    bump for locations???

  5. (cough) look at the western continent map in the bestiary section :)

  6. west south west from Bigle bog, maybe 500 meters

  7. These creatures can be found South of Misty Outpost.

I hunt them with Gremlin + 5b plates and get hit with 40 - 60 damage points. Not sure what type of damage they do or what the ideal armor would be. Apis with Beast amp works well for them.

The following materials have been looted from the Chimera:
Chimera animal parts: blood, claw, eye, heart, hide
Crystals: Danburite, Ulexite, Vanadenite, Wulfenite, Youngite, Zincite
Generic animal parts: eye oil, muscle oil, thyroid oil, oil residue, animal hide, soft hide, wool
    Paint cans: purple, umber, yellow
Components: basic scanning sensor, basic target assessment unit, electronic stabilizing, surface toughness, socket II, socket III, tier I, tier II
Extractors: basic cloth, basic stone, inferior cloth

Please feel free to add comments about these creatures and the items they drop.

  8. Only the big ones hit for large damage. But they all come up ??? so its silly to try to guess. Orca + 5B gets the same results as Gremlin. The less mature ones can be hunted without armor and using an opalo. Might take a while to kill them, but even a newbie can keep up with their damage.

  9. go to biggle bog teleporter then go south. easy as pie :)

even pixie helps. pixie + opalo is enough to kill them

  10. As with the portal guardians, the only way you have to determine the maturity is how close to you the red dots appear on radar. If you see something appearing on the edge of it... better stay away or try a different set of armor+plates ;)

  11. I tried the big ones south of Misty Outpost. I use ghost with 5b plates and got creamed! lol I know I took at least one hit at +70 damage that was not a crit. Maybe I'll break out my pixie and try the smaller ones.

  12. i havent really hunted them alot, but still they are the only creatures i've globaled on on next island (twice even)
the smaller ones that is, never bother with the big bad ones.. heck, im not even a complete meal to them, im just a snack, one bite and im gone

  13. I've been hunting Chimera quite a bit in VU 12.4 and updating their Entropedia entry. Based on the their maturities, they are Humanoids (like Argonauts), and range from 250 HP for Scouts (lower than Young and Adults (also like Argonauts) and topping out at 1000 HP for the Leaders. Up to Guardian they are easy, but the big one hit hard.

The seem to live in crescent shaped area flowing clockwise from south of Biggle Bog to a point south of Misty Outpost, with maturities increasing as you move south and west. I indicated this with three spawns on the map, one to reflect the lower maturities, on the middle maturities, and one the high maturities. In game they overlap, creating a nearly continuous spawn with nice density for hunting.

Question - If these turtle-headed alligators are humanoids, how did they get this way?

    Cheers!
    Miles
