Here's a little VU preview from Kris =) ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hello Everyone! This went over so well last time I'm going to make it into something that goes out before every Planet Cyrene Version Update. We are still working away, adding new things, refining things to come while working with MindArk to make sure that all the bugs get fixed and we're on track for the big stuff when the time is right. The first thing I'd like to talk about are the two new dynamic changes that have been unlocked: 0x101 Supply Depot and Garvers. The 0x101 Supply Depot The 0x101 Supply Depot has been set up by the Imperium on the island to the north of the City of Janus (formally the Hunting Grounds teleporter area). Some terraforming has been done and a new congregational area has been created. This area will ideally serve as Cyrene's main trading post/gathering area/meeting place. The Trade Terminals Players who arrive from space will come in above 0x101 Supply Depot as well. All the terminal types are here (as well as Cyrenes first Ad Terminals and Ad Screens). The shops have been moved here (from Janus), and their item points have doubled (10 → 20). There are many types of hunting grounds near here such as: Mang Changs, Old Alpha Paneleons, Crystal Pedes and others. In addition, there is a water Arena, Eve's Playground, for players to fight in. Eve's Playground The other area is Garvers, which is located between Base Camp Epsilon Teleporter and Aerial Base Outskirts Teleporter. This is the area with the purple hives and the Empis Wasps. The wasps here have been very busy, and have started setting up new hives on the ground as well. It will up to the players to either ignore the these creatures and see what happens next, or to eradicate them to gain accolades from the humans on Cyrene. Pictures of Garvers area: If the Empis Wasps continue to build, the area could be over run an spill out into other places! However, if they are stopped now, the Ozpyn Corporation may come in to harvest from the wasps nests and create new items, or A.R.C. scientists might have players try to find the source of the Empis Wasp colony. It will be up to the players to decide. We've also added more maturities to some creatures... Mang Chang: Young, Old Living Vortex: Strong, Ravaging Tide Claw: Provider, Guardian, Dominant, Alpha, Prowler Rhino Beetle: Young, Ancient Sky Wraith: Provider, Guardian, Dominant, Ancient Sea Wraith: hunter, Chaser, Majestic, Ancient ...while altering others: Dusters Merfolken Wiles Paneleon To go along with these changes, we've set up more creature areas in an effort to single out specific maturity types. We've also increased many areas that were too sparse from the last VU (Fenris Dock Guardian, Female Imperium, and Merfolken Breeding Grounds to name a few). Blueprints Another thing that Cyrene is lacking is crafting, specifically blueprints being discovered. In this VU we've added a new blueprint book: Turrelion Blueprints. We've also put four new blueprints for that book into the Blueprint terminal: three component blueprints (used in almost all Turrelion blueprints) and one armor plate blueprint. These blueprints do not take a lot materials (the components each take two different (one universe resource and one Cyrene specific resource) items and should be easy to produce many clicks of them. If you count the Turrelion blueprints coming in this VU Cyrene has over 200 unique blueprints. Not directly related to blueprints but the Imperium Token NPCs and Hub Token NPCs have been changed into true Token Vendors, which should allow players the ability to buy more Armor molds at one time if they choose. Texture This VU also introduces the first texture blueprints for Cyrene, featuring many Cyrene creatures: Swamp Lurker, Zeladoth, Sea Wraith, Crystal Pede, Jellyworm, and more! The Hub There are some changes to the Hub as well. Players have had 1 year to check out the Hub, earn tokens, and purchase the unlimited PvP weapons. This coming VU, the unlimited weapons will be going away for a while and be replaced by limited, but similar versions. These new weapons have a more understandable naming convention:each item with correspond to a token color. For example; Reward Token (white) can only be used to purchase items with the naming of Pure White (insert weapon name here). These limited items will also cost less tokens then the unlimited ones did. There are also coming improvements to the Proving Grounds: the tokens that spawn should now be more plentiful, the safe arrival has been removed to prevent exploiting, and players should now be healed to full health upon warping into the Proving Grounds. ... and some more =) There are other changes as well, new items, new refinements, new quests, and they will all be listed in the VU notes. I hope that this makes everyone excited about this coming VU for Planet Cyrene :) The Tanhok Ambassador ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Untilll next time - stay cool!
Guess that answers the question if Cyrene is dead :) Players choice with the wasp thing is pretty cool as well. Quessing you guys keep track on the amount of those being killed and change the development according to that, interesting!
The Cyrene development team has the ability (due to the dynamic nature of the planet) to track what players hunt how many quests have been completed or are in progress, Kris mentioned each unique quest/challenge completed gains Mission points for Planet Cyrene (at this stage they are only for the Cyrene Development Team to track activity and not for the players, this may change later on) this tells the development team where the players activity is on Planet Cyrene and the amount of Mission Points gained in a specific area would unlock either a dynamic upgrade or an extra Rank or even a new challenge to the missions/quests. Again the nature of Cyrene is based on the players activities , either an area evolves (dynamic upgrade or unlocking features) or de evolves if neglected (area becomes wild and run down and possibly overrun by creatures or enemies) Hope that answers your question cheers:) Agis
Thanks for sharing ... looking forward to my trip back to Cyrene too ... I'm especially happy about the Tanhok Ambassador.
I'm starting to understand how this works. They have many things ready, but don't want to release all in one VU and than we wait 2 years for more. This way we can have new things more regurarly. Looks like they were working hard - good job Cyrene team.
Had a look at the HUB yesterday and tried it out a bit, could be fun if many others are there at the same time but when its empty ;-) Will the L weapons also be HUB Inside only? Could you add some clothing that one can wear while inside? I felt a bit uncomfortable running around in undies... Also finally managed to finish the Lord Psychion Mission *hehe* Will be looking at the new stuff tonight hopefully and check out if there are new missions!?
