    BREAKING NEWS::clapping::scare::search:
    Lootius has disappeared from the planet Calypso.

    Reports have been pouring into the EuC newsroom from all over about a startling event taking place on the colony planet, Calypso. It appears, by all indications that one of the most revered, yet, mysterious 'inhabitants' of this lush garden-like planet has gone missing.

    Lootius Maximus, as he is commonly called, has not been seen for several days and some fear for even longer. The reclusive hermit is seldom seen as a matter of course, but his works have remained evident and have been a staple since the discovery of the planet in the early part of the twenty-first century.

    "It's seems he just up and goed. Ain't nuttin' fallin' from no-wheres these days," Sufferin NoBrains Succotash, a longtime Calypsian resident was quoted as saying. "Not that no-one sees 'im any-who, but, well, ya know, when them Esto's cough up a table or a Feffer bleeds a Korss, well, that's him, that's Lootius."

    The authorities are silent on the disappearence. All inquires into the Interplanetary Council have been met with the same response. A recorded message stating simply: "Gold Card Activation is available for free for all colonists who have deposited more than 5000 PED to date." ( PED is the standing currency on the planet Calypso and is linked to the US dollar. )

    A large number of colonists suspect that there is something more diabolical going on and the lines, and subsequent delays at the local auctions houses are increasing as colonist's try desperately to sell off their possessions for a ticket back to Earth.

    Doen FutWit Me, The head of one the largest planetary societies, Freelancer, reported just this afternoon:

    "With Lootius, gone the market prices and the overall cost of living here is skyrocketing. People just can't afford to stay. I've got all of my Armor and plating up for auction right now, but with the demand falling, I'll be lucky to sell it for any kind of profit at all."

    More on this breaking story as events unfold. :coffee:

    THIS JUST IN:
    MindArk Denies the existence of Lootius! :clapping::surprise::clapping:

    Speaking off the record about the disappearence of the fabled Lootius from the planet Calypso, a representative of MindArk, a software development company from the country of Sweden on Earth who was intrumental in the discovery and colonization of the planet Calypso, has stated that the infamous Calypsian inhabitant is a collective figment of imagination.

    "It's an old wives tale. Lootius isn't a real person. Someone gave a name to something that happens. Like, Murphy's Law." ( This is a reference to an obsure law of the universe stating, 'Nothing is as easy as it looks. Everything takes longer than you expect and if anything can go wrong it will, and at the worst possible moment.)

    "When something bad happens people will say, 'Oh, there's Murphy.' It's like that. Someone will shoot a creature, or a MOB, Mobile...its short for mobile, like a mobile target...and a good amount of 'loot', like a prize will show up in the, uh, loot window. Then the player will say...'Thanks Lootius.' It's like Murphy, only a good Murphy," he went on to say. "It's more of a folktale, like a god of loot, a patron Saint, something like that. You know what I mean?"

    When asked to explain the disappearence he stated:

    "Oh, people still believe. We need them to. This whole story is just a lot of hype...instigated by the press. You guys blow everything out of proportion. There has actually been no reduction in the amount of loot being found. Loot has always been low, expect for a few favorite individ-...uh, a select few...No more questions."

  4. I wonder if Lootius has suffered from the principle of mana? Perhaps when the whole of Calypso stopped believing in him, he simply became a ghost-like waif wandering lost amongst the exo's.

    Small Gods clearly describes this phenomenon.
