on medium. Even then, I have a huge lag, especially at CND. The game is basically unplayable for me right now. I have submitted a support case and received the usual "it's your problem, not ours" reply. If anyone has a suggestion to fix this, please let me know. Otherwise, I am pretty much done playing until this is fixed.
Are you running Entropia Tracker? If so, try to delete your chat.txt, some times it helps even though it's greatly improved over the previous versions when the file gets big. And of course all the usual routes, defraging the HD, checking for latest drivers etc.
If that doesn't work then blame Vista :). Might want to upgrade to a new video card, the 9400 is a getting a little old and I'm not sure if it can smoothly run the physics aspects of entropia. Well and that 10mb/s connection is not always going to be 10mb/s. I have the same connection but during high traffic times I average around 4mb/s. During these times I have to down my graphics to medium.
Its not Vista. :-) Im running Vista and the games working fine. The 9400 Card struggles on High Res in EU. My girlfriends computer has that card and she regularly runs on Medium settings, even back on Calypso. Her specs are similar to yours. Yes, she can run on high -- but at a rather steep performance price. The 9400 sadly is not as good as the 8800 series from Nvidia. All that being said, with the low framerates even I receive at CND (12-30 --- usually Im up around 50-80 running very high res) I suspect that perhaps the graphics engine is actually running in debug mode server side. This could be contributing to the problem and we wouldnt even know it. Leaving debug mode on is a common thing to do during a software beta.
Thanks for the suggestions guys :) No, I don't run Entropia Tracker, and yes, I did defrag and made sure I had the latest driver on my card. I have run speed tests on my connection and am averaging around 10.15 mbs. Also, I have a friend in the IT dept of my ISP -- he upgraded my connection to 100 mbs just as a test. Absolutely no difference in performance. I can upgrade my graphics card and go to Win 7, but I hate to sink the money into it if it won't make any difference. From what I'm seeing on PCF, a lot of people are having the same problem running different OS. Oh well, I won't whine anymore. :p But I would appreciation any further suggestions!
Heres a suggestion: Run a chkdsk and watch it as it runs. Your drive may have generated some bad sectors as drives are prone to do from time to time. I had a similar problem about 7 months back and found that my drive had lost about 124 mb of space due to bad sectors. After running chkdsk I ran EU and the system re-patched a couple files that had been impacted by the bad sectors.
Hi i have the same problem right now when I play on a laptop, it worked fine before the last VU. I think it depends on all the birds that flutter around :)
I am running 512 meg slimline card in a vista machine and it runs fine on medium no rubber banding. Really thinking of getting new pc right soon but oh well :-P
I never had any problems with this. Actually, I had it the other way around in fact. Before the update, I rubber banded quite often and had gotten used to it in fact. After the update, I don't do it at all anymore. I do run everything pretty low anyway due to the fact I don't have a great computer, but it has helped my character movement. Anyway, I don't have any suggestions on how to fix this, but I do hope that it gets fixed soon! Good luck!! :)
I also have been having this issue post update. I was on Calypso running the achievments waiting for the NI update to bring joy & happiness and Pa was so lagging it took me 5 minutes just to get out of one building. I tried other areas and it got no better. I exited the mother planet & came home to NI. CND, Crystal Resorts and even out at Biggle Bog I was lagging/rubber banding so badly I just logged out. Checking ping times etc all was/is good but in game another story :( Prior to update all ran well even at high res settings. Now even at medium it still occurs. Has to be something with the update.
