VU 12.5.2 Update Beacon interiors have been enlarged and redesigned to improve playability. Beacon robots have been renamed and rebalanced, they are now slightly tougher but not as many. The number of storage container loot boxes in each Beacon has been increased to 21. Storage container loot boxes are now randomly placed within the Beacon. Real-time team member statistics display- damage, healing, kills, deaths, etc. Timers have been adjusted in balance with the recent level design changes Loot from unopened storage container loot boxes is now added to the storage container boxes in subsequent Beacon missions. Each Beacon level now has its own unique end boss that guards a storage container loot box which holds a large part of the total loot for each Beacon mission. Minimum number of players required to enter Beacon missions has been lowered from 4 to 2. Note that the recommended team size is a minimum of four players to complete Beacon missions effectively. The number of checkpoints have been reduced in all Beacon missions. There's a tool that is capable of collecting and displaying all info much more structured and accessible than a forum thread could do and it's editable by everyone instead of solely the thread starter being able to update the OP. It's called wiki. And it has a page already hungry for text, lists, links, maps, tables, charts, images, galleries, youtube videos, etc and can take almost any kind of format no matter whether it is RSS, .pdf, .png or .svg. There it is: http://www.entropiaplanets.com/wiki/Beacon_Missions It's linked on the wiki mainpage, and in the sidebar under Calypso as well as under Professions/Activities. It's available as a RSS item happily waiting for everyone to take it to his personal website. Any contrubution is welcome, no matter whether it's a 60 pages Beacon_Guide.pdf or a typo fix. If you feel uncomfortable contributing to the wiki directly please just put the info in this thread and be assured someone will add it to the page. Please spread the word! It seems beacons have changed. Before we had 23ped, 25 ped, etc now we have different levels. From the release notes it seems all existing beacons will be converted to level 2 beacons ouch!
Alrighty, all the available info seems to be on right now. Unfortunately not much. However, some loot, some creatures, some general tips, some generic stuff has been added. So far all the boss mobs encountered seemed to be pimped Harbinger clones. On higher lvl beacons there seem to be intermediate boss mobs too. For example the newly introduced Holograhpic Warrior Prototype. The instance layout itself seems to be the same for different lvl of beacons. It's quite straight without any real branches. A nice thing is the little summary/score board after the mission (screenshot on the wiki). Bring more info, screenshots, maps. And/or invite me. ;) EDIT: And what I assumed in the OP is happening... please spread the word that the info is on the wiki...
I imagine beacons is a Calypso thing, but the system beacons use is available to all planet partners so they can make their own mission/instance type of thing.
Since it's going into robot territory to kick some shiny metal ass, it's a safe bet that robot beacons will be a Calypso only thing. I suspect the game engine systems that make them happen will be available to the other planet partners as soon as any major bugs are stamped out and the economic inbalance is corrected.
Yep, Robot Beacon Missions are exclusively Calypso. Right now instanes in general are exclusively Calypso because unfortunately the tools to create them so far have solely been provided by MA to MA but not to planet partners yet.
Hi, Correct. MA has made the tool, has implemented it, has made & released beacon/ instanced missions on his self-owned planet with it, and will now, maybe in near future, start to hand the tool over to it's Planet Partners, so that they can start the work, too. Have a good time!
Ok, I did it. Very rough and very incomplete 23 PED Robot Beacon Mission Level Map, just added to the wiki. Please contribute anything that could improve the map. Attached to this post you can find a zip file containing an ai file for the case you want to edit the map yourself. EDIT: Map now in post #2 and gets updated automatically with the latest version from the wiki.
Good to know in order to avoid overkill. I will add new simplified Creature tables to the beacon missions wiki page.
Alrighty, let's say I've updated the map. Still is lacking major info, for example the position of 3 storage containers. (click for full-size) EDIT: Map now in post #2 and gets updated automatically by the wiki. .
