did a check on a WHOIS website and it looks like the URL to www.planetcalypsoforum.com is still owned by SEE. The name servers are ns2.mindark.com so my guess is those are owned by Mindark. Dont know what the nameservers were before all this.
As we all know, 711 sold the forum to FPC. I am certain that whoever buys calypso, gets the rights to the forum too ... Question is, who will administrate it?
The one I was looking at is the official Swedish one, so my guess is that HAS to update quickly, because it could cause all sorts of trouble if it wasn't. We do still have screenshots of the site from the article where we uncovered that SEE bought FPC, so it has changed for sure, not sure when though.
Ack can't use this thing anymore someone delete that post willy a? Anyhow sounds like the payments thing is the pudding proof, too much correlation on dates. Think lykke is right though the sky may be falling.... Shame.... I thought cLypso did well as a separate entity.... Amalgamation with ma again feels like a step backwards..... Wistrel
Here's SEE's official statement on the matter: “SEE Virtual Worlds has made a strategic business decision in March of 2011 to conclude its partnership with Mindark for all planet partner projects on the Entropia Universe. SEE retains its full ownership of SDS and the Planet Calypso IP. SEE remains committed to delivering innovative and immersive interactive entertainment to our users on various platforms.”
More info will follow. If you have any specific questions, feel free to post them in this thread, and I'll see what answers I can get.
we dont know how the current situation has developed. if MA has effectivly repossessed the planet calypso due to non-payment, that doesn't mean peripheral parts of the SDS business will transfer back - in fact i'd expect SDS to retain them. i know in the UK the equivilent resource relies on a company updating the details and doesn't have to do this immediately. following a corporate action there could be a delay of days or weeks before updates are submitted and viewable. im just saying keep looking for changes in the coming weeks. likewise, companies dont always change their copyright notices immediately. i note the MA site with the news shows 2010 for example.
and whats really interesting about this is the question raised, what did MA sell to SDS? if they think they retain the ownership of the Planet Calypso intelectual property, i can see a nice legal fight ahead. one would have thought thats what MA has retaken control of though, with out the IP you dont own the planet (theres essentially nothing else to own other than a databse of players)
- Will SEE be paying the remaining $5 million to MindArk? if so by when? - Will Planet Calypso be available on a different platform in the future? - Will Planet Michael and Universal Monsters be developed? - Which platform(s) will you be using in future? - What reasons were there for not continuing with the use of the EU platform? Were there technical reasons?or others? please elaborate...
I have started a new thread for the follow-up questions in order to ensure they do not end up hidden in a long thread. Please find the new thread here: http://www.entropiaplanets.com/forums/threads/questions-for-see.5401/
Martin Biallas, CEO from SEE. Upon reading the news yesterday, I shot a message to him straight away. He replied that SEE would release an official statement on the matter. This morning, I got another mail with him with the statement above, marked as their official statement.
wow this is really going to get messy. Maybe MA will wake up and realize that they can't make promised and not keeping them without paying a price.
why is the blame placed at MAs door? as far as we know, SDS/SEE stopped paying, the reasons are speculation at this point.
(Sorry went on quite the rant but i hope ALL read this WE NEED CHANGE) Of course they stoped paying. Just look at how EVERY planet has been missing content upon launch. NO treasure hunting on the Treasure hunting planet. You can kill vampires and werewolves with a baseball bat on Rocktropia. Do i have to mention Time Travel and that Epic Fail? SEE just seen that they are paying a dev team to make a planet that is probably still years away from getting the features they need. Like seriouslly with the systems we have now could you launch a planet Michael? "What do you mean i need to shoot at ppl i thought it was supposed to be a peaceful planet here. oh it will be later when we get some new systems." They got sick of waiting for MA and pulled out and sounds like they have found another platform that sounds very interesting. Really starting to look like what i've been thinking has been going on. I think SEE droped NDS and bought FPC cause they seen Calypso getting all this stuff that they wanted into the game. Missions acheivments. Then they got it and MA took there money and instead of putting it into make the systems that SEE needed they used it to fun space which guess what is MA's brand new area. People screamed when ND sold CND and made HELL on his planet but MA did the same thing with space. Sold Calypso and used that money to make another moneymaker area. and now Calypso has gotten the shaft. I actually am starting to think that MA wants us to all panic and sell off maybe even TT everything and Quit. Maybe Entropia needs that to happen for a rebirth or something. But as what i've said elsewhere the problem is you've got people with money willing to blow 1000's of PED a month GAMBLING in this game. I DONT GAMBLE. this game didn't used to be a slot machine. If you played smart you may still have lost but you didn't loose 50%+ per hunt completly randomly and you could play on 150 PED a month and you thought you spent your money well. Because back then you would have payed more to play other MMO's because of software fees plus you gained skills that were worth money. Now Entropia has turned into nothing but a Casino. MA CAN DO WHATEVER THEY WANT And the reason why MA can do whatever they want is because look around there are not many Sci-fi MMO's out there and it DOES look amazing, and there is really nothing out there like it. For me to quit Entropia it means quitting MMO's completely. Sure there a couple games out there. The new star wars one, that i dont want to pay 15$ a month to play especially when the graphics look like crap compare to Entropia. Firefall thats free to play but no RCE element and the graphics dont look quite as good as Entropia. REVOLUTION To me right now there is only one solution. A Revolution much like whats going on in the middle east. The Players need to get together and force MA to make changes. Not changes that mean that everyone will be getting payed to play. But changes that will encourage more growth in player base to the general public. MA expects Planet Partners to make growth but when the mechanics of the game make it not fun to play the only people that can fix that is MA. The game needs to be open to people of all budgets and encourage investments on many different levels. The secrets and broken promises have got to stop. COMMUNITY IN A BAD POSSITION The problem is nobody has the guts to do it. I wanted to say people are greedy but they are really just concerned about the massive amounts of money they have invested, which i understand. People are scared to cause a problem because we are all invested a crap load of time and money to this thing and for it to complete fail would cost us all. So MA has got us all by the balls. HOPE Maybe I'm wrong maybe the community does have the balls to stop playing and protest. Maybe we can at least stop playing on Calypso as that would affect MA now. I'm not saying you have to switch planets, actually i'd like the people on calypso to stay there and all stand in twin peaks or some other location. Being online costs MA money in servers and bandwidth. Then again even suggesting this is probably going to get me banned.
Dude, you have got to be kidding! SEE are those typical Hollywood shits who 'fake it till they make it' promising they have investors they don't have and spending what money they do have on lavish 1st class airfare and boy toys. No wonder they couldn't raise more money and complete the purchase. How can Martin say they own Calypso when he hasn't paid for the merchandise? I hate these Hollywood craps. Lie, lie, lie without any concern for all the people they're screwing! Of all people RexDameon pussing out like this, too. You are more respected than this does justice to. Jeez, dude, MA is definitely not the enemy here, do you know anything about Martin and the spoiled brats at SEE? They recognized a good thing when they saw it but couldn't manage to put in a full days work or find the equivalent of a gram of talent between them and anyone who pays attention wouldn't give them more money to spend on their wild vacations and pampered bullshit. They let their alligator mouths overload they're humming bird asses and now they're dying of their own bullshit. They couldn't live up to their end of the bargain. They didn't pay so they don't own Calypso. Rex, you know in your heart it's true, just check in with the Force and you'll know.
Yeah right Martin. Strategic business decision = we blew what money we had, lied we could get more and finally the naive Swedes smelled the crap once it reached their noses. It's like you went shoplifting and then said, No, I own the ladies underwear I stole cause I made it out of the store with it on AND I've already peed in it. What various platforms are you talking about? Flash? DOS? Steve Madden? Maybe you'll do some virtual Greyhound Bus tours of the Virtual Homes of the stars with all your creative talent? It's no secret you've screwed everyone you come in contact with. Please go back to Hollywood, this is the future and bullshit isn't welcome here.
kind of a backhanded compliment there but i'll take it. I'm not "pussing out" if i was i'd TT everything and cash out. I want to FORCE change and get Entropia to be what it should be the best online mmo game experience out there that EVERYONE will enjoy. Entropia Should have been the next facebook, the next world wide web, the next youtube. But it's not something for everyone and loosing SEE just made it more of a problem. I'm putting my avatar on the line just saying things like this.
wonder if this is the same subject http://www.brandchannel.com/home/post/2011/05/30/Universal-Scarface-Virtual-Goods.aspx
