Not sure why I got the idea of looking for a company register in Sweden, but I'm happy I did. I was almost cheering when I found this. Would really like an official statement from both FPC as SEE and I wonder if they are happy that we found out already.
And another well-known individual in the EU community is also speaking for SEE... SEE: Experience -- Titanic Video Player
One big difference ... ND Studios are no longer associated with SEE ... they went their separate ways. ND Studios for right now (according to ND's interview in the current EntropiaTimes magazine) will be working on ROCKtropia and Next Island only. And now we have a new studio ... SEE Digital Studios ... and Calypso will also come under that umbrella, along with all the other planets that SEE will be putting out there, like Planet Michael, etc.
Good find, Puck. Looks like it was intended for viewing by potential planet partner customers for SEE. It's a pretty good sales pitch IMO. Lots more hand movement in the cinematography than is good for a sales pitch, but the script is good. It's interesting to see ND selling something other than his own trademark. As he did a pretty good job of it in the cited video, IMO, he seems to have missed his calling as a salesman or promoter. As others have stated, SEE and Jacobs are no longer partnering on projects.
Something Tass mentioned behind the scenes, but I wanted it to be in here to. To show how 'fresh' this news is, look at the creation date !!
It occurs to me that given SEE's expertise with Titanic and Trek, there may be some really, truly, bitchin' trade show booths in our future! :)
as long as they bring those booth babes in orange suits again [edit] In case you are wondering, I mean these booth babes.
nor ugly! GO GET! On topic: Even the SEE's billie jean-planet ain't for me, I do believe in funny pressure caused by big deals. Sort of competition without competitors. Good good, go go :)
Eeek...I have to tell you it's pretty creepy seeing ND promoting virtual worlds (notice he never once mentions the name of any planet or universe) on the SEE site. Perhaps this video is one of the parts of the FPC property they now own. God I hope were not going to see a CND on every SEE planet.
My theory here: I think that SEE Virtual Worlds bought FPC. FPC will still be the owner of Calypso. All the people in FPC will go over to SEE Digital Studios and they will develop Calypso for FPC and planet Michael for a company yet to be released and the Universal planet for a company yet to be released. This way the developers have nothing to do (on paper) with the planets other then a business relation, but of course will do all the work. Both planets will then just pay the developers and if the planet goes bankrupt (which I hope it doesn't) the developers will still have a job and continue working on the other planets. So my guess is that for every planet we will see a different company. This is pretty common in all sorts of businesses. It is basically what Neverdie does for Next Island. Not his planet, not his risk, just hired by Next Island to develop the planet and ND can send a bill every month to David Post. As far as we know now the Cyrene has the same structure, Digital Scyers as the developer and Creative Kingdom as the owner of the planet. I think Arkadia is the only one owning and developing their planet, don't know about Beladcom
Don't worry, this video is an old one and NEVERDIE Studios is NOT developing ANY of the SEE planets anymore as mentioned in an interview
eh? currently, Neverdie Studios owns and is developing their own planet, Rocktropia. FPC is owning and developing their own planet, if they are taken over by SEE they are still owning and developing their own. likewise if SEE Digital Studios comes to exist and operate as speculated, they will own and develop Planet Michael (and supposedly Calypso).
Like I said I idea is that they would split up stuff a bit more. So the rights to the planet in one company and the development in the other. And yes NEVERDIE studios and ROCKtropia might be the same company right now, forgot about them. I think it is smart to split stuff up, this will spread the risk around a bit. But it is my theory and we will have to see what happens.
Sorry my dear RAZER ... but I'm not with you on this one. I've been doing some more critical thinking, and since I was told by my source that there would be more controversy, I've been straining the purple matter to figure out what was meant by this, as no specific details were given, so ... this is what I came up with ... I actually envision PCF going through yet more changes, and perhaps that's what was meant when it was said that there will be more controversy, and that it relates to the forum more than anything else since the information I received came right on the heels of the EF database sale to FPC. I can see PCF restructuring to accommodate everything SEE, with Calypso as one of the planets under their umbrella, and perhaps becoming a sub-forum, rather than a whole forum. It just makes sense, because ... regardless of those who don't believe it 100% yet - FPC & SEE joined forces, and ... I can't envision SEE creating a whole new forum for SEE planets when they own the rights to Calypso why pay $6 million USD for the rights just in name and not actively do anything about it PCF has THE largest membership of any forum, and it would be beneficial for SEE to utilize this to their advantage everything in one place with access to the collective community to share development information maybe this was the plan all along when the deal was made to sell the EF database this is speculation, but ... I'm guessing that 711 knew all about it, and this was prep work I love critical thinking, and I know there are those who argue against my musings, but ... I'm going to reserve the right to come back and say ... I told you so. However ... if I'm wrong, then I will be a big girl and say so.
I wasn't going to say this but I guess it has to be said. The controversy part could be the possible conflicts of interest arising from the partnership between SEE and FPC e.g. what if fpc have a "Calypso" station on SEE worlds? i.e. handing out free virtual properties to each other... We really have no idea what the details of the arrangements are between themselves so we can't really know about any controversy. Also perhaps your source may have got it wrong? or was intentional to mislead us? just some possibilities again without knowing any specifics we really can't make any informed judgements...
We'll just have to wait for the press releases, and maybe find out more information, who knows. I'm not sure that what you said about Calypso stations on SEE planets will happen, don't see it myself, but ... I'm sure that more detailed information as to what the full agreement was in all of this will evolve over time, and perhaps not until it becomes a part of our universe. You know they (FPC) aren't good at sharing future or proposed information, but perhaps it will be different with SEE on board ... they're quite good at getting information out there and sharing it. This is why I think that SEE will be more influential in that respect than not, and I am somewhat anticipating that we're going to experience something different ... time will tell.
A very good point. I've been thinking about this issue. FPC are frankly rubbish at sharing information and they do it deliberately imho. Seems to me anyone that comes into contact with FPC or MA are conformed to their way of things. For example take the case of Skam (Hanne) a perfectly decent player very good at communicating and indeed was good in her early days at FPC. However, she somehow got moulded into the FPC way of things and is now frankly rubbish at communicating anything... The same seems to have happened to SEE and Martin Biallas who I thought were very good at communicating and it was very refreshing to see. However now that they are in partnership with FPC they seem to have also been "conformed"... I hope I'm wrong and something of their good communicating skills survive but it doesn't look very rosy. SEE will see Calypso as the experienced team and let them lead which will very likely produce poor communication from the SEE/FPC partnership.
