quest and missions aren't so important to me. but, it would be nice is the density and re-population rate of some of the herds were reduced considerably. I was out trying to mine in the south west corner of the main island. the herds of various boars go on for kilometers almost forever. it's pretty much impossible to drive through them or scout the edges of the herd as there are no edges. mining is only possible is you clear a path through the herd - often fighting five or six at a time. after a bit, once you've cleared a spot to drop a probe, the area starts repopulating and the overly aggressive boars start attacking again. I can't imagine this being much fun for anyone - particularly someone new. I was happy to get away and find someplace more peaceful - where I could selectively hunt and mine properly.
I've noticed many areas sort of have "their own mob dynamic." More than several times I've been mining, after clearing an area of mobs and they return within minutes. As a work around, for your situation, I've heard of teams (at least of two people) going out to work together. One person will do the mining and one person acts as protector/defender, dealing with any mobs that may come along. Roles can even be switched, where the other person then does some mining as the other protects during extraction time.
yeah. I use to occasionally hire some "guards" to hold the perimeter of where I was working. unfortunately, I'm not exciting enough to keep their attention and they'd often wander off from the program. so, these day, I just do it all myself. since I find the situation in many areas annoying, I can only imagine how others might feel. but, I do agree, a team will help. but, in the boar herds in the south west, you'd need an army.
That does present some interesting ideas for teams. And yes, the south west of just crazy. I'm just starting to skirt the edges in exploring past west of Morion Outpost.
After the June update, there will still be some really dangerous areas on Next Island, but they won't be the social / newbie places like Crystal Resort.
